@@sanhcman666How is it a dumb move? In what way does it diminish the show? If anything it makes it easier for people to question the legitimacy of Rhaenyra's kids.
I didnt know about this part of the story. Spoilers It now makes more sense why corlys doesn't care about blood. That part of his life is secured. Now it's about history for him. He may not have been the most traditional person and broke taboos, but he had the same wants as other lords. He just didn't care for it happening the "proper" way. I can respect that.
They aged down Corlys by about twenty years, his age never made much sense in the books anyway. In the books he was already like 45 when Laenor was born and then Alyn was born when he was like 60. Alyn being older and more experienced will be good for the story and character I think.
They aged up both Addam and Alyn. Their actors are very similar in age to the actor who played Laenor. The showrunners clearly made that choice on purpose, because they are going with the (correct) theory that Addam and Alyn are Corlys's sons, not Laenor's
@@caesar.emperor I know. He cheated on her with Aegon III's daughter. I think that Aegon III had a pretty good married life (the second marriage). But yes, the other children had a bad luck.
Im so glad to see Alyn and Addam Hull in this series as their own unique characters rather then a disguise for Laenor to return in. They are among my favorite characters in ASOIAF history.
@@tuplat5107 in the book sure. But in the show, they are obviously choosing not to do that. Plus most people assumed he was Corlys’s kid anyways. Do you really think people who lived in Laenor’s hometown didn’t know he was gay?
because the show is going with the theory that they are Corlys's sons not Laenor's. So Im assuming they wanted to cast actors who are around Laenor's actor's age. To avoid any doubts about who their father is
I thought it was rather depressing. Corylis did love Jace and did want him to be treated as his grandson. And here's his blood related son and due to Corylis's own stupid decisions, he can't even acknowledge it
How the show continues to buther their characters. Alyn, the bastard of Corlys and a coming dragon rider, looks just as much as a Valarion as Joffrey did a Baratheon
Velaryon. There's nothing in the source material text that states the Velaryons were white-skinned. Black people can be pale too. Also, there's no indication that any Velaryons are dark-skinned prior to Corlys. It's possible that he gets his dark skin from his maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother. And even without all that, changing the skin colour of a character isn't butchering them. It's content that matters, not colour. Race lifting the Targaryens would have been bad. But only because we've already seen them light-skinned in Game of Thrones.
The source material describes Velaryons as pale skinned and silver hair im afraid. Its a staple feature of Valeryon identity..... HOWEVER, the reason why im ok with this change is because if they all had these features, we wouldn't know who is who. Martin was ok with the change becauze when he first wrote the story, he wanted to make valaryons dark skinned. The directors said thats why they made the change.@rtozier2011
@@wayne47ableThis. George had originally intended to be Valyrians darker skinned. The books are full of darker skinned characters and there was no rule that Varlyians couldn't have darker skin
He is Corlys' bastard son and while his father has been pretending that Harwin's children are his grandsons and making them his heirs on a quest ti gain power and legacy, his actual children have been straight up ignored and forgotten, that is up until now...
