House of The Dragon 1x1 | First Time Watching | ok.. Daemon is hot 

It’s great to see the attitude of letting the past be the past. As someone who loves all of game of thrones it’s so sad to hear people be stuck in the past and bitter about how it ended. Great video.

Rehnerhya and alicent are childhood friends extremely close... sister and partner in crime type of bonding that's all... And yes... daemon is awesome and the chemistry between him and rehnerhya is just damn coool

Daemon Targaryen is my all time favourite character from A song of Ice and Fire especially his Dragon Caraxes the Blood wyrm. He's not a good character but at the same time he's not an evil character either he's very morally grey but loves his brother Viserys and Rhaenyra.

I missed you reacting to the Westeros world. From how House Of The Dragon looks so far, you will be once again in love with this world. Team Daemon! Team Black!

Team Daemon! He's ambitious, but he loves his family and wouldn't hurt them... He speaks facts about the council also, they all prey on viserys... Also notice that we didn't see Daemon actually call his nephew "the heir for a day"... It could easily have been made up by Hightower... I hope it can reach the quality of peak GoT (S1-4)...

The King is only 36y old btw. Its not like he is expected to die soon. His reaction to the small council wasting no time, to discuss the succession to the throne, is very understandable, imo. Its clearly shown that they all just have their own interests in mind - hes right about calling them "crows that feast on his families corpses".

While I am enjoying most of the characters, Daemon is by far my favourite. While I found his introduction interesting, for some reason it was the off hand delivery of “time will tell” in response to his brother saying that he hoped he wouldn’t have to maim half his subjects, that made me absolutely love the character.

The queen was going to die either way, he decided to give the baby a chance to live. Rhaenyra and Alicent are just childhood friends, that is all.

If you love Matt Smith in this, I highly reccomend checking out Doctor Who at some point. He was a major part of it at one point and he became one of my favorite actors during that time.

The term "second son", like it was used when referring to Daemon, is a recurring theme. In GOT, some second sons ended up at the Wall. And some established the Second Sons army of sellswords Otto Hightower - think of Littlefinger - only difference is he doesn't seem as slimy as Littlefinger. But he plays the Game, as you saw with his daughter Alicent, Rhaenyra's best friend.

It's like we all had a really bad breakup and now our ex really seems to have cleaned up their act

This wedding wasn't about Rhaenyra and Laenor at all. It wasn't about Daemon, Viserys, none of them. "One flesh, one heart...I am yours and you're mine. Whatever may come"...That was about the two tortured souls, united by fate, under that moonlit tree. It's them who were becoming one, until the bitter end.

Viserys is not too emotional. He watched his wife bleed to death and his baby son die. He does need time. The fact that he held a meeting at all is something. Name me one character of GOT who could sit in council after such an ordeal.

Daemon is a charismatic and interesting character. Though from a moral standpoint he’s a creepy sadistic monster. Yet it doesn’t seem to stop people from “shipping” Daemon with his child niece that he’s been grooming for a seat of power. Apparently if you’re cute and act like a badass, people will defend blatant crimes and ignore just how dangerous you are.

That isn’t the Sept of Baelor you saw. That was the dragonpit. Also, the Sept “of Baelor” doesn’t exist yet, as King Baelor hasn’t been born for another ~40 years from the start of this show. There is a sept in this show, fyi, but not the Baelor one.

Yes, Daemon is hot. He is gorgeous, charismatic, and dangerous. So is a tiger; and I would trust a tiger before I'd trust Daemon Targaryen. Lord Corlys Velaryon is my House of the Dragon-boyfriend. I loved HOTD's first season; it's been better than most of Game of Thrones.

Succession is not a matter of strict, unchanging rules. Whoever has power can change the rules and we see this happening today. When a head of state has enough support, he can have the rules changed so that he stays in power - Putin did this recently and Caesar did it 2000 years ago by having the Roman Senate name him dictator for life. Viserys' grandfather called for a great council to decide on the new heir so that decision would be better accepted but that did not set a rule, only a precedent. Now Viserys is setting a new precedent: the king names his heir; it happens to be his eldest child, regardless of gender. So Rhaenys has no claim because she is not named heir by the king but there is always room for dissent. Rhaenys and her husband could withdraw their support or pressure the king into changing his decision to secure that support. Conflicting parties could form at court, or within the council. In the end, those who control violence decide. That brother with 2000 guards and a big dragon will probably have a say.

That was not the Sept of Baelor. He was not even born yet. That was the Dragon's Pit.

I'm *so glad* I found your reaction. I love your excitement, and on top of that you're so observant! I relate a lot, haha, and you reacted the same way that I did to many of these things. Also, I always do the pausing myself when I'm watching something to like, process it as well heh. I don't mind that at all. I went into this having seen no trailers and read none of the source material for this, so it was a really fun experience. "I don't know if I want him to be king, but I like him" - SAME. He obviously has ambition (but i would agree, not sure it's for the throne, I think it's more of a principle "you should acknowledge me" kind of thing), and he's a bit of an arrogant prick, but he's a *genuine* person, somehow. He'll say it like it is. And, like you said, he's very charming. While also being, you know, princely arrogant and violent. About Rhaenyra and Daemon and Rhaenyra and Alicent I got the same vibe as you for both of them. The actress for Rhaenyra has spoken a lot about her being at that age where it's difficult sometimes to tell the difference between platonic, romantic and desire, and I think that shows. All close relationships are just *a lot* of emotions. I know a lot of people are saying that her and Alicent are "just" best friends, but a lot of people I talked to also got the feeling that there was something more there, and I think the actresses deliberately played it that way. I think that can be true at the same time as there's well, definitely some tension between Rhaenyra and her uncle. You know, Targaryens... 😆 Anyway, rambled on long enough but I loved your insight and now I'm onwards to the next reaction! Can't wait to see your reaction to that.

I think Deamon and the princess will end up getting together eventually and maybe being the beginning of the interbreading when it came to their house but we shall see. I love Matt smith so naturally I love Daemon too and the princess reminds me of a cross between Daenerys and Arya which is interesting.

Idk much about succession but it seems pretty clear cut that daemon should get the throne unless the king has a son. So it'll be very interesting to see how it all plays out. BTW I dont think rhaenrya and daemon have anything going on. I think its just uncle and niece being close friends thats the vibe I got from their scenes

Viserys seems to be easily influenced, I think he will die because of his diabetes before someone kills him. Daemon could become a menace to the kingdom, but he would be useful for the plot. Rhaenyra needs to prove her value as a future queen, I liked she didn't have forced speaking lines. I was forgetting the crudity in this medieval world, but we must not judge past ages using mentality of our present.
