Great job, I really enjoyed this video. It makes me to want to play more Boltons... especially that bit about "skilled players want the challenge that Boltons present". Even if I lose, I'll take solace in knowing that I intentionally handicapped myself. 😆 All jokes aside, I've anecdotally had much better success with Boltons than their Stats numbers would suggest. They're a very fun faction and, when their mechanics work for you, they can be devastating to play against.
While it is possible to be more successfull than Stats may suggest, its still not possible to compete in a competetive enviroment. I would even say, that against an equally skilled player, no matter his faction, your handicaped at least. If opponent plays one of the top Factions I would say there is no chance to win :/ Edit: But they are really a fun faction, dont get me wrong. For beer and prezel, a round of bolton can be hilarious either way :)
I'd really like to see one of these videos for Greyjoys soon. Just got into the game with my partner, and they picked up Greyjoys while I got Baratheons. The Baratheon video helped me, I'd imagine a greyjoy one would help him
Solid faction review! Gives me hope for greater things…. Had good fun with Steelshanks and a double bastard girl list today…. That rush of aggression is such a good card!
This was a great vid! Boltons are what got me started in this game, grabbing my interest, so lovely to see a vid like this! Very insightful looking at everything! Don't suppose in the future you might take a look at what neutrals could add to a Bolton list? Curious now that they're available! Great vid!
Boltons need an aggressive attack unit. Double-bladed axemen would be neat because no faction has them yet. Maybe with the sidearm of a blade of some sort.
Bolton's have two defensive units. Flayed Men can be a vanguard or support. The last 3 units are support. So keep in mind if you're getting two Girls you have two supports in your list taking 14 pts.
Does Jeyne Poole and Walder Frey not give the initiative back to your opponent the turn after you steal it? I thought that it did but I’m also a newer player so maybe I’m wrong. Having first 5 turns in a row seems really good…
Initiative does return to the other player the following round. Basically you can take Initiative for 4 rounds out of 6, and games rarely make it to the 6th anyway.
My question is when everything is good or at least solid why did the faction perform overall only bad/mediocre? My only answer is that the underlying panic token mechanic is too weak, at least against some factions. Opinions?
In my last tournament I got steamrolled by a meta Lannister Mountain Imp, and a meta Night's Watch Stone Thrower. I did however won a game with 1 NCU double Flayed Men list.
