"They pay 'em 7 dollars an hour to clean up our feces." Trey, I doubt you'll ever read this comment, but THANK YOU for highlighting the injustice dealt to housekeepers/cleaning staff. Millions of underpaid people clean up after all our body fluids in hotels and other public areas, and hardly anyone even thinks to leave them a tip or at least say thank you.
I did a brief stint at a major hotel chain as a housekeeper. Pre covid. They paid 5$ per room. The expectation was that you could do 2 rooms per hour. Only way to succeed at that was to not really clean anything well. It's criminal to be that greedy. So yes tip...but the supervisor will steal the tips by going in first to strip the beds. Sigh
No one cleans up my bodily fluid Ever Anywhere But me As a normal human being, I wipe it up immediately if it’s not in the toilet or a garbage (vomit) I also wipe the sink out after brushing my teeth …ppl waz raised in a barn…
I have an airbnb and always thought the laundry list of check out chores was ridiculous, I had none of these for our guests. The only rule was no smoking or pets. We even had special instructions telling them to not worry about any chores (this is something they're paying us for and who wants to worry about that moments before they have to get on a flight home). Yet, somehow they would still take out the trash and make the bed, which I would need to undo anyways to wash it. My cleaning fee was $25 but it was reasonable compared to our comps.
I always strip our beds down and clean up when we leave air b n b’s and even hotel rooms. I have also never been charged an exorbitant cleaning fee though, either. For me it’s a respect thing, although I don’t expect everyone to do that. I just feel like it’s somebody’s home. And I am a guest in that home. And as far as hotels, I clean up every time because I KNOW they get paid dirt to clean up probably the most disgusting things you could imagine. Also- leave a tip in your room for your housekeeper.
@@Bubbles-qh7ez I clean it myself, it's a one bedroom apartment attached to my home and doesn't take longer than an hour. I also work from home which helps
I’ve used Airbnb several times and never had a list of checkout chores. Of course I always try to tidy anywhere I’ve stayed before I go, but these cleaning requirements are news to me.
After a bad air bnb I don’t think I’ll ever use them again. At least at a hotel there’s staff there to help with any issues you have , plus they’ll come and clean everyday. I think air bnb’s were cool when they were cheaper than hotels, but now they’re so expensive . I had one where it did not look like the pictures at all, was in a super creepy building, nothing worked right, they were late having it ready, and the AC was broken. Went to a hotel instead and it was fantastic
Same! I stayed in an Airbnb that only collected rainwater. We used a lot of the water because we brought our own water filter for drinking water. They said no flushing number #1, but didn’t put that in all 4 of the bathrooms. We couldn’t do laundry like they said was part of the amenities. Two weeks after we left we were charged, $1200. They tried to say we broke the water pump by using too much water and burning the motor. They said we left too much trash, but we couldn’t do dishes because of the water problem. We didn’t have to pay it, but I cleaned and scrubbed the entire Bnb before we left. We stayed 5 nights too. There was no instructions on calling if the water was low or the water pump situation or trash. They said leave the trash on the porch. It was the worst…
I don't get it either. Most of them are priced just as much as a hotel. At a hotel at least I get clean sheets, towels and snacks every day and the security factor will always be a major plus for me.
BEST COMEDIAN ON RU-vid!!! Trey soooo “gets it.” He just nails the humor in such an intuitive, understanding way that’s beyond words. Clean and wholesome. Funny, relatable, and incredibly creative. The world appreciates your joy and humor for life! Thank you! Your little one on the way is going to have a blast! 🎉
I had two door to door politicians come to our door at the last airbnb we stayed at. The first one the door was open from us unpacking and the overly friendly guy basically came in. I had a portable breast pump going under my shirt. Never leave the door open during election season!
My first experience w Airbnb was interesting. The place was super cute and clean. But at 1 am, I was jolted out of my sleep to Steve Harvey screaming “happy new year”. The host was in the lowest part of the house watching tv as loud as possible. Did not know they would be there. 8/10 experience.
This is so spot on! I stay in hotels for work travel often and Airbnbs for personal travel. The last Airbnb we stayed in had life size Star Wars character cut outs all posed in the basement! 😂😂😂
@@davidred1809 did you know that ahead of time? I was just shocked as it was a normal house in the photos…and then to see in the basement all these Star Wars peeps staring at me. Which was fine. I’m cool with that!
Um maybe it’s cos I went to a country bumpkin school but when I was a kid my mum just had to tell the school someone else would be picking me up and give them ID and details
At the place we stayed in last weekend, it was so dark and none of the light switches seemed to go to the lights you would expect. It was an adventure! Ha!
Edit: welp I got part of this wrong. See my comment reply. Still better though. You’ll be happy to know AirBNB will no longer be allowing ridiculous cleaning fees along with making you clean. They will require locking up and turning out the lights and removing trash.
I thought they can still charge those ridiculous fees, but they will just be upfront rather than a check out. The idea is to have all the fees in the total price of the place rather than at the end when you’re ready to check out.
We had those in an apartment we lived in, and my newborn son was OBSESSED with staring at them. All day. He was nursed, lol. We called them the boob lights.
airbnb's used to be a great option for those on a budget or for groups that wanted to share one big place together. now, it's so expensive since many cities have started controlling and taxing the airbnb hosts. i've done my fair share of airbnb's to know what types i like to stay in and which ones to steer clear of, so i don't usually have particularly uncomfortable stays anymore. with the prices getting so high on them though, often times it's around the same price to just get a hotel where you can generally know what to expect depending on the type of hotel you're staying at. the area i travel to the most often, i've fortunately made good friends with an airbnb host after staying there a few times, so now i just contact him directly when i need a place to stay in that area. also, bedding is questionable no matter where you're staying...i never touch the comforters and sometimes even lay a towel over the pillow if i'm sus. and a good tip - before i leave any place, i always remove all the bedding and towels i've used and pile them on the floor. places are less likely to put the used sheets back on and it makes things a little easier for your underpaid maids.
We’ve used a lot of AirBnBs over the years. The kids definitely do better in a house rather than a hotel room but yeah, sometimes the cleaning stuff is a little ridiculous. This one place had us literally mop ourselves out of the house! Other places are supper chill and don’t have any check out instructions, which always makes me nervous 😅
I once went to an air b&b that had chickens and bees in the backyard. There were biscuits in the fridge to feed the chickens “for fun.” This was in downtown Atlanta. I can’t make this up.
I so relate to this video! We just stayed at an Airbnb for my son's wedding weekend and it had some odd things, too. And the cleaning and the rules, oh my! Spot on! Thanks for the laughs, Trey! I needed it today.
Don't forget the host asking you to leave 5 stars at the end even though it wasn't clean. How are you going to ask someone to leave a good review? You earn good reviews, not ask for them. And if their stay was exceptional (not just average) they will write one. If a host (or hotel) asks me to do this, I will rate them lower and mention this. Crazy how some don't understand this.
Speaking of stars/reviews...We recently stayed to days at a VRBO rental. We were bopping around Costa Rica and were coming from an Airbnb stay to the new location. It was supposed to be a 5 week stay, but the place was terrible for a variety of reasons. Anyway, when we got there and realized the unpleasant conditions, we reached out to the host and asked to change the reservations to only stay a week because we were trying to be nice - figuring this guy was expecting a certain amount of money from us. We didn't complain, just gave some excuse that sounded reasonable. He said he would give us back 80% of our money and asked us not to leave a bad review and in return he wouldn't leave US a bad review for changing our reservations after arrival. Well, long story short, conditions continued to deteriorate, and we realized there was no way that we could make it through a week of bugs, leaks, faulty appliances and so on. We left after two days to a much nicer and more expensive (sometimes you get what you pay for) Airbnb. He ended up giving us back 100% of our money after we explained the situation.
Typed a college essay for checkin instructions & my nerves trying to find that f***** key” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 the calligraphy thing for the WiFi 😂 FACTS!!!! Omg I’m screaming
Whatever you do - don’t stay in an Airbnb with only a private room but not the whole house- weird AF - you need to talk about that - totally different experience and honestly I’ve come to the point where in some towns it’s cheaper and nicer to stay in a three star hotel over an Airbnb
Totally agree with the three star hotel cheaper than an airbnb...totally worth it the not picking up the trash, saving the cleaning fee and not dealing with the weird check in/out instructions ...tired of the weird things I've been finding in airbnbs all over US...and internationally too!
I have to say that I stayed in a private room airbnb in Charleston, SC and had a wonderful experience - the couple left me alone but we still chatted about the area during my stay.
You just have to find one that’s a super host. As a single female traveler I like staying with a nice lady in some places that will give me local tips and they often have a nice lil continental breakfast and one lady even baked me banana bread muffin! 💖
I work at a hotel. Been there for almost 6 years, and the motto for beds is to pull the sheets tight and tuck in everything. It makes the bed look nicer. But I understand why you would need help from Thanos to tuck you in lol
A man tried to charge me for his actual tenants security deposit. No joke. He had a separate house section where his tenant was moving out. He told me he couldn’t afford to pay her her deposit back. After I left he made bogus charges like $400 for a mattress. He took a picture of THE ROOM IN HIS HOUSE AND NOT THE AIR BNB I STAYED IN. And air bnb AGREED with him! Picture wasn’t even my room and they said I have to pay for mattress damage. Needless to say I did not pay.
Last airbnb I was at advertised having 1.5 bathrooms and there was 1, I asked for a partial refund and the host left me a review saying I demanded a free stay 🙄
No that turning on the light moment is spot on bc WHY are there so many switches and lights that control random sections of the house that are not in the vicinity of the switch 😭
Don't forget. No coffee but there is random expired food left in the pantry and the fridge. There isn't enough room the the food you actually did bring and intended to use.
I've only had one bad Airbnb experience, but for a family of 6 it's worth it to get an Airbnb then hotel when I'm paying the same but get my own kitchen and the kids get more beds.
