About the polarizing looks; I think this exact platform would be an amazingly easy icon to add to the Acura lineup who is rebuilding their sporting credibility. It’s a great opportunity, in my opinion, to badge engineer a less radical aesthetic to the current Acura design cues inside and out. Just charge $10,000 or whatever would be competitive with a Audi S3 for this “Type R” hiding in a TSX A-Spec wrapper.
This is the Integra type R of our generation. In 20-30 years, these will have appreciated and be so hard to find. Really best front wheel drive sports car in the world. I also think may be wheels could be a bit smaller but otherwise so fine. And that color 😍 love that blue.
@@BrianMakse Yeah. I was looking forward to them being quite rare. Mine is 00137 and iirc the first year there was only 6k made worldwide. Well they have really ramped up production. I see them all the time in the Huntsville, AL area.
You can spec your CTR in black, but the iconic color, of course, is championship white. It’s going to be the color that will fetch the most money 20 years down the line if you care for that sort of stuff. Championship white is actually already fetching more money in the current resale market.
I called Honda main branch in California and told me that they don't know when to release the limited edition and asked me if I want to get a notification. I was waiting for the 2021 limited edition Type R and instead got the 2020 Rallye Red Type R. I love the LogR for the 2020edition.
@@BrianMakse I only tried and sampled LogR once on the street. I previously had an accident with my SRT Challenger when drag racing, license suspended and medical leave for 6 months.
Nice video. I personally don't agree with that comment about the color. This boost blue catches a lot of people attention, including girls they love it. So to me that's a win 🤷🏻♂️
With upgraded heads/valve springs the K20C1 could probably support 9000rpm reliably. I'm not sure there is any reason to do that though, 7000rpm feels very good. The Type R is much more rev happy and much smoother powerband compared to the WRX STI.
I live in Canada and been debating for a long time between getting a Type R or Sti! I only test drove the Sti before and loved the way it drive and how raw it felt. I was wondering if the Type R has the same raw engaging feeling? Which car would you pick between the two? Please let me know
Eddie, limited slip diffs are always better than open diffs, particularly in fwd applications. The N’s e diff is legit, not some crappy wheel spin mitigation. Oversteer is a function of how a road car is driven, not its set up. I don’t know anyone named Albert.
As a reasonably successful racer of Civics, the quick ones always come under extra scrutiny for me. What do you think of this 2020 Honda Civic Type R refresh?
I LOVE the Type R. For me, a hot hatch needs to look like a hot hatch, and with the Type R, you will not get this confused with the $10,000 less Civic Si. Don't much care for the Active Sound and I don't understand why you can't turn it off. I also question the long term reliability of the adaptive radar with this manual but I just love this generation Type R anyways so it's all good to me. This car still does a great job of holding its value. Thanks for the review.
@@BrianMakse Ok so Gundams are giant robots from an anime series called Mobile Suit Gundam that's been running since the 70s. I was pointing out that the Type R has the same design or similar design to these robots. duckduckgo.com/?q=gundam+head&atb=v234-4__&t=cros&iax=images&ia=images
Yeah. One of the main reasons I got the Type R was because it was also functional for loading stuff in the hatch. Plus I've always liked Hondas. But had they released a coupe Type R I probably would have jumped on it.
@@BrianMakse my girlfriend lives in the UK and has one there. Different markets different levels of gadgets. Hers is the 2017 and it came with Hondasight and lane watch and adaptive cruise control which couldn't be found on cars in North America. She chose smoke charcoal Grey as colour which is not available here until this year I believe??
@@BrianMakse No problem, enjoyed your review. Ive looked on honda UK website and it appears that the 2019 model year is still shown, not 2020 with the revisions you listed. Although it's it made here, it appears we don't have the updates yet, including the colour.
First thing to be done is replace those wheels, especially if you live in a city with the road quality level as Toronto. The dealer my bodyshop worked for had done so many wheel and tire replacements. P.S. That blue is awesome. #cigartime Malkionx
Not surprised about the 20s. I'm surprised I haven't wrecked any with my two local tests over the years. Black is the only paint colour for the Type R for anyone who's not a teenager! (It's definitely cigar time!)
Brian Makse lmao I’m turning 27 Wednesday pfft teenager :p though I’m the only person who would replace the rear spoiler with the spoon swan neck. Would look great street parked covered in snow.
on a run watching a few of your reviews. 2 things 1-you will only go so far with shooting with a phone as far as upping your footage quality. same wide angle shots on everything. 2-when panning, decide where youre going to stop. with the pan shot of the rims, you slowed down on the rear and said, eh fuck, lets se the fronts as well. also, when you do pans youre doing too much time of the pan and less of what youre focusing on at the end. and youre shooting from too far out of the scene. less pan time and just a second more on the item youre focusing on. also, try a slow zoom effect. and that jitter needs fixing in post. invest in a dslr and an 85mm for some tele shots for the pass by. that phone wide angle shot does not convey speed or nimbleness of a car because its too long in a frame. , get a winding round and shoot that. youll need another person down the line. but you have good narration and it flows it well.
Exhaust noise is still impotent, for a car thats mechanically ace. thing that really puts me and family off is the CTR only seats 4 , why oh why not Honda just add 1 extra seatbelt in rear??! Adds massive convenience at minimum cost. It’s make or break for ppl who sometimes have to carry 5 ppl. what is there to lose by adding an extra seatbelt to rear.? Nothing, but everything to gain. l for one won’t choose one because of it, l often have 5 in car. Practicalities are essential for hot hatch. Like if feel the same
Totally agree when it comes to racing, but hatchback also needs to be practical on non racing days or family trips so why Honda just add extra set of seatbelts?! Cost? Weight? Please! I love to buy it but doesn’t seat5,so going for rival which is still fun but seats family
@@nixodian Even if it can't sit 3 in the back, I think the Type R is the most practical sports car you can buy. Can fit 4 full size wheels and tires... i'm going to test it out next season... I will have 4 full size wheels/tires, floor jack, tools, cooler, helmet, etc. Can't do that with a coupe or even a WRX STI... my STI was no able to even fit one full size tire/wheel in the trunk. Theoritically if someone is small they can just put a low cushion in the middle and try to share the seatbelt, but thats probably not that safe.
After all these years the design has still not grown on me and that exhaust note is underwhelming. Couldn’t they come close to the sound of a Fiat Abarth? I know, you buy to drive it.
lol GTI is just as ugly or uglier than a CTR.. its like trying to pick out which piece of poop looks better in your toilet :P if you're 55 you should be in a grand grand marquis :P
Huge fan of honda/acura but its still ugly AF.. maybe im a fan of older civics with k swaps and s2000 and nsx.. and of course.. the INTEGRA TYPE R :D honestly i would pick up a kia stinger over the CTR right now..
@@BrianMakse yes they're different kind of cars. civic is a small hatch and stinger is a big hatch lol i think they're similar in a way..because they are both 4 doors, both "hatchback" ,both turbo charged, both are asian car makers . they both have 4 wheels and they are very closely priced too. but the stinger looks better and it is alot faster than a CTR
Brian Makse the vomit only arises when you say “hot hatch.” No diagnosis needed. Otherwise life is great. Although, banging your Mom in the back of her Type R is getting a little boring.
