I am SOO ready to move out of state. We live in California, and the housing cost out here is ASTRONOMICAL! You’re LITERALLY, ONLY paying to live in Cali. That’s it. That’s all! Purchasing out of state like TX and ATL really allows you to get a nice size home AND land, for a fraction of the cost of the market out here!
Mary congratulations to you and your hubby!!! The homes you're looking at are beautiful!!! Words of advice from a homeowner, if this hasn't been done yet, have the realtor pull up the stats for the school districts of these areas you're interested in, check the schools' ratings, percentage of kids that graduate, programs that are offered, scholarships etc. You want your future children to have access to the best of education. Also, look at the taxes for the houses in these areas so you all will have a realistic view of your expenses after purchasing your dream home. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I was motivated by a young single mom on the job who bought a home. I'm 50 something and got my first home 16 yeas ago. They have a gov program that can help single moms buy their first home. In texas you get more for your money. You can do it!

The upgrades are so beautiful and it will bring the price up, and before you know it.... you will go over budget. We had a budget as well, but we had what we call over budget savings just in case.
The first house’s master bathroom suite is everything. The tub in the middle of the separate vanities. The separate closets. Everything about that bathroom was a dream. Definitely luxury hotel vibes. 😍😍😍😍

I'm overjoyed you changed realtors because the last woman didn't have that spark nor upbeat personality that she was trying to satisfy your wants, but she came across very dry & as if she only wanted you to purchase a home whether you were pleased or not & for her to show you the first home that was already sold without you knowing in advance seemed very unprofessional. Plus I agree with you Mary about not liking the pillars, but there should be homes that has the cathedral oval door entrance without the pillars. I keep mentioning cathedral look because these types of homes stand out to me the most & really make the front of the house landscape look grand & rich. Buying a new home now is very smart, especially before having children because what you would've spent on them now can be added to your overall budget for purchasing the home of your dreams without being limited. Then whenever you both decide to grow your family everything will already be in place in regards to living space & a big backyard. Mary you are also right about not waiting until retirement to enjoy a better quality of life because you got to live a little in the moment now & especially at your younger age to still create lasting memories with a great legacy & foundation. Plus the schools are great. Lovely neighborhoods . I live in Melissa which is north of McKinney and those areas so I know a whole lot about living out here in north Dallas area

Love it! Keep the house hunting videos coming. One thing Mary, be careful that the circular stairs are wide enough for moving furniture up and down them. We (I) was dying when they delivered my heavy sectional to the upstairs bonus room. I was on them “watch my walls 😳”. I know they were sick of me but I didn’t care!! Hi, my favorite house from both videos is the one in Dallas with the beautiful white marble bathroom with the extra large tub in the middle of his and her sinks. Also, I loved the kitchen too but I love white cabinetry but I know you prefer dark. Prayers for you and your hubby during this house hunting journey.
Must be a Cleveland thing! I’m so like Him! You never know when life will happen you want to be in position when it does. I’m sure many didn’t expect to be out of work with Covid.
Things to consider when building/buying a home, location, location, location! The location will determine the annual equity gain. Because you guys are going to have children you definitely want to consider the school district. You may want to consider work, and church commute distance. You may also want to consider how close you are to city venues, restaurants and museums etc… for your weekly date nights.
Glad your looking in North Dallas area you get more for your money in Texas. Just a fyi when you buy a two story check and see if the house has one or two water heaters. If only one it may take some time for the hot water to reach the second floor. But I have a old house I've been told it happens in new builds ago. Good luck
Im in Wylie! Please consider looking more into Highland and Perry homes! They have that higher pitched elevation options that you are looking for in front of the home. Their homes are gorgeous
