Richter - *Kicks door open* - *Door knocks assault rifle out of mobster's hands, and into his own* - *Empties the magazine, clearing the room.* This was the moment I became a Richter fan.
Richter was one of the more relatable characters because he wasn't a total monster who enjoyed hurting people. He did it to save his mother's life which is noble.
well, the henchman felt remorse when killing thus making it a more human character, but Beard, Evan and Richter are the only ones that are sane...mentally sane.
@@czarnakoza9697 I agree, his murder spree on the Russian mafia was a crime of passion cuz beard died got nuked and jacket had a grudge on russians since he was in the army. But when he woke up in a hospital and finding out his gf was murdered, he just snapped. Didn't care of the cops or whoever dared to stay in his way. He seeked vengeance and nothing else. No after life or moving on into the future. He wasn't a sociopath but the things happening broke him beyond repair
MC Malzahar Don't be such a downer. Unlike other HM2 levels, which really focused on guns, Richter's levels are far more simillar to the original in their structure, allowing for effective use of melee weapons! Way for a character from the original to return!
GamevoinTr I must say that Richter's level were some of the hardest in the game - and some scenarios featured you with no weapons versus a gun henchman. I still agree that in concept, they are more similar to the original HM.
MC Malzahar To put it another way, the levels that felt LEAST like HM1 were the big open ones with 4 or more stages. Excluding Release, Richter's levels were pretty short and compact. A welcome relief after Casualties.
I would stop at maybe the second floor too just jam out to the music for a while even if I had a 20 kill streak with an assault rifle I would stop and jam out it’s great
Richter will always be my favorite character. Not only does he appear in hotline miami 1 but he's also one of the only sympathetic characters being that he's not violent in nature, he only started doing the killings because his mother was threatened. Richter is a kind soul.
You know, the act names fit well for HM2. In exposition we're introduced to part of the characters, their attitude, and stuff. Rising is where things start to boil up. We get introduced to Evan, and Henchman, who's story ends quick, earning The Fans a worse reputation. Climax starts Beard's story, Not a lot to talk about in into the pit, and dead ahead, and then there's Deathwish. Once you hear the gunshot, things start to *fall*. And that's when falling starts. Evan is once again fighting criminals, Beard's back, Jake's.. Dead, and Casualties starts.. At the outro of Beard's last level, the events start to fit together a bit. And then, there's Intermission, an intermission to the big events, focusing in Richter, the SECOND (evan exists) most merciful character in HM2's story. Catastrophe is the end. Son is now taking over the colombians, and Pardo.. Well, he had a bad dream. Feature Film: Apocalypse, is the final level in this game. And.. It's Son taking out the fans, his HQ, and himself (by accident).
Given this is a direct reference to the copshop shootout in Terminator, I feel this would have been much better suited for the intro chapter with Martin and his very own copshop shootout. Oh boy, that would've been the icing on the cake.
@@landchannel7688 Had to talk about it. Martin's "Decade Dance" is the absolute best tune they could have handed to such a one-time character. Martin's entire obsession was mostly related to mimicking the acts of the masked killer. More specifically, Martin was obsessed with what occured during Jacket's “Decadence” level. There's plenty of leitmotifs going on between both tracks, too. Thing is, Martin just can't get to grasp on Jacket's personality, so he only turns into a big rip-off of Decadence. Hence the similarities between track names, yet they are not the same.
Nah, Martin's suppossed to be a gory slasher killer and decade dance suits that pretty good, while this one had more of a high stake, urgence feeling that doesn't match Martin's level where the cops are pretty much meat for you to grind
It's not that simple. Richter is not a good man. But he also is not a bad man. We feel it. The game tries to tell that people is not just good or just bad. All the characters we care for are fucked up, violent individuals to the point they become manic for it, no doubt about it. But violence is an aspect of life, and we, as society, tend to label everything in one sweep. The game tries to show that we are more than just the shock we provoke on others. The characters all are attracted to hurting other people, there's something about it they can't resist; it's their go to choice (threats or no threats). And sometimes, so is ours.
Beard hates violence and is a devout pacifist the only time he hurts people was in war when he was forcefully drafted against his will. It’s not about that it’s about violence the whole entirety of violence it’s effect the people that do it and for all the reason to do it It’s also about a whole host of other stuff hotline Mamie took of more then it could chew. It’s a great game don’t get me wrong but it doesn’t say anything fully or with enough nuance then violence and the people that commit it. It’s great at taking about stuff the way it does stuff has reasons and makes sense the problem is there isn’t a full argument about anything but violence. That was story wise by the way the gameplay of hotline Miami 2 is fucked for the most part expect for a few truly exceptional and fantastic levels.
Deep down they all love hurting other people, but the game tries to tell that it's not that simple, or plainly bad. We care for these scary fucked up men. They are not just good, they are not just bad. They are people.
kicks open door... first guy has a bat.. pause rewind. kicks open door... first guy has a uzi take it die once again... pause rewind 5 kills restart 6 kills restart , 7 kills restart ect... only trophy hunters would understand... great song also by the way...
+Sunder Shadows probably most people in their first playthrough not knowing you could spare him. I am guilty of that. But once I found out you didn't have to kill him I always let him live.
I think we should have been able to use the silenced uzi on house call since in the last mission we raided a guns den. It would have been really great.
the level is easily cleared with melee m8 git gud, go play hard mode and get some balls and the mission only lasted ~1:00 or so so 1/3 of ths song isnt heard even tho this is by far one of the best tracks in the game
No, you mean the level where even on Normal Mode you had to Neo the shit out of a bunch of Melee Mobsters? I haven't even reached it in Hardmode and frankly I'm scared...
