One hundred percent with the both of you. Daemon is being portrayed amazingly, his core motivations are clearly a deep love for his family and a desperate want to be accepted and valued by his brother, it just that he’s also a petulant little shit in how he goes about expressing it; a great example being his stealing a dragon egg, and faking a wedding and pregnancy just because he misses his big brother and apparently taking over the family seat wasn’t enough to get him to come for a visit. Unfortunately for Daemon his brother still didn’t come, but he got the second best response, a visit from the niece he adore, both in the regular way…and probably the Targaryen way….though had she not shown up he would have gotten the consolation price of getting to watch his dragon eat Otto…so all around it was pretty much going to be all wins for Daemon. I love that Pilar focused on the subtle threat to Corlys in the final scene regarding the difference between how he gets to talk about his brother, versus how other people are allowed to talk about his brother in his earshot. One of favourite character elements of the show is how Rhaenyra understands her uncle better than anyone, just as he does her, and that she appears to adore Daemon’s “little shitness”, as can be seen by the smirk she gives him as he’s walking away after tossing the egg to her. It’s the same one she gave him when she caught him sitting on the throne, and after he asked for Alicent’s favour after messing up her brother’s face in the joust…all in front of Otto...I could honestly watch at least an entire season of just Daemon pissing on Otto’s day. A lot of other viewers have asked for a flashback to Viserys riding Balerion, me I just want a flashback episode of watching exactly how long Daemon has made a sport of messing with Otto, because you get the impression it has been years.

@@pilarslittlestudio In the book there's mentioned one particular - unconfirmed - reason why Hightower might hate Daemon so much: SPOILER (although it will probably never mentioned in the show) ...because he seduced his daughter Alicent Hightower and took her virginity. Remember their interaction during the tourney in episode 1: after Daemon beat her brother he asked for Alicent's favor right in front of Otto, to provoke him even more. :)

Alicent didn't tell Rhaenyra about her growing relationship with Rhaenyra's father because Rhaenyra's father, their King, told Alicent not to tell Rhaenyra about their talks. That's a royal request or command. Alicent could not have told Rhaenyra.

It's not that dumb. Maybe Valyrion has many ships. But Otto Hightower is basically the richest guy in the land.

@@johnnyskinwalker4095 Nah its pretty dumb. Ships are responsible for trade outside of westeros. Man on the small council already said Valyrion was the wealthiest house in the land.

Ok but literally no one advised him to marry her.. not even her father. All of his advisors and his heir agreed on the best choice.

@@ASageCalledQ Maybe it's a retcon for the show because in the books, the Hightowers have always been the richest. They come from Old Town which is the financial center of Westeros at the time. Valyrion's house are the oldest and more prestigious though. I'm not saying he should not have married to House Valyrion but that I have seen worse than House Hightower. They have all the connections, everything.

Maybe he feels like he might die soon due to his condition so he chose the girl who could give him an hair sooner

@@SerpentJ13 I'm sure that's a factor, but they've gone to great lengths to show their interactions and how he clearly appreciates her, even to the point he tells her he worries if she told his daughter she wouldn't understand. He genuinely likes her.

He chose Alicent because he is a weak King who is easily manipulated by Otto and Alicent. The best non-marriage example of how easily manipulated he is would be the fact that he was so easily swayed by Otto to send Otto to deal with Daemon, Otto the one character we have been shown so far that Daemon loathes beyond anyone else, and lives to provoke, that is the sensible choice to send, by this point I can’t help but feel that it is nothing short of a miracle that Viserys hasn’t managed to completely impale himself on the throne.

I also get the feeling that Alycent is actually a year or two older than the Princess, which would make her 16 or 17. I know historically ladies in waiting were usually a little older than their charges (when the charge was young.)

@@AL-fl4jk while he is a weak king. He knows joining houses with the sea snake, will force him into a war. But, I suspect there is a bigger twist. The king knows the Dragons always lead to death and blood. With the Secret is the king killed his own dragon.

She's 18 in the book and there is no reason to think she is not in the show.

@@pilarslittlestudio It does or at least it should but in this case it appears King Viserys made the emotional choice over the more logical and preferred (preferred by the small council) choice. He has just ignited a fuse that cannot be unlit. This reminds me of watching "The Crown" on Netflix, where we constantly see the Royals having to do what duty requires over what they want (duty over desire).

@@pilarslittlestudio Rhaenys was not jealous. She just understands the ORDER OF THINGS. She wanted to wed her daughter Laena even if he bothers her. She doesn't like that but that's how the world works. Laena was the strongest match. Uniting the most powerful house (Targaryen) with the richest house (Velaryon).

They are because he is. He planted his daughter next to the king the day his wife died in childbirth. The look in his eyes doesn’t match the words in his mouth. He’s shady AF and the masters and the Hightowers are plotting against the Targaryens, for sure. They used to be the most powerful family in Westeros before Aegons conquest.

But you asked why he did this and I just wanted to note there are understandable reasons why he choose Alicent. He might be a weak King, but he just lost his wife! I agree with the first part of your comment but do not understand the last part. What do you mean by just a serie? Im assuming English is your second language and I would like to know what you mean by that. I see the lack of empathy and caring from people regarding the horrors of human trafficking the same as you. I hate a pimp and/or a slaver more than most anything.
