It is definently up there but Episode 2 of this season and episode 8 last season still top it for me.

the whole Harrenhal thing is trying so hard to carry this show but they have already ruined Daemon in my opinion and its difficult to fix him completely. I hate the whole thing of Aemond betraying Aegon and the excecution was very bad. Also show Rhaenyra is the most boring character of all time.

They’ve wasted good actors and a weird fanfic. None of Daemons visions have any significance. Unless the plan is a visit to Christmas past so it will turn him into a good man. Which is kinda pukey. All he sees are what his sins have done to others and people from his past who are no longer there. We could have had nettles. We could have had black aly and bloody ben…but nah. We had Criston Cole nailing Alicent and aemond hanging out in the brothel. Was overall underwhelmed when the dragons “danced” in the episode. It was supposed to be a thing of beauty in an eerie way that stopped the world while lesser men looked on. Instead I can’t tell which is which one is which and it looks violent and short. Not much to behold outside of a brief moment of violence.

Warning blog post/rant incoming reader discretion is advised 😅 Best episode so far in the season really enjoyed how they wrote the Battle of Rook's Rest and all the buildup up to it. The worst parts were the whole Harrenhal plot line, but not because I disliked the setting, no its Daemond that's the problem. Ever since season 1 I have been waiting for the show to to sell me on his character, why I should care/sympathized for a man who's main aspirations are total control and power and would sacrifice thousands for war to do so. Yet I feel no pathos for this character whatsoever and he just comes off as a two-dimensional agent of narcissism, and that is so uninteresting for me, maybe they're saving it for his relationship with Nettles but I have lost patience for him.(1/2)

I also cannot stand the plot point of Aegon's dream of the Song of Ice and Fire being used as the validation of Rhaenyra's claim. It's so unnecessary and only serves to diminish the series, instead of HotD being about two friends being dealt a bad hand and the tragedy of having to kill each other to save their own family, it is now reduced to one of them being completely wrong in her actions while the other is wholeheartedly justified for the Dance. So much for Martin's original intentions of asoiaf not being like most medieval fantasy with black and white main characters, with room to interpret their morally grey decisions, but oh well I guess. Also, every time a character says asoiaf it's so cringe and I feel like I'm peeking behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, just completely ruins the immersion for me. 😔 (2/2)
