This deep shelter was built in the second world war as a dressing station/hospital for local gun batteries.
In the late 80s these tunnels were used by eurotunnel for fire training. All the light fixings are from the eurotunnel era.
These tunnels were sealed in the early 1990s and opened for a short time in 2015.

What a nice way to spend an afternoon, exploring old tunnels in disuse in which there is nothing but rubbles and dead ends. How nice it is also, to gather around a pint at the local pub after the exploration and comment endlessly on what the afternoon experience has brought to you, how it has enriched you, how it has made you stand out as an individual compared to all other human beings that probably have better things to do. And how nice to be able to upload the video of such exciting and dangerous adventures for all RU-vidrs to see and envy you. Your contribution to History is priceless.

It's very sobering to get a grasp on the soldiers that were injured and treated there and those that passed away for our freedom, surrealistic in a sense. Much appreciate and enjoy your videos!

So clean! I managed to hear about this tunnel only a day after it was dug, me and my daughter couldn't wait to get up there. But if a squeeze for my brother getting in lol. Hats off to you for taking the time to video it :-) I've just watched a couple of yours vids and they're quality mate 👍🏻 give me a pm I could probably point you to at a couple you probably haven't explored yet that have been opened up very recently. Just came across your channel. Subscribed ;). Used to subscribe to the Defence of Britain website, but sadly that seems to be no more. Those places give me a bit of a shudder. Not for ghosts or spiders but I just think of the "what if". Grandfather was in auxilliary units - regret paying little more than lip service. Good job lads

so much old cool stuff in europe, there isn't anything like that in the U.S. very few thing like this in this country. cant really explore any of the bunker that are abandoned, they normally keep them "reserved list" in case of total emergency. there is a gigantic abandoned bunker san Francisco thats off limits to the public but people explore it "illegally", but its in good shape and ready for renovation at any moment if necessary.

IKS Exploration no worries only stumbled apon your channel the other day my grandfather used to be mad for this type of stuff i also checked the roc sites in my area there are quite a few some privetly owned and in use and others in not so good shape i wouldnt mind exploring some of the local sites i never new there so many bunkers hidden right under our noses. keep up the good work i already watched most of your roc site vids and im really enjoying them :)

My cousin is an ex-miner and partial to a bit of exploring, he wouldn't attempt an underground jaunt without a meter to measure O2, CO, CO2 & CH4. - Great channel BTW ;)

You lads were panting pretty hard, was the air thin in there? How long are the tunnels? Did they lead to a hospital, or were there subterranean operating theaters, as well? On the ground close to the power box, were some bricks that looked intentionally piled, what were they at one time? I'm glad to see it was free of destructive graffiti. many thanks for the comment :) This bunker was an underground dressing station for coastal gun batteries in the south east of England. These were only used for miner injuries anything worse they would be sorted best they could then driven to a Hospital in local towns :)

In Poland, exactly in Wałbrzych (place in South Poland) we have similar Tunnels (in Polish: Sztolnie) which they were performed by slaves in concentration camps. Thousands of people were killed while digging. Now we have engima about Gold Train. If you want know more about Gold Train write "Gold Train in Walbrzych" at Google it's very intresting. Sorry for my English :) !

+Michael Waller no I don't, this bunker was sealed in the late 1980s to 2015 and I was the second person to go in after all them years. It was only open for a day before I went in. The air in parts of the tunnels was thin and not good. Thanks for the comment :)

seal them up to stop people going inside and getting hurt and killed maybe. if there not needed they seal them. i believe anyway :)

sounds like there've been some efforts to fill the bunker with soil and rocks at some point in the past but not fully done ... certain 'dead ends' also looked like a wall was built there later and there must be more room behind them ...

+dadautube all entrances would have had concrete block houses protecting the shelter entrances :) many years later well after the war they were demolished and remains thrown into the shelter, then covered it will soil.

The Tripower box is a transformer don't know what year its from but maybe they used it for telex communication because it says on the box👍 possibly from 1970s or 80s

It's really weird to watch this because I have one in my back garden (clearly not this size) but the structure is very similar. Ours was used in WW2 for the street if there was an attack. Not that there ever was where I live. But this video has totally creeped me out, will never be able to sit in mine the same again. Ours is a little cleaner and cause my grandads a nutter it's fully stocked and has two bunkers 😂 no electricity other than a lightbulb though 😂

Really enjoyed watching this one, the bunker was massive. We visited a WW2 air raid shelter north of the border, which I read was one of the largest underground ones still left in the UK, but this is definitely bigger. What was the height like inside? You guys are better at preserving or not touching abandoned pieces of history....in america, abandoned pieces of history are burned, smashed and spray painted all over or used by drug users as hideouts.....wish i could get to the UK and explore
