Just in case anyone wants know the custom paint company involved in that Deviate 🙋♂️😉 Great you guys love it thanks for the awesome words and the close look at it. So much work went into it from everyone. Incredible artwork by Doug and yep some stressful times were had back in the paint shop to finish it off and get it all built in time. And amazing to actually win amongst an incredible line up, it’s so go to have a stand where we all get to show off our work amongst the big players. P.s. it’s not an e-bike, it’s a killer enduro race machine…. But who really cares 😁
That bike is stunning. I don't care what bike it's on, going roady and a suitable theme may keep it clean though, one for the dry days. Too good to sully, I think, and hope you may get some phone calls after this. Appreciate your work.
Hi everyone, thanks for your lovely comments. I painted the Deviate and worked closely with the amazing JMJ Designs and Deviate Cycles to make this dream come true. JMJ 's finishing is amazing! It was incredible to see all of these works of art. It truly was an honour to get the chance to paint onto such a wonderful machine and to be displaying alongside these awesome bikes. We are over the moon to have won and hope to continue this adventure. Thanks to GCN for taking the time to feature this. It has a great story behind it and we have a film coming out soon that explains the journey in more detail. Thanks ❤️
@GCN Tech It is very much appreciated. This one has been tough going but extremely enjoyable. It will do some touring of art gallery exhibitions alongside my art and cycle events. After its adventures, I either ride, sell , or display it. Although it was originally meant for me to cycle and to look pretty behind my art and cycling videos. I am now scared to sit on it! The next journey is the short movie behind how Deviate Cycles, JMJ Designs, and I met and a bit into the process of developing the bike. After that is shown, then I am sure we can build on this years achievement. Meanwhile, I appreciate all the publicity and how talented the other artists were to create such beautiful paint jobs and builds. It truly has been inspiring and such an honour. Oh! and painting aside...The Claymore is a fantastic bike to ride. Thanks
I love Ollie's enthusiasm when it comes to reviewing new bikes. I'm with Ollie. How would one want to ride these bikes with the fear of scratches and dings. I would just mount over a nice fireplace with coffee in hand and just enjoy!
Back when I raced my team was sponsored by LandShark here in the US all the frames were custom painted mine was done By my moms second grade school children and then it was clear coated. That got a lot of attention
Excellent review, skilled filming and a good job done on picking out those amazing paint jobs. My favourite thing was seeing Ollie walk past us as we waited outside in the light rain overcast conditions for the doors to open at the show…..we were desperate for a coffee & it has to be said that Ollie looked as if he was also in need of that morning coffee hit!
Went to the launch of the Pearson Forge Last week. The designer, Scott and Guy Pearson himself presented the bike, the tech, the process etc. I have ordered one.
The custom paint scene went absolutely insane since I started painting 10-12yrs ago. 💯🙏🤘Keep turning out these works of art! That Claymore is one of the best I've seen in a while
Amazing work. The Astana Wilier would be my preference. The van looked amazing. Not too big and not convinced that you'd happily cook inside the larger vans.
Ollie was like a little boy in a sweet shop. . His eyes lit up brighter than some of the paint jobs he was showing. Great honest presentation with an honesty only Ollie can bring. .
Great segment, Ollie absolutely loves it, which is infectious. Custom paint is a fun side to the hobby/sport, and worth mentioning way beyond a new spec component on a mates bike. The Deviate MTB is stunning, detail is exquisite, too good to ride. For my part, the Blue Wilier is much nicer, imagining in different colours, dark blue and contrast dark red for the blood soaked effect perhaps.
Love this video!! It won't help me wait for my bike!! It is hitting the paint shop may 2nd! Colors will stay the same but I'll go from matte black to satin black(front of the bike) and have some clear coat added to the chameleon paint(rear and top tube) I'll also have the Brand lettering paint brush gold with a faded 3d effect and the front logo pint stripe gold. Gold chain to get Ollie approval. Gold and green anodized bolts and parts to match chameleon paint. Polished crankset and lever. I'll put a ceramic coat , top it with another product to boost the gloss and top it off with another product for better shine! I think I will put my bike on display on a motorized platform and leave it inside..I'll be too scared to ride it outside and put scratches on it! 😂
This video seemed more about the paint than anything I normally think of as "technical". Custom paint is cool, but I kind of want to know about the engineering in the frames and components. Still, gave it a like.
I'd only buy adventure-endurance geometry, I am far for being super flexible pro 60kg 180+cm racer/rider. I'd like to enjoy my 50km rides, not suffer :)! Hope this trend will follow, more relaxed geometries with nice designs
Quirk mamtor -- beautiful paint job, love the idea of a kintsugi theme, shame they f'ed up the Japanese letters on the fork (you'd think they'd have someone to check lol)
