Throughout this mini course we will learn to build a procedural prop with Houdini 18 and look at a bunch of techniques that help us procedurally model and generate uvs. We then will wrap everything up into a Digital Asset so we can make unlimited variations of our Ramp model and prep them for texturing in Mixer 2020.
Once we bake and export everything out from Houdini, we will then learn how to use Mixer 2020 from the ground up. We will learn to create clean texture layers, place decals, and apply imperfections to our ramp model in Mixer 2020.
Once we are finished with our Ramp model we will then get it into Unity and Unreal and get it set up with materials and lighting.
By the end of the course you will have a solid understanding of modeling procedurally with Houdini 18 and how to use Mixer 2020 for texturing.

Procedural characters sometime soon? 😏 that would be a neat tutorial, even if it’s not fully procedural (maybe using normal fbx assets as presets and organizing them procedurally or something?).

Yeah, I like the idea of managing Character Variations with Houdini and maybe some PDG. Ill put it on the list and see when I can get to it. Good idea!

Amazing! I have a question about procedural texture. When you texture the props in quixel and import it to unity, the model is not procedural any more. By that, I mean the model is procedural in houdini, but once you textured it and import to game engine and change the parameters, the texture will be stretched

You are correct, unless you are using the Houdini Engine. This series shows how to use Houdini in a normal prop modeling scenario. To be truly procedural all the time, youd want to use the Houdini Engine.

@@IndiePixel3D Thanks for the reply, is there any tutorial about the procedural uv tutorial for game engine. I have watched your Race Tool courses on udemy. But I think the procedural uv only works well with the sweep node in Houdini 18

Well, you can use the UV texture node and a little vex to control your uvs...as for a tutorial, I dont think theres and tut purely focused on procedural uvs...lots a vids that touch on it though.
