That hotel was and still is excellent example of modernist architecture, and is under protection as such. Unfortunately, NATO bombing and later typical corrupt privatisation and multiple owners managed to run it down to three star budget hotel from once upon the time the most luxurious hotel in that part of the world! Just check the list of the famous guests in the past, including few American Presidents. I grew up nearby, we used to go every night in the restaurant overlooking mighty river Danube for a few drinks (best ice coffee in the town) before heading to Belgrade night life or “Ibarska magistrala” restaurants. There is no better location for the hotel in Belgrade, the latest owners know that.
Oh god Charlie I see my car there on 00:20, its the white fiat 500. We were doing a virtual tour photography of The Great War Island, I almost met you randomly :D
Hotel Yugoslavia is like a behemoth of the old days... I never liked it, never went inside. Of the oldies, I much prefer hotel Intercontinental (later Continental, now Crowne Plaza) because of its design and general feel. Plus this one has been bombed in 1999, after 30 years of existence. It has a big chandelier that was included in the Guinness Book of Records, as well as many famous guests, such as Queen Elizabeth, Richard Nixon and Neil Armstrong. They probably didn't spend nights in such a room, surely they had some king apartments etc... and hot water as well.
One time i walked all the way from main bus station in Belgrade,to Zemun Polje station a little bit outside of Zemun in the middle of the night, took us 4-5 hours, and 20 something kilometers, but ah good times :D

@@JokerSerbia Нису се договорили око провизије, чекају да се уруши још више па да му падне цена, или га чувају за некога ко је тренутно заузет на неком другом руднику. За сада га продају на парче, јер цело приземље је под закупом "сналажљивих".
The entire hotel complex belongs to “Kempinski hotels”, they are the latest owners, one of the most luxurious hotels chain in world, money isn’t the problem, they already have plans to rebuild the hotel with extra two towers on each side, the corrupt and rotten Serbian system and politicians, including “Beogradjanin” Vesic are the problem.
Charles, I will be in Zagreb from Sunday 21 November to Saturday 27 November. Is it possible to meet there? I sent the itinerary to your e-mail, if you still check it...? I installed a bidet in my home toilet. I have used zero toilet paper at home since.
Cant believe they dont have hot water in the biggest hotel in Serbia hahaha thats ridiculous The moment when you was waiting for the hot water to come on that was funny :"D
They should demolish the hotel and tell Vucic to build a modern one, called "Serbia", or they should turn it into a tourist attraction, museum of Yugoslavia with a ghost-hotel where people can stay for fun. Make it more creepy and push the story of a Tito's ghost that's wandering around during the night. Make the lights go off for a sec a few times during the night, play some creepy music in the hall. This way the cold shower will be of use.
