Another house clean out! It’s amazing what people just throw away! Books, treasures & antiques escape the dumpster and are headed to the flea market tomorrow!
The best thing about this video would have to be the excitement of Gabby’s voice every time she found something you somewhat missed. Then, the proud Dad voice you had each additional one she brought you. It kept me smiling the whole way through. ...OH, and add all the cool places/ things you were able to find/grab. Thanks for an awesome hour.
I wonder if it crossed your mind...it was an artist’s house...that all the pictures, paintings and prints were worth probably more then the books he collected.
I loved listening and watching Gabby help you! Give her another couple of years and she is Going to have learned so much from you; she is sure to be a very knowledgeable assistant. These are times Gabby will remember doing with you and cherishing all her life.
Cracked me up when Gabby said "No Thank You, I should not touch that. It is very old".. She recognizes her limits. Thanks for taking us on your journey today!!! ☮
Praise for Gabby and her attention to detail! She is soaking up all the knowledge Dad is imparting on her! You are very lucky, Gabby, to have a dad teach you all that cool stuff! Great job! You should be proud. :)
I use to work with my dad when I was young, I am 65 and still enjoy thinking of the gold old days mining for mica with my dad. It is nice to see you being so patient with little Gab and her being so interested in finding treasures.
What an awesome opportunity! The books, the art, the silver, the purses, the cutlery!! OMG! You sure scored on SO many things besides the carvings and the lamp. My Mother was in the estate sale business for 50 years. Watching you with Gabby reminded me of my experiences with my Mother. The stories of homes we went through are engrained forever in my heart. The best was finding a hidden room 12x12 filled with oriental rugs never opened still rolled and wrapped in paper from the 1800's. Many were banquet room size.
My favorite things were the back porch finds & the trunk. You’ve taught Gaby well she has a good eye & it’s awesome that you take them along. Those lessons are priceless.
Ikr! It will just be second nature to her by starting out young. I hope she doesn't leave it behind in her teen years. She will be a virtual encyclopedia of knowledge!
Seriously my favorite video by far!! I so didn’t want it to end. You were teaching me so many different things! I am craving for more! I love to learn more then anything! Even shopping! Ok now for the best statue,,, Of course I must vote for Gabbys! I prefer it’s eyes over the ringed eyes of the other. I love it so much that you reward her for her finds! It will inspire her to want to explore even more, and you validate her interests. You rock!
I love the way you are so patient with Gabby and teaching her everything you know. The way she said “maybe I shouldn’t touch this” shows how respectful she is of older items. She is precious.
BBD YOU HAVE THE BEST GUARDIAN ANGELS LOOKING OUT FOR YOU AND HOOKING YOU UP WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE!! AND GABBY TO HELP IS A PLUS. WOW!! STILL SOME TREASURE LEFT BEHIND FOR YOU. GREAT VIDEO 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍.
OMG! Last one. I kept thinking, sensory overload! Then I remembered how as a seller you have to look at what will sell not what you want or think you need to keep. And I have said before I put myself through college selling antiques/ collectables. The stuff I sold with my mom was sometimes heartbreaking to sell but I bought my books and paid the bills. Thank you !
Pretty cool thoughts Mai. As a buyer and seller of Vintage Toys on eBay I find myself wanting to keep half of what I buy. Doing that never gives a good profit. But as you say "you have to look at what will sell NOT what you want to keep!" If you do that then you will have good profits. Take Care.
You are a so trustworthy that's why they let you in and pick whatever you deem valuable. You deserve it! Good things come to great guys 🤩. And Gabby! She is a great picker in the making 😍. I love her character and her style as well. Great job young lady 😃
Wind in the Willows was first published in 1908. It is fabulous to see Gabby so enthusiastic and wanting to work with you. Think she maybe following in her father's footsteps. Hi from the land of the Kiwi.
Very honorable for you to ask the owner about the silver photo album. I'm a big believer in karma. Some of those books must be worth a bundle. Good luck!
I am PUTTING MY BET GABBY IN A FEW YEARS WITH YOUR TRANING BBD US GOING TO BE A PHENOMENON TREASURE HUNTER WITH HER OWN ANTIQUES ROAD SHOW.SHE HAVE THE KEEN EYES LIKE HER DAD. I KNOW YOU ARE SO PROUD OF HER BBD.
What a blast I had watching this video. You and your daughter have a very special relationship and she is learning so much. My fantasy is to do what you did in this video. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to leave anything!
Hi David ,What in the world David , You've got the best Karma of anyone dude ! I'm truly happy for you man 🧔 I can't get the smile off my mug ! What a great journey ! Bless you and your"s 💛🧡💜❤💚💙 PEACE
It's great you have included your children at an early age...great quality time. Their minds are like a sponge and they are learning a lot with these adventures of the past Great job!
Hello I'm glad your daughter shares the same excitement you have for the treasures you find. That's very special. Good luck in your digging in history.
I just love how patient you are with Gabby. I truly believe that every kid should learn a trade. It develops their minds for independent critical thinking. Even at her age, you can see that’s she’s already picked up so much knowledge. She will never be dependent on anyone else. GOOD JOB DAD!!!!
Some of that large paper might be watercolor color paper usually sells for $9 apiece. The boxes are used by artists to store things, noticed there were nicer ones on the first floor when you came in. I use them to store collage papers in. They are definitely sellable and they are not cheap to buy. Good pick BBD and Gabby was a big help!
45 years ago, when I was 11, my parents bought a really old house in our small town. The lady who had owned it received an inheiritance. She took what she wanted and left the rest in a huge pile (over 4' tall!) in one of the bedrooms. The basement and garage had loads of stuff too. It was so cool going through that pile of stuff and finding treasures.
The beaded purses Gabby found are worth a lot of money add a another zero to the the price, maybe even more! Have them appraised! Great find! Love this video! Thanks
I would pay to do this scavenger hunt... such fun! What an amazing house and the people that lived there must have traveled everywhere! What an amazing eye for beauty!
This was defiantly the best video to date for me. Love old houses ( I live in a 1910 farm house) Love the enthusiasm of Gabby and I do believe you have instilled in her the importance of old things and things that are rich in history. Really a great video though!! Thanks!
Out of all the videos that I’ve watched of yours and there have been many. I think this is my favorite you , your gal and both of your kids exploring and your daughter has a really good eye on what to look for. Plus I like the house it’s big and old with a lot of rooms. You never know one day your daughter might even open up a antique shop. Your kids both have the skills to do it, good job dad. !
Wow - that's a fantastic haul! Really fun to watch you with your daughter - she's delightful and you're a patient and calm dad. In fact that's one of the things I like about your videos - calm and quiet and real. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome finds BBD. Gabby gets daddy's eyes for collectibles. Since you have that warehouse, I would have taken everything and sorted it out later. Believe there are still more treasures in there. Thanks for taking us along. 👍✌🤙🇬🇺
To me it is sad that Gabby has acquired her Dad's attitude towards sterling silver and gold of any number of karats. He overlooks any potential artistic value of the items and only is interested in the number of grams of precious metal and its potential monetary worth/gram. She is following in his footsteps, although she is the jeweler in the family.
Epic finds! I too took my kids hunting for objects of interest. Your videos are really good at showing the hard work that we actually do. I carried my daughter as a baby on my hip picking. She's now 25 and still will help me pack up from the flea. OMG!! That statue is awesome sauce!!!
I loved this video with the two of you. She definitely has your genes for this! Your parenting skill is remarkable. Encouraging and you instilled confidence and your competitive spirit to her! Very cool!
Blue Bus Dave you’re doing it right. My boy is 33 now and he still like to hang with mom when he can 😁😁😁. Keep up what your doing and she’ll always be your little girl no matter what.
What a dream opportunity! Overwhelming amount of art books and amazing art, antique frames, beaded bags, etc. I was awed at every turn of a page or body. "Dad. Dad!!!"
It's sad. You're going through someone's Treasures and a life time of Memories.. I always find video's like this exciting to witness all the beautiful things but also very sad thinking of about the person who they belonged to
What a great house clean out! Amazing stuff in there. Sad they left it behind, but, great for you Dave. Gabby is a good helper, I like her Mayan piece because it’s green and oxidized with age. I like yours cause it’s sticking its tongue out lol. The books are fantastic too. It must have been suffocating in the crawl space. Whew! Peace.
That floor lamp was beautiful. I like the book of advertising art, too....and Gabby's purses. I adore the photo album. And, omg! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the French design book.
I would like to thank you for sharing this, I really like houses like that so much character. You also remind me of doing that stuff with my dad, your daughter will cherish this alot as years go by more and more. I can go with my dad anymore and miss him even stronger than that,so thank you very much
Gosh, this reminds me of my childhood. My dad was a gardener and landscaper but would occasionally do house clean-outs as well. I loved going through stuff. Gabby reminds me of myself as a little girl. Gabby's statue wins!
