During most of the movie, particularly the last act, my thought process went like this: "There's going to be a jump-scare now, isn't there?" *jump-scare* "Yep, knew it."

personally I liked it but not for the right reasons instead of being on the edge of my seat I was just depressed and felt bad for ryan ( the crazy dude with chicks in his basement ) because all he wanted was love and his sister back due to abuse inflicted on him from his parents
@riripari2042
@riripari2042 4 года назад
I felt bad for him too. I mean he had most of the town hating on him for little reason. All they knew was that the sister murdered the parents while he was away yet the way they treated him it was as if they thought he was in on it as well. And for what? Because he didn't agree to have the house brought down like they all wanted since it was a bad stain on their neighborhood? Yeah, that's annoying but how bad does it look when there are literal parents antagonizing this damaged kid? Nobody ever thought to check up on him or push him to get counseling.

Seriously I know. And that snippet of an ending where Ryan is dressed as Carrie Ann was soul crushing.

I actually loved this movie! I understand why people dont, because it is not really a good movie, but after seing it once I couldn't stop thinking about it. I think what fascinates me is the character Ryan, who is so kind and lonely and then suddenly turns out to be a pshyco murderer... Plus it got an awesome twist, PLUS Jen is in it... I think this movie must be my guilty pleasure... :-P

I had a bad feeling about him since we were introduced to Ryan. And then when he was talking to Elissa about that everyone has secrets. That was a red flag for me. Like I was thinking, well was other secrets is he hiding from us.

For the record, this film finished filming back in 2010, which was right around the time that she first started getting attention. In other words, it wasn't a recent decision to be in this movie, the studio has just been holding onto it for forever and decided to finally release it because Lawrence is hot stuff now.

100 people out of 150,000 subscribers = 0.066666%. But to the 0.06% of my fans who want me to review "Last Airbender", here is my take as I am in "book 2"; It's an enjoyable cartoon. I don't quite have the attachment to it you have. However, I do realize that when people say "Review this show, it's so awesome"; what they mean is "Review this show and love it as much as I do!" But I don't. It's enjoyable enough yes, but I love shows like "Breaking Bad" & "Game of Thrones". Just being honest.

I love this movie! I mean, it's not an awesome movie, it isn't even okay; it's terrible! This is a guilty pleasure movie for me. First time around, I predicted the twist and the movie itself is just laughably bad! As a HUGE fan of Jennifer Lawrence, I sadly, thought she sucked in the movie. Picking apart the movie scene by scene is fun though.

You know, I never understood why people think Jenny here is a great actress honestly. She's got barely more range than the Twilight Princess in terms of facial expressions and her tone in terms of movie dialog always sounds the same. Like she's kinda emotionless and above it all or like she's ready to cry at any given moment. I mean she's very beautiful and I love her eyes but..... to me she's not all that great. Not bad by any stretch but not great.

Just saw it and enjoyed it more than I thought I would mostly because of the twist. Acting was pretty good, the "scares" were predictable, and it did seem more like a romance at some point even though I think the writers tried to make you like Ryan during those scenes. But yeah the twist was really good in my opinion and that's what really kept this movie from being "another stupid movie"

The movie was shot in 2009 or 2008, before JenLaw was cast in Winters Bone. It's like Don's Plum with Leonardo Dicaprio. That movie was also shot several years before Titanic came out, but it was released in 2001 to take advantage of his fame.

Well not exactly, hence I said "some" inspiration from Sleepaway Camp. But the twist is a very similar one to Sleepaway Camp, because *DOUBLE SPOILER FOR BOTH MOVIES* both films have a twist dealing with boy whose guardian(s) forced them to grow up as a girl, despite being male. *END OF DOUBLE SPOILER*

Yeah. What makes Avatar more convenient though is that it's only about 60 episodes. Naruto has just reached 500 episodes in total, and that's a lot to review. But the show is just great, it's the best cartoon/anime I've ever seen. And the development of characters are great, and as you say, it's very deep and emotional, with a lot of story. It's got so many characters, and almost everyone is awesome.

Well, they filmed this movie in Canada.. Actually they filmed it pretty close to my place, so I know it looks like there are only 2 houses but there can be a huge house with like at least 3 acres each and some houses are hidden by the forests and such, so neighbourhood gatherings are not many people who live in a huuugeee place.

Hey yeah that's an idea! It's hella long tho. But waaay more mature than avatar, like it has blood and combat and stuff, its not for little kids. Story wise it's one of those things that can just get you completely addicted and it gets realllllly deep and emotional at one point. I actually had no idea it was anime when I first started watching it in like, the 6th grade haha.

...Most sensible people wouldn't? It was given very high ratings by nearly every major review site, so well received that it won the Game of Year 2011, and coming from someone who never read or watched anything of the series; I had a ton of fun with the game. Just because you didn't particularly enjoy the game doesn't mean you have to insult other people.

No it doesn't, because a moment of somebody saying something can't, in and of itself, be a remake of a movie. It might make sense if you add in a few words i.e. "the best MOMENT IN..." but "when X says..." is not an entire movie.

Late response.....since 2012, but I JUST watched this movie today. I think there's more here than meets the eye. I didn't realize until the very end of the movie that Jacob's parents forced him to BECOME his sister after her sudden death as a child. You see in the beginning that the creepy parents are off....addicts, etc. You never really see Carrie Ann's face in the early scenes, because it is NOT, in fact, Carrie Ann. But JACOB! His hair covering his face, same loose nightgown....all you DO see is the piercing blue eyes that both siblings possessed. Which is referenced a couple of times. By Jennifer's character, commenting on it after seeing an old family photo AND the blue contact cases she later found in the trash can. Jacob was NOT sent away "upstate", as told in the story, but rather forced to take his sister's place. Which you only see at the end of the movie in his memory of being given a birthday party and cake to celebrate Carrie Ann. Who is dead. He says to his mother, I'M NOT CARRIE ANN! And she hits him with something that looks similar to what he, or "Carrie Ann" killed both of their parents with. In order to cope with this trauma, Jacob abducts different women, possibly resembling Carrie Ann, forcing them to wear the blue contacts, etc. There IS a romance between Jacob and JL's character....much of the plot WAS a little bit....I Know What You Did Last Summer & the title WAS completely irrelevant. But if the psychosomatic coping mechanism that Jacob developed to deal with his shockingly severe trauma was brought out more in the plot with a bit less 'battle of the bands', this movie had the potential to be a really good psychological thriller. In ending, the REAL Carrie Ann was NEVER in the basement. 💭💥

Me personally I think the horror movie genre is dead! I have yet to see a horror movie in today's time that had a good plot and was also actually scary! When movies like Halloween, The Exorcist, Psycho, Scream, The Amityville Horror, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play came out, they not only were scary but they had a cultural impact on society. That's the kind of horror movie I want to see again! A horror movie that's not only box office hit but a memorable classic!

I don't think she's playing a teenager in the Silver Lining Playbook. If she is, that'd be very awkward for the potential romance in that movie. It's weird to see her playing an adult after the last few movies where she's played someone under twenty.

Hmmm... Well the best suspense/thriller film would obviously come from Alfred Hitchcock. Hmmm... I will say flip a coin between Rear Window and Vertigo. I prefer Rear Window, but Vertigo is a better made film. But it doesn't really matter which is better CONSIDERING IT'S ALFRED HITCHCOCK!
