this is prob a weird comment, but the fact that you two were heartbroken instead of grossed out by the still birth was refreshing. so many people just hate that scene and think it was unnecessary and as someone who witnessed a still birth and helped family through the grief, I think it was absolutely necessary to illustrate every graphic moment of that for the impact it had

aemond might not have had the intention to kill lucerys but he still chased him through a storm on a giant vicious wild beast having it snap and antagonise the other dragon. he could have at least stopped when lucerys temporarily got away through the caves, but no, he was still following and looking for him. he already scared the shit out of lucerys, what was even the point to keep going after him? what was supposed to happen other than death for aemond to stop? he's definitely at fault.

Aemond just learned a very valuable lesson that many of us has already learned: Play a stupid game, win a stupid prize. I now know him as Aemond the Manslaughterer!

If I chased my little cousin and his chihuahua around with a pitbull and the leash snaps, it's still my fault. Aemond is at fault but he didn't want to murder, so this is manslaughter.

The scene with the dragons is a reminder to all of us that even though Targaryen's are Dragon Riders , dragons are still wild animals with their own instincts of survival. Once you get them playing roughly with each other, they go into Attack mode out of instinct like any wild creature.

I feel bad for Rhaenyra she lost so much her father, her baby and one of her sons. I understand her rage at the end.

I'm sure someone has already commented on it but the issues were that Arrax couldn't outrun Vhagar because of the storm. You could see Arrax constantly beating its wings against the storm winds. The second thing is Vhagar is the second largest known dragon since the days of old Valryia and was bred for and served in war. so when Arrax panicked and blasted her in the face, she got that bloodlust and went apeshit against Aemond's will. Like they say, "The idea that we control Dragons without magic is merely an illusion".

35:50 But Aemond DID kill her child whether it was intentional or not. Aemond is just too dumb and petty to understand that a dragon is no slave. They don’t think about ‘jokingly’ tormenting and chasing, they are literal beasts. For Vhagar this was like being attacked during war and Arrax is a child dragon, and felt rightfully attacked, both dragons reacted on instict. The main reason I like Rhaenyra is that like Alicent she had domineering men in her life but unlike Alicent she didn’t serve them, she absorbed the best parts of them. A good parent and peaceful from Vis and unafraid and strong from Daemon. I think he was super antagonistic towards her because he could see the Vis in her. On top of realizing if Vis didn’t tell him about the prophecy, he probably didn’t really consider him heir.

Pay attention to details, there's a few Daemon and Caraxes scene from ep 1 that will tell you a lot. Ep 1> Daemon having a lovey dovey moment with Caraxes, and he take Mysaria's hand and let her touch Caraxes Ep 2> Caraxes come on cue when Daemon draw his sword towards Otto Ep 3> Not a single dracarys from Daemon but Caraxes burn in control, react when Daemon got hit with the arrow. Also, this caught my attention that when Daemon go to fight the crabs, did he chain Caraxes? I read someone's comment about this too, "how did Daemon convinced Caraxes to stay?" Because he always react to Daemon, or probably Caraxes being the good boy as he is just stay calm obeyed Daemon Lol Ep 6> my favorite moment.. fly high in the air and Daemon lift his hands up (foreshadowing 😏), Daemon The Show Off, how much trust between him and Caraxes.. fly without a care through the fire.. Ep 10> "I'm presenting you a choice" and Caraxes show up, why is he always on cue? Never heard Daemon called him.. And this awesome scene. The riderless dragon for over 40 years, sing to him, probably to some kind of "wake him up" from his super long me time.. didn't flinch and look at Vermithor in the eye.. Daemon is something else when it comes to Dragons. I read this somewhere that describe him, "he is not a dragonrider but a dragonlord"

The dragon Daemon was singing to is Vermithor it was King Jaehaerys's dragon ( King Viserys's and princess Rhaenys's grandfather ) since Jaehaerys died he went wild again, he is known to be the second largest dragon in the world at that time period, the first being Vaghar, so having Vermithor is a good move on Daemon

I love how ready daemon was for the dragon situation. He'd been counting and keeping track, collecting eggs and doing research on strays this whole time seeing the writing on the walls for the past ten years 🤌

From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping with the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was more vulnerable and it wasn't easy. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and Viserys's wife died in childbirth.) As he fell to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to take that baby away so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome... Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. Daemon is not a saint, but he is definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him. There are two teams, the Green Team that belongs to Alicent and the Black Team that belongs to Rhaenyra, I hope to see Rhaenyra with fire in her eyes in the second season, The Greens will pay for everything they did.

I am so annoyed at people saying Aemond didn't mean to kill Luke. What did he think was gonna happen when he chased after him and kept taunting him with Vhagar? Vhagar is the realms largest living battle dragon. They were bread for war not to be toyed with at the whims of an arrogant asshole. Additionally dragons feed off of the energy of their riders. Aemon was being a bully so Vhagar being naturally aggressive went after Aarax several times. Aerax sensing Luke's fear and also seeing a huge dragon is on his trail became defensive. In short this is all that 1 eyed assholes fault he inadvertently killed Luke due to his hubris and stupidity 🤨😒. I loved Luke's character 😔🤧😩😫 he was just so sweet ❤🤧

Aemond had been affiliated with a pig twice, once in a dragon keep, and once for Viscerys's final dinner. Aemond has spent a lot of time training with Sir Christen Cole, but in all that time I bet Sir Christen never told him the story of Rhaenyra and the boar (aka the wild pig). Aemond just facilitated the death of one of her sweetest children while her life is being threated by Aemonds grandfather, mother, and brother, the lot of whom Rhaenyra sees as traitors. Poor Aemond, the future does not bode well for you. You, dear Aemond, have pissed off a woman with the power of a queen, with dominion over dragons and their riders, who survived what her mother and sister in law did not, by reaching into her own birth canal and removing the issue. Poor Aemond, losing an eye was horrid, but nothing compared to what may, and likely will come for you. But keep acting like a pig if you want.

Yeah, I have to remember that. This is the very first mission that the queen has sent her sons on. Lucerys would feel like he was letting his queen and his mother down if he just turned around and left. We know she would’ve been glad that he did but in his mind, he would be disobeying her order to just leave before he delivered the message.

Rhaenyra's cold fury at the end was exquisite. Too many blows too soon after one another, and the gloves are off. This series is a masterwork. If I hadn't subbed during Fight Club, you two would have gained it with your reactions and analysis to this! Looking forward to checking out more. Some I'll be avoiding because I have yet to watch them on tv. Noticed that since a few days ago you look to have gained several hundred more subs as well - congrats on the growth!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned but she doesn't bend the knee during the crowning scene because she's the woman of her house... Only her husband can choose whether their family will bend the knee or not so she literally isn't allowed to bend her knee without talking to her husband first in that scene. Good job that you guys caught it, though! A lot of reacters have missed that little detail that she is the ONLY one standing upright at the end.

He’s Jahaerys Targaryen’s dragons and it’s just been on Dragonstone without a rider since he passed away. Idk if you guys caught it or not but daemon mentioned silverwing too along with Vermithor and that’s Alysanne Targaryen’s dragon also on Dragonstone with Vermithor. Alysanne was Jahaerys’s sister

when I saw the chomp scene I was like "omg Aemond you screwed up real bad!"

Aemond didn't want that but still 100% his fault. Think of it like sicking a dog on someone to intimidate them, then losing control and watching the dog maul them to death. He created the situation that resulted in Luke's death, it's his responsibility to treat his dragon with the respect it deserves. Especially a battle-worn, ancient one like Vhagar. It's not a toy to bully a kid with, you can't use a dragon like that unless you intend to kill the target. He should have known better, the outcome was predictable.

I would do exactly what she was doing, but Daemon's so damn impatient!! You don't want to strike first because then the people saw that you were in aggressor and they're going to remember that your whole reign! She was playing it just fine until it happened at the end, And as far as Daemon When he choked her goes... In essence, that was just another big FU from his brother from the grave, that basically said he never honestly thought of him as an heir to the throne because he never shared the prophecy with him so that was why he ended up getting angry mostly

Intentional or not, Aemond was the only one at fault there. Prince Luce and his dragon are only really young, and being chased by a dragon the size of Vhagar and being cornered is going to cause the smaller dragon to retaliate, and Vhagar is a veteran war dragon, if she gets attacked, she's going to kill whatever attacked her.

The best episode of the show! Rhaenyra is my favorite Targaryen! She lost her dad, her baby, her son, the throne her dad gave her, never wanted to fight, now she can kill anybody she wants I'm 100% behind her! 🤷🏼‍♀️ #TeamBlack 🖤 And what can we say about Emma D'Arcy... Daemon putting his hand on Rhaenyra was because of the prophecy because Viserys didn't tell him (that doesn't exist in the books that the writers vented in the series) I understand the fight we two have because they don't say it on the same page, do the daemon putting his hand on Rhaenyra, I think it was overkill, it wasn't necessary and the moment the daemon lets go of Rhaenyra, you can see in the daemon's and Rhaenyra's eyes that they are both hurting and Rhaenyra says she never told him this and she smiles because she is realizing that Viserys chose her as heir to the throne because Viserys didn't tell the daemon and Rhaenyra thought that Viserys told him because the daemon had 10 years as heir and Viserys and after those 10 years, Viserys never told him so he keeps imagining in the daemon's head how my brother who I loved so much never trusted me now the daemon must be very hurt because the daemon always wanted to show his value to Viserys and he loves his brother the daemon and someone he has a hot head , he is proud, but he also has feelings, but sometimes he ends up expressing them wrongly, then the daemon loses another son because he already lost one, then he discovers that his brother died Then later he discovers that his brother never trusted him and that it hurts his heart and daemon is feeling all of this but he ends up putting these feelings on everyone else, rhaenyra who is not to blame is the moment he lets go she sees his sad eyes and before he leaves if you notice he looks down he looks at her belly Then he remembers the daughter they lost, Daemon didn't stay with Rhaenyra because he didn't want to make the same choice he made with Laena the daemon has truama in fact the daemon always had for those who don't know the daemon's mother daemon died in childbirth so the daemon already has a trauma because he never wanted to have children, so the daemon didn't want to be with Rhaenyra so he wouldn't make the same choice there when Rhaenyra loses her son Rhaenyra keeps her daughter since the daemon goes to the beach suffers there this reminds me in the first episode of the throne scene there is a daemon and viserys is the daemon tells Viserys that each person suffers in a different way, and it reminds me of the scene where the two are suffering each alone, but Rheenyra and Daemon are mourning their daughter, unfortunately we didn't see much of the other side of the daemon this season because the writers and HBO preferred not to show it, in my opinion the most wronged one is Matt Smith Bro, he did several scenes of the daemon showing the side sentimental of the daemon, him hugging his daughters, he is on the beach suffering for the death of his daughter with Rhaenyra and he spends hours and hours on the ground suffering for the death of Visenya and we simply received in this episode just a quick scene of him suffering for his daughter in the book says a lot that the daemon is a great father and he loved his two wives Laena and Rhaenyra unlike the series which showed very little and I find it very sad because they are not showing the real daemon Of course he is hot headed and he is crazy but man he loves his family he would never hurt his family even the actor himself says that the daemon who would give his life for Viserys is Rhaenyra and it is very sad what they are doing with this character. 35:21 The scene at the end was Matt's idea, he had an idea that the person who should break the news of Luke's death should be the daemon, the writers and Emma gave up on the idea, they gave up, if you notice at the time of the scene when the daemon enters in the room, rhaenyra's attention goes to the daemon because she knows something happened and on the way the daemon is approaching rhaenyra you notice that he puts his hand on his face indicating that he cried there when he approached rhaenyra he is not even able to look us in her eyes 3:44 I'm sorry for Rhaenyra, she lost her father and didn't even say goodbye to her father or go to the funeral, I don't even know if it was because she didn't attend Viserys' funeral and even more so Rhaenyra lost two children Luke is Visenya, In the Book Rhaenyra She blames the Greens for the death of her baby and if you think she is right because she lost the baby it was because of the Greens, her own brother stole the throne from her and Alicent hid Viserys' death, Rhaenyra is pregnant, we all know that a A woman cannot take too much emotion or stress because it is dangerous for the baby and she received the news right away. Only one behaving like a true leader was Rhaenyra. Daemon throughout the whole episode was a testament to what both Viserys and Otto have been saying since day 1. Daemon is not fit for a King. Daemon fans don't get your panties in a twist he is still a badass just too impulsive and hot headed to rule. Master of war is the only position that he is suited for

Daemon over reacted to seeing Rhaenyra act like Viserys and speak like him. Daemon belives his brother was too lenient and that cost them, he doesn’t want Rhaenyra to make the same mistakes. I don’t condone him grabbing her like that, but he is also under lots of stress, full of anger, frustration, and grief. Neither are right or wrong in their approach, but this time Daemon is the one who is correct. They are not dealing with people with integrity or honor. Can’t play nice with people like that.

Messengers or envoys are not meant to be attacked, but that only works if you are engaging with people of honor.

33:31 you're absolutely right, ARRAX is faster "in a normal weather". It's not big enough to Glide through a heavy STORM like VHAGAR. It's speed advantage is neutralized , even made worse due to the storm.

A crazy war scene idea in the next season would be (I’ve never read the books, I’m just imagining this) A dragon rider already burned to death and still on the dragon whose body is impaled with a giant spear, turns the ground to a sea of flames with no music in the background except the sound of screaming, fire, and the sound of its wing flapping. And after everyone on the ground is dead, the spear which was through the dragon finally finishes it off and drops to the ground, dead. The screen fades to black with nothing breathing on the battlefield except a gentle breeze. The (final) dance of the dragons”

Aemond: I want his eye. Or to scare him a tad Vhagar: He can keep his eye… “The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion.” AMAZING for the writing in the future honestly with the dragon/rider bonds. “No one can tame a dragon, not even their mother” - Jorah Mormont. (people complain that by the books Aemond actually wanted to kill him - GRRM himself said the show is 100% how the events happened while Fire and Blood - a history book written from many povs is the story told by people who guessed the history and intentions.) Him taunting and playing led to serious consequences - he was in sorrow and also regret when it happened since it is his nephew and no matter what he never wanted true malice. But yet also realizing that this war was jumpstarted and he fcked up. No one would believe that it was a technical accident. (In reality it was inevitable, Daemon would never let it slide that his family wasn’t on the throne. A great character but also not nearly a good person sadly.)

Viserys told us what happened in Valyria and he didn't noticed 😂😂😂 when he is talking to Rhaenyra, 1st episode.. And the same sentence justified Vhagar's actions towards Aemond. " The idea that we control dragons is an illusion. They're a power, man should've never trifled with. One that brought Valyria it's doom, if we don't mind our own histories , it will do the same to us" Dragons turned on themselves and burned the entire city to the ground.. now he know what causes the doom.

I love how this ep was a parallel to ep 7: Aemond and Rhaenyra struggled reining in their claimed dragon (Vhagar & Daemon).

The dragon Daemon was singing in the cave was his grandfather’s King Jaehaerys I Targaryen dragon Vermithor. Maybe he knows the song from his grandfather.

@The Media Knights if I was in the book this is how the my chapter paragraph would go: Into Dragonmount “Dylaerya awoke from his sleep he planned to sneak into Dragonmount to befriend one of the dragons. He made sure Daemon and Rhaenyra were asleep before heading off he lit up a torch and made the long journey to Dragonmount. When he got there he entered through a secret entrance to get past the guards. When he was in he headed down a gigantic hallway and came to a gigantic room. He entered the room singing a song in his native Targaryen tongue. He slowly walked up the stairs slowly still chanting the melodic song. When he reached the top he heard a noise then Swordtooth let out a breath of fire creating a big wall a fire lighting up the gigantic room show there was also Ashfyre, Ghostscale, Cragcreeper, Knightslayer, Goldvein, Windwalker, Tidemaster and Vulcanthax were also in the gigantic room too who were starting to stir. Windwalker was interested in me he came over he roared shooting out a bit of fire before drawing the fire back in. Dylaerya swallowed and continued to sing the melodic Targaryen song that seemed to calm down the dragons. He put down the torch and reached out to touch Windwalker who reluctantly put his snout into his hand then Dylaerya turned around to see a angry Daemon standing in the entrance of the room “Seves!” He yelled the dragons obeyed the order turned and walked away. Daemon came up to Dylaerya and grabbed him by the neck before dragging him back into Dragonstone.”

I may be wrong. Rhaenyra's charecter arc slightly match with Danny's character arc from GoT. Both Queens inially were not interested in throne but took the responsibility because of birth right and both cared about the people and didn't want to initiate war. But both got pulled into the "Mad Queen" scenario (Go crazy and burn everyone) as they start losing their loved ones. I mean i don't know if that's what going to happen in Rhaenyra's storyline. But it is interesting to notice similarities. Also i think, i am not sure, the dragon Demond visits in the cave is the mother of the three dragon eggs he retrives one of the previous episode. I also think this dragon is going to be bigger than Vhegar. 🔥 I mean it definitely looks bigger. 🔥

He may not have meant to kill him but you shouldn't be bullying someone on top of essentially a nuclear weapon and not expect it to go off.

Hey guys! Great reaction as always! Personally, I would name this episode “you can’t control your dragon”. Aemond couldn’t control Vhagar, Luke couldn’t ’t control Arrax and Rhaenyra couldn’t control Daemon:) You should have seen on twitter how pissed the fandom was by the choking scene :) “Daemon would never do such a thing!” :) I didn’t want to spoil it earlier in the show but today I’d like to callback to the scene in the 4th episode when Rhaenyra is back from the tour on the ship, and Caraxes hits the ship hard. Rhaenyra hits her head. I’m convinced it was a foreshadowing of R&D relationship. ‘If you are with him, it will hurt’. Although there were tons of parallels between them and they are insanely bonded it will be tragic, you’ll see. Nevertheless, I think Daemon did what he was supposed to do preparing to the war (he knew, Rhaenyra married him also for protection). If he had broken down as in the beach scene but much earlier, it would’ve been worse and useless.

Hot take: IMO Rheynera actress nailed her role I love the older mature version of her. I love her stoicism. I think her performance in the episodes that she’s In definitely did better than Dany on screen. That look at the end gave me CHILLS!

“The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion” - Viserys. HoTD trying to tell a nuanced story about dragons and dragonriders. Purists who believe lack of analytical thinking can be compensated by pedantry “HAHA LOLZ IT’S ALL A MISCOMMUNICATION”.The dragons acting on their own is executive producer George’s idea. This is 100% him. More than a few of the GoT channels did a good job breaking down why dragons acting on their own accord is justified and makes the story more intriguing. The channel Hill’s Alive did a video essay documenting various George interviews over a span of almost 20 years to show how this was a long time in the making. I don’t know where the dragon thing is going, but I’m hooked. So seems like the record breaking viewership of the finale. And finally, sorry stans, but F&B Daemon is far more evil than he has been portrayed in the show so far. Just say “Daemon will never do this in the book” and hope the person you’re talking to hasn’t read the book either.

The Dragon that Daemon was singing too its called Vermithor that is also know as "The Bronze Fury", Vermithor is the dragon of Jaehaerys the old king that you guys saw on the first episode and also Vermithor is the second largest dragon alive at the moment, only Vhagar is bigger of the alive dragons well we also have a certain wild dragon that is also possible bigger ;)

@The Media Knights this is what I think is going to happen in season 2 of House of the Dragon Prediction 1: Aemond will go after Corlys Velarion and k!lls him Tyrion style on the toilet with a Crossbow Prediction 2: Jace and Joffrey Velarion challenge Aemond Targaryen to a epic Sword fight on the side of Dragonmount for killing Luke but Aemond gets the upper hand disarms Joffrey and stabs him through the mouth Jace comes running with sword up but Aemond quickly throws sand into Jace’s eyes stunning him before cutting off Jace’s sword hand then slicing open his stomach spilling his intestines. Aemond pushes Jace off the ledge sending him ragdolling down the steep slope before slamming into a big rock the impact badly fractures Jace’s skull k!lling him and of course Aemond has to say a badass cheesey one liner
