In the A Knight of Seven Kingdoms prequel we're getting soon, we're going to meet another Targaryen Dreamer: only he drinks a lot because the dreams are so vivid they frighten him that much. No one is going to believe a drunk, and maybe that's how he wants it to be.
the life of every person highly gifted in their family with intellect. no one listens, no one cares. what you were trying to explain to them comes to pass no matter what you do. neverending.
@@RamblingsOfaMadCat Pretty sure they're checking on the floor after Helaena said "The Rats", If you look closely, Aegon is also looking around the floor
Ageon and Haelena act more like siblings than husband and wife. Maybe that's why it Aegon being drunk to produce heirs, it was just too wierd doing it with his sister.
Yeah, he doesn't love her romantically. Being forced by his family to do it with her is sa in a way for him too. Maybe that's why he doesn't understand consent? Because his consent doesn't matter and everybody thinks that is normal. I don't like Aegon very much. But I think he is an interesting tragedy. Also just imagining I would need to do it with my brother..... 🤢
@danika9411 Thats an interesting theory. I can imagine Alicent, Visyres or Otto telling him something along the lines of "It'll be a bit of fun, no need to get upset about it" Honestly, I don't really like either side that much, but I have more sympathy for Aegon and his siblings because they are children being used by the adults and going up against the adults.
Since he is a Targaryen i dont think its the sister thing that turns him off but he probably views Helaena as too childlike, unaware of things for him to see her as a woman
I do think besides his Targaryens hair he doesnt have the Targaryen need for inbreeding. Targaryens are reportedly inclined to want to inbreed. Maybe him being half means he got his mothers instincts when it came to it.
He may not be a great husband but he's an okay brother to her 😂 and he has to give the tender parental love to his son that his own parents didn't really give him 😭
@@luzcalderon7808 Clearly he was defending her on a subtle way trying to light up the room cause every maid was looking at Helaena as if she was mad crazy
@@luzcalderon7808After: the maids looked at Helaena uncomfortably, look away with their backs stiff clearly thinking "crazy woman". He's clearly defending her because first Aegon let clear Helaena is the "Queen" and she's mysterious at her own way. Tom Glynn-Carney said on a interview Aegon wishes Helaena well althought there's not love between them
@@ilbb7055Stop using slurs "mad" and "crazy". Also, it's possible that he wanted to ease the tension yet not necessarily "defended" her, more like innocent joke
Dude, I thought that aegon was just going to be another Joffrey, but as soon as I saw how the way Helena was talking back to him and he was patiently saying, where is he? All I could think about was if that was Joffrey, he would be threatening to cut out her tongue or something.
Aegon has very little to do with Joffrey ! His portrayal in the first season made him looks he would be the same type of king but thankfully, it seems they are trying to qualify that now. In the book, he wasn't nearly as bad
I think the Joffrey 2.0 comment came in the first season when people were drawing parallels with GOT, but Aegon II is clearly his own beast, pretty sure that's what the actor said in an interview as well. I don't see much similarity, he is arguably more similar to Robert Baratheon, just drunk, incompetent and doesn't seem too bad.
Aegon seems more like an immature guy not a monster. His reaction to his sons death showed he cared a lot for him, and in episode one he actively spends time with him and clearly loves him. This is not how Aegon was treated by his parents. Even other characters refer to Jaeherys as 'the child', 'the boy' and Rhaenyra calls him an 'it' when argueing with Daemon. Aegon is the only one that calls him his son (Helaena doesnt say it and grandmother and great granddad dont refer to him as their grandson, just the kid). I exclude Helaena from the how she refers to her son as she is autistic. But his reaction is not something Joffrey would do.
@@jamiemohan2049well to be honest, Helaena calls her son "MY boy" this episode while speaking to Alicent about funeral. And speaking about the phrase "They killed the boy" from Helaena at the end of ep1, I always interpreted it as kind of detachment as if she fears that of she says her son's name out loud, if she says "They killed Jaehaerys", this tragedy she just witnessed will truly be real, instead of a simple nightmare she can wake up from she wishes it to be.
Aegon is a coward. Just wait and see how "Afraid" he really is. All of this? It's all an act. I would've wanted Jace or Lucerys to be the rightful King tbh. Aegon got no class. Regardless who wins or dies. Rhaenyra's bloodline were the Targaryens who lived much longer than the Greens.
@@peytonsmith1062 The war was between Rhaenyra and Aegon. Rhaenyra was killed by Aegon's dragon. Aegon literally won fair and square. Stop trying to find hidden victories🤣🤣. It's like you getting your arse beat in a boxing match, but then claiming you won because 10 years later your son is world champion. 😂😂 Also, history remembered Rhaenyra as a usurper and Aegon as the RIGHTFUL KING. Westeroes never got a Queen. So the Greens literally won everything they fought for. 💚💚🐉🐉
Aegon being actually nice to Haelaena is interesting. He’s not Joffrey 2.0 as what people think. He was shown to be stupid, immature and drunk, and clearly unfit to be a King or really, any kind of leadership roles, but he doesn’t seem too bad natured, he also genuinely wanted to help the smallfolk etc.
At least his reason to snap later after losing his son is understandable same as Rhaenyra who's also just losing her son. Also, he got pushed by his mom and his grandpa to sit in the Throne just because he's King Viserys' firstborn son and he's still confused and clueless. Meanwhile, Joffrey is a spoiled brat who thought he can do whatever he wants just because he's the King's son. When he tormented Arya's butcher friend in earlier Season 2, he was doing that for fun with smile for hjs face. Also, his mom, Cersei is a bad mom who can't control him and not as strict as Alicent.
Phia's performance as Queen Heleana is the best I've seen in a long long time. She doesn't have to say much but her facial expression & physicality says it all. Brilliant & genius ❤
0:34 Aegons facial expression in "Where is he" despite being irritated by Helena shows they were sibilings first then couple and he knew Helena will never pay heed to his if he get impulsive 😅. The detailing 💕💕
Am I the only one that thinks that the greens are much more interesting characters than the blacks? Like, don’t get me wrong, they aren’t any morally better, but people who prefer Team Black tend to only like Rhaenyra and Daemon, while they could care less of the Velaryons or the others. Even then, Rhaenyra and Daemon are “easy-to-understand” characters to me, hence I don’t feel allured by them. In season 1, characters like Otto, Alicent and Aemond won me over. Now in season 2, I grow to care for Helaena’s innocence and Aegon, even though I know Aegon is a lazy lout, his redeeming qualities are being playful with his kids and being genuinely willing to aid his people despite understanding what it would cost his house. I don’t know, the complexity of Team Green is a big part that keeps me interested in the show.
Yeah I totally agree. We know next to nothing about many of the Black’s characters. Baela, Rhaena and little Jeoffry might as well be background characters. I mean Jeoffry makes sense but literally the only interesting think we know about Daemon’s daughters is that one longs for a dragon and acceptance from her father. Nothing else. Even Jace. He’s charming and handsome but we literally know nothing about his personality. His characterisation is nothing compared to Aemond, Aegon and Helaena.
The only difference between the greens and the blacks is that Alicents kids are more unhinged than Rhaenyra's, so they get more screen time. Alicents kids are more interesting to watch than Rhaenyra's, but I can't really say the same for the rest of the characters. Otto and Alicent just aren't very important characters anymore, they won't do very much for the rest of the show.
Me too, team green is full of interesting personality than the black for the story plot only. For me, the only interesting character and personality in team black is Daemon
You just can't fight fate, especially for person like Helaena who keeps foreseeing horrible things in her whole life. She knew her son won’t survive anyway. That’s the most heartbreaking part.
Aegon clearly loves his family. He is not some honorable king and he clearly has his flaws but he is not some tyrannical evil bastard. He clearly loves his children and also definitely loves Helaena and Aemond.
@@randycrawford1132I believe Aegon isnt into incest. He resents her cause he has to be married to her, and now it seems he resents her more for their sons death.
despite aegon being a piece of trash (we all know why the maidens reacted the way they did when he entered the room) is kinda cute how he likes to take his son to the council and somewhat seems to enjoy spending time with him
Since Larys said he dismissed the old servants and replaced them with new ones, i'm guessing they were just trying to act normal because they're Larys' spies but it could be that too
@@НикитаСимонян-ж5е Probably because Daemon has a "bad boy" charisma. It's not rational, it's psychological. Having a badass image, even if more of a window dressing than what your real character, can earn you indulgence for a lot of things. (*) Though Aegon, without excusing his screw up nature and sexual predator urges, is still more likeable and braver than Joffrey (whom I can't imagine holding his bravado for more than 15 secondswere he involved in real action, on dragonback or not), Daemon looks more "manly". (*) A personal example : when I was a teenager (not long ago, I'm 24 now), I felt for Vladimir Putin's badass memes because I didn't know much about modern Russia until the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. I had heard about the civilians death toll of airstrikes in Syria, rumors of killing journalists and faking elections, but at most I half-believed it partly because I had a good image of Russia people and culture (I honestly thought it was better now just because the Soviet ideology was gone), partly because I saw Putin as a more charismatic, unbending and stronger-fisted man that our pathetic leaders in the West who cow before terrorism, and partly because at an age where our critical mind develop, we sense how the mainstream media can be untrustworthy on so many issues, so it becomes harder to take their word for it on topics you're less familiar with. Don't hesitate to give me your advice.
Yknow, he's almost like that middleground between Vicerys(The dad) and Robert Baratheon. Loves their kids(numerous bastards), Nicer than they let on but have explosive tempers, knows they arent fit to be king but make the best out it, along moments of unexpected wisdom and/or common sense
Probably has similar combat ability to viserys (not bad but not particularly known for it and overshadowed by the younger brother) and the quick temper of robert
Making Aegon finally step up and finally try adds another layer of tragedy on top of everything else in the Dance. Probably would have been a decent King if he wasn’t being tested constantly the same way his own father and late king wanted to be tested in battle and war. Aegon easily has the most interesting arc and I’m looking forward to seeing Tom play a more tenacious and fearsome side to Aegon as the body count starts to pile up and he has nothing to show for it.
I think It's a really thoughtful extension of his awful behavior before being crowned king. My reading is this: He's always been a profoundly unserious person, while also needing validation from his family (which he never received). The crowds cheering him at the coronation (and all the perks of power) are giving him an outlet that probably makes him happier, but there's no hiding his lack of seriousness. The death of his son is going to change his attitude in an even more severe way.
*Aegon. And it was kind of cute when he leaned down and asked where his son was. He was probably thinking just that, but knows it's pointless to argue since none of them had a say in the matter of succession.
@@alexanderkuechler1782 rhaenyra is the leader She allows daemon to have power even though she knows he is unstable “First rule of leadership. EVERYTHING is your fault”
making him trying to be better and likable - even if not to his family then at least to the smallfolk and also to the audience in general - is such a great narrative move. it makes the whole Blacks vs Greens things all the more nuanced, there is no singular evil in the two factions. and also... SPOILERS FROM BOOKS ...because we know when Rhaenerys _does_ at one point manage to win against the Greens and take back Kings Landing, establishing herself as queen. but by then the smallfolk love Aegon and Heleana, and as...events transpire, Rhaenerys loses Kings Landing not because of the Greens (directly) but because the smallfolk rise up against her and even manage to kill some of the dragons. i can already imagine how, in the show, perhaps Rhaenerys will _try_ to handle things in the way a good monarch ought to, but complications and consequences happen (and having a wild card for a husband probably doesn't help), and her having been away in Dragonstone for the better part of her adult life means the smallfolk don't see her the same way as Aegon putting on a show of a magnanimous king. so this whole...PR spin that the Greens are inadverdently doing even as Otto side-eyes Aegon for his impracticalities just makes me really excited for how the narrative will continue to transpire.
In defense of the dragons, it wasn't entirely the smallfolk who killed them. If the dragons hadn't been chained in an underground pit - literally the opposite of where they should have been - there wouldn't have been a massive stone roof overhead for one of them to crash into and bring the whole thing down to crush them.
@Lionstar16 Since they both have light hair, light skin and bright blue eyes. One would think they were sisters upon seeing them both together. Imagine a fanfiction crossover where the Lovegoods are a lost clan of Valyrians because of not only their light complexions. But also their ability to see things that others can't.
@TesniSouthwell @LysGartis Ohh, it makes sense and quite sad.. Still I like to think she might have something to do with the intro because she likes embroidery, it was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the new intro
Phia said she does see a lot of similarities between Cassandra and Helaena, she said that no matter how much she tries to warn people about the bad things about to happen, no one ever believes her and just take her for a crazy woman
@@luzcalderon7808 Phia also said that she didn't believe Haelean had some sort of prophetic power, more of a heightened intuition. I also bet that she didn't use outdated word "crazy" 🙄
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 Yes, I also saw the interview, I really like her interpretation of Helaena's "powers". She didn't say people see Helaena as a "crazy woman" I was just explaining how people from the show and mythology see Helaena and Cassandra
Poor dear. Like Princess Cassandra, cursed with prophecy, yet never to be listened to, dying a horrible death, all because she tried to save her family.
I wish they would explain her "powers"...does she have clear unclear visions, intrusive thoughts or is she afraid of something that she doesn't understand? She feels disconnected. Hope they explore that in episode 3
Doesn't her whisper sound much more like "the only one looking...." maybe 'mouse' afterwards? No one really knows what she is whispering bc HBO didnt add subtitles for it but I dont think it sounds like "they only want the boy". Any guesses?
The boar drawing goes back to season 1 Rhaenyra saying she doesn’t like to hunt boars, they squeal like children being murdered, or something like that. My interpretation at least
Most characters this season changed overnight or got more intense all of a sudden, Alicent and Aegon specially feel very different from last season, Aemond too
How to make the scene better : Heleana makes the ratcatcher to be fired by some reason of his words In other scene similar to the ending of this video she starts crying Now that fix the ending of the episode where she has no emotion is shock without shock 😂
I don’t think Aegon was a good father to his children (l don’t blame him Because how Viserys and Alicent peer pressured him and I know he is trying his best to make it up to them now when Viserys never treated him with an ounce of affection. Even though he may have left all parenting to Heleana.. I feel bad for her when she falls into grievances and madness)
@@Nicholas_Chen_In the book all king's landing love her, she is kind and has a dragon Dreamfyre. Sad they gonna remove the relationship with her Dragon 😢
And more conventionally attractive. Book Helaena was described as heavy and not being as strikingly beautiful as Targs go. But she was sweet and kind and the smallfolk adored her
