7/10 Oddly enough I never thought Daemons visions at Harrenhal would start to feel like it's cutting into time that could be better spent on more characters and settings. Seeing stone hedge and the brackens having principles were the highlights of the episode
The scene immediately cutting to Daemon sitting forlornly on a rock going "i didn't think they would be so eager to die" just cracks me up 😂 Daemon is so unintentionally hilarious

I swear Jace is the blacks saving grave he got an army from the north and Erie and treated with the Freys to open the crossing to allow his army from the north to intercept the greens army in the riverlands and then to top it off he gave his mother the idea about people with distant dragon lord blood that could possibly ride their largest unclaimed dragons under dragon stone.
The scene with Helaena asking "was it worth the cost?" was very reminiscent to me of that heartfelt scene in Infinity War where soulstone-world child Gamora asks Thanos "What did it cost?" 😢
It’s crazy how many people in history suffered before IVs were used like they are today. Jesus. I mean I know it’s just special effects but when you see things like those burns, plus all his broken bones from the fall, it makes the suffering less abstract.

i thought the peeling off of the armor was more like peeling off a dragons scales. Across westeros, the people are seeing the vulnerability of the targaryens, a dragon without its scales.
A thought on the blood on Daemon's hands....we only see the blood from an outside view and the blood is gone from Daemon's view. Like Daemon doesn't see the blood on his hands from his actions.
Daemon doesn’t know what his mother looks like, so I don’t think his subconscious fantasies lean towards his mum, and more just his family in general loving him for his power and strength
In defense of Hugh Hammer, he comes to believe he should be king because of a prophecy of a king with a hammer. I always assumed he was misreading a prophecy that was talking about Robert Baratheon. Prophecy is shifty in these books.

This effectively parallels Daemon with King Harren, connecting them as two cruel tyrants terrorizing and exploiting the Riverlands to achieve their own personal glory.
the comedic gold in this ep is "I did not expect them to be so eager to die" in my opinion lol especially after all that impressive VFX dragon, they cut to Daemon sitting down quietly looking defeated lol

Locking the people in King's landing also prevents them from spreading the news of how bad the situation is. The lords of Westeros don't need to know those details.

I like that they called out the deal that none of them have dealt with a war, but they're acting like they're more suited. Men sitting upon chairs, imagining themselves standing on valorous blood-stained pedestals, as they flip through the cliff notes of past wars thinking, "I could've done that."

Also, there were references that Sunfyre might be dead. This might be a major change from the books. If indeed Sunfyre is dead, it would be interesting to know how the writers will play out the climax of the dance.

The smoke is not coming from Maelese's severed head- in the past, they'd often burn incense around dead bodies to help cover the smell and you can see there are little pots around the edge of the cart.

I like the theme that despite all the posturing about being appointed by the gods and by bloodlines to be the rulers, all these people are being confronted by the reality that the lords and masses submitting to you is what really makes a ruler legitimate.
