Wonder Woman Lynda Carter swaps her hotpants for a hotline in this unintentionally hilarious made-for-TV hokum about a Samaritans style crisis helpline gal attracting the unwanted attentions of the fabulously monickered serial killer, The Barber (so-called because of his penchant for hacking off his victims locks), who delights in feeding her cryptic nursery rhyme style riddles when planning his next murder.

This was one of the first movies I saw upon my return from West Germany in January 1984. It aired on CBS, and it was two hours of unrelenting suspense and a touch of horror. Lynda Carter was perfectly cast. Thanks for loading up this here movie.

Hotline (1982) 2045pm 28.5.24 justin time to compare and contrast a bar fly with a serious down to earth chappie..... who could save her life. maybe this is a tawdry example of the jekyll and hyde syndorem regards male bravado vis-a-vis relations of an intimate nature with the oppostibe number as said oppostite number tries to lay down some bounderies betwixt herself and the hounds of hades sniffing round her boudoir....?

Lynda Carter was incredibly beautiful. Her face was perfect. Her blue eyes were stunning. How 1 person could have all that beauty. I remember her on TV all the time when I was a little girl. I loved WW. I love the old vintage movies I find on RU-vid. Especially with the commercials. This was a good one. Lynda Carter was only 30 yrs old here. Great movie. Murder mystery. I love murder mysteries. Especially with a great cast like in this movie. The cast was real good.

@@rvs8425 Yes I'm with you on this! Hotline is one of my favorites. @@audreyann1975 I think the most masterful works of art (be it film or book) succeed because of the implied action, invoking fear or dread, rather than in-your-face gorefest, which tires the consumer quickly and has very little nuance. Just look at how successful Blair Witch Project was, keeping audiences terrified while not actually showing much of anything, other than the protagonists' reactions.

This is my favorite made-for-tv movie with Lynda. Unfortunately, she was still so associated with Wonder Woman at the time, it was extremely difficult to see her as anyone other than Diana Prince. When Lynda played a woman in peril (especially looking and acting like Diana), all of us (of a certain age at this time) had trouble seeing her as anyone but Diana. I remember wishing she would simply spin into Wonder Woman and save herself when she’d be threatened. Same with “The Last Song,” “Born To Be Sold,” and the series “Partners in Crime.”

Dont know what all the haters are talking about, saying how bad this movie is. It was the 80's....ALL of these made-for-tv movies were cheeseball flicks!!! I loved this movie. I thought it was really good. It's a great murder mystery. It had me stumped about who the killer was. I had no idea it was who it was. I'm glad Lynda Carter was reserved for TV movies. She was the prettiest girl in Hollywood. Prettier than the big block buster actresses like Kim Basinger, Julia Roberts, Michelle Pfeifer, Demi Moore, Brooke Shields etc... Lynda Carter wasn't making big blockbusters on the silver screen and yet she was the prettiest girl in Hollywood. She had a great career.

When I see 'those' scenes all I can think is 'Well, Diana Prince wouldn't have put up with that harassment, and Wonder Woman would've just plain beat his a$$ like the clown he was!' I think I remember when this movie came out; it was probably 1982 unless she had another movie, and I was very young but old enough to associate Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter. It was hard for me to watch because I kept waiting for her to change into her 'original' outfit, lol!!! I Now I am older and able to appreciate Lynda Carter as a singer, as well as an actor, and she still looks wonderful and amazing:, I can now watch this movie and understand Lynda is a completely different character in this movie, and enjoy it fully in all it's glory, whew, very cathartic...

Actually, this is one of the better movies of that era of made-for-television films. While things are dated, there are many ways a modernization to the plot can work. The revelation was the part that totally threw me off, especially as they sold it being either the actor or the guy she was interested in actually running the hotline. The one issue I have is that, nowadays, the homoerotic undertone of Kyle's attachment to Tom would have gotten the network picketed.. even though things like that are proven to actually happen.
@audreyann1975
@audreyann1975 4 года назад
I don't think it was anything gay. I just think that Kyle was obsessed with Tom and hated women. I don't think this was enough to cause any backlash back in 82. I do remember AIDS just hitting the scene. It wasn't like a gay storyline or anything!
