Here is another Hour Magazine cast reunion, this time with the cast of "Our Miss Brooks," including Eve Arden and Richard Crenna (both long gone!) Taped in 1985.
Eve Arden was a one of a kind actress with her quick sassy come back humor lines. She and the rest of the cast made the show a big hit when comedy was genuine compared to today's weak attempts to deliver comedy shows.
I loved Our Miss Brooks as a kid. I was born in 1951 and I guess I was probably watching re runs and didn't know it. It was a great show and so funny and I loved Richard Crenna as Walter Denton.
Big fan of the entire cast, especially these two...especially Eve Arden. Listened to that show on radio when I was a baby and toddler, then watched it on tv throughout its run. The voices of these two actors (as well as Gale Gordon's) are archetypes in my life since they were among the first sounds I heard repeatedly--ha, for better or worse---at such a young age. The shows were so very charming in their silliness and lovable goofballs...and Eve Arden had that unforgettable voice and blase attitude unlike any other actor or actress. What a pleasant surprise to see this "reunion".
Richard Crenna was known as Dick Crenna back in the day. My favorite show. Eve Arden was kinda of like Groucho Marx. Gail Gordon was the cantankerous high school principal.
Frank Denardo ; I find myself watching the old re runs of Our Miss Brooks still today. That was good, clean, family friendly TV not like the trash out there today.
Crenna was a big drinker, he wouldn’t let Eve take center s5age like any alcoholic, grabbing all the grandiose attention. Eve being a lady sat quietly.
TRIVIA : She is Woody Allen's favorite actress. He asked her to play Hannah's mother in "Hannah and her Sisters". But her husband was very ill and she could not leave his side.
