HOUSE BUILDING IN THE PHILIPPINES EPISODE 28: FOUR COLUMN DONE Message us: Facebook: / retiredandhappyinph Email: retiredandhappyinphilippines@gmail.com
From what I have learned from workers who did block laying of our house, you should not fill the hollow blocks full to the brim if you are going to stop the laying (break time or during time offs). This will give a good and strong connection for the succeeding layers of blocks if you continue the work.
Better to weld stir up than hand tie wire...Another common pilipino practice that should be upgraded is....putting horizontal rebars in between hollow blocks...U.S. building inspectors always say....PUT THE HOT DOG INSIDE THE BUN....the hotdogs are the rebars...the bun is the hollow blocks or cinder blocks. U.S. cinder blocks are premade to have slots for rebar insertion....To remedy this pilipino practice...Cut slots inside hollow blocks with diamond cutter to insert rebars...
Here in Perú we don't leave the vibrator inside the column while filling it with concrete, because the aggregate (stones) tend to go the the bottom. Congratulations on your house.
Ties are not Properly Hook and spacing should at least 150mm Max. Welding a 10mm Bars Ties could week the bars. just hook it Properly no need to weld it.
Nice.. I remember the day when I was in phillipines... I'm painter/mason/tile setter..if we have a house building all over in Manila.. we made a basketball court .. mostly in subdivision like that.even all-day tired in work.. we play ah basketball 3 on 3.. ##nice I really miss that..
Really enjoyed watching your videos... 😍 We are planning to build our house maybe next year... Hope you can share to us your actual expenses... God bless your family. 😊
Hey guys, Just a quick comment about the columns. In about three months you are going to be doing electrical work. There needs to be electrical runs through the upper beams which needs to be internal and come from somewhere and often up through columns. A 1" pipe with sweep bends up the columns near the circuit breaker box and down from any sub panels like in a kitchen and exits like at floor level to the outdoor bahay kubo or dirty kitchen. It would have been nice to have receptical conduits in the floor but you likely have an alternative plan for that. george and aurora
Septic Tank seems too deep. Maximum Depth is 1.80mts for the Bacteria to fumction. Digestive chamber is 2/3 in total Lengths m, while Leaching well is 1/3.
Can you tell us how you chose the architect? We are looking at building a small pension house. No plumbing (on the first building). Plumbing is elsewhere. One floor. First person quoted us a price to design based purely on square footage. Second floor will double the design price (even though the floor plan will be identical. Only a stairwell and railings are added. Not much design there. Is this common practice? Seems a bit expensive.
That is very for concrete pour drop. Don’t they have copy of the plan when they work for rference. Yes, continue to install incorrect ties hook.. no need to dig the compcted soil, you have to recompact it again., they filled in the same level of the block which is incorrect. Should stop at 3/4 level of the blovk.
I have a question. You say that there were problems with the corners of the concrete re PILLARS. If so, I suggest that it is because your concrete is far too wet. The aggregate will collect at the corners and the paste will disaggregate leaving just the aggregate in place. Pilipino workers do not appear to grasp the fact that Concrete is formed through a chemical reaction and hydration, and is not a mix of solids held together by glue that can be diluted. Any idiot Pilipino who says that watering down concrete to increase its workability and is a traditional best practice, is lying.
