It’s a big loss for team black. They lost one of their best dragon riders and the second biggest dragon rider. However. However team green only had 4 dragons and only 3 at Kings Landing. Vhagar, DreamFyre and Sunfyre ( now gravely injured). Tessarion is in Old Town with Daeron. Team black had more dragons yes smaller than Vhagar but only Vhagar. They also have some unclaimed dragon
During the meeting while Alicent was silently seething, they were discussing the fact that the small folk were leaving the city and spreading discontent and fear to other parts of the realm...THAT'S why Aemond ordered the gates closed and no one enters or exits without their leave.
When Helena asks Aemond if it was worth the price…… she’s referring to it all- killing Lucerys, the son for a son, and maiming Aegon II. She is also letting us know that the violence will escalate and both houses will continue to pay high prices.
One thing that I'm loving in the DragonStone scenes it's the fact that you can hear the dragons murmuring in the background!!!! It's a wonderful detail!!!! in the final scene with Rhaenyra talking to Jace, when he mentions Vermithor and Silverwing it's as if the dragons feel something and you can hear their murmurs in the background even more clearly, I get goosebumps because it's so incredible ❤️🔥
Daemon told Davos Blackwood to "show them your worst" and ravage the Bracken smallfolk, but they weren't meant to do it while waving the Targaryen banner as "there are things The Crown must not be seen to do." He wanted the Blackwood's to force the Brackens to submit while maintaining plausible deniability about any Blackwood atrocities, but now the Riverlords see him as a tyrant.
Oh no, I kinda agree. His plan was less than ideal but it was made worse by the guys wearing banners. It's 2/2 this season someone has gone rogue on Daemon's plan and made it worse for him; which is fitting since he has gone rogue himself for them.
Daemon was singing to Vermithor at the end of season 1. Balerion at this point, is long dead. He died before the Great Council where Viserys was chosen as King. He's been dead for over 30 years now, his skull is a shrine in the Red Keep
@@Sircoochie Arya runs into Balerion's skull in S1 in the basement of the Red Keep so that's where he is. As for Balerion, he died of old age, but some suspect his death was premature because he suffered grievous injuries when his last rider before Viserys lost control of him and Balerion took them both to Valyria, where they were attacked by something unknown which caused Balerion to come back to King's Landing heavily injured. He was never the same after, and died shortly after choosing Viserys as his rider.
Aegon saying "mommy" Broke my heart, he always seek her approval and attention and love from the moment she stood between him and a dragon in Season 1 which more than his father ever did, Aegon is so tragic character.
Why would his father do anything for him? He didn't even visit his father once when he was on his deathbed. 😂😂😂 Alicent disregards her son so much, but on the other hand, Rhaenyra raised her sons so well, they are sweethearts. Goes on to show, what a b*tch Alicent is.😂😂😂
@@RhaenyraT2001 lol it goes back befor his father was in his death bed. why would he visit a man called "his father" who neglected him his whole life? it was his mother who stood between him and a dragon NOT HIS FATHER, and you wonder why he wears green? maybe you need to pay attention to the greens characters more before discussing them with anyone.
@@jamien368 bcoz his father was DEAD when his "mother" stood between him and the dragon. Her whole life, she neglected him, put hate in his heart against Rhaenyra, built the idea of usurping and challenging her succession, and then finally conveniently thought Viserys was talking about her grapist son and put him on that throne. And now, even in the very last episode, told him he was useless and that he is good for nothing and just sit there and be a puppet for her to rule. Did not even console him when his child was dead and then instead ran and f*cked Cole that same night. Bro, f*ck off and find someone else. I have many more things to say.
@@RhaenyraT2001not really. Most characters on the Greens are more on the complex side. If Alicent was a bitch she’d be a lot like Shirene’s mother, or even Katelyn towards Jon Snow. Alicent cares, but doesn’t know how to show it because of how she was raised by Otto. They had that scene a few episodes ago when Aegon was crying about his dead baby. And remember the scene when Viserys got rid of Otto after realizing he was being used to marry Alicent and father her sons? That’s probably why he paid little mind to her children. That’s why Aegon turned out this way. He just wants to be useful, and Alicent telling him to do nothing as king last episode is what hurt him the most.
The choice of actors is basically flawless. "Shall I fight for my birthright, or shall I wait here until we are all destroyed?" The cadence in her voice, the way she said that. For a moment I saw the shadow of Viserys in Rhaenyra. Impressive.
Just a clarification, the dragon Daemon was singing to in S1, was Vermithor, as a process of "planting a seed" to get Vermithor to potentially open up to the idea of having a rider. Nothing tangible came of it yet, but that was his intention.
Jace is making wayy more moves and running Diplomatic circles around dumbfounded Daemon. Jace got the Starks, the Vale/Arryns and the Frey's on their side and returned to Dragonstone with good news while Daemon is still wasting time at Harrenhal and the quarrels between the Blackwoods and Brackens.
Honestly, he reminded me more of Viserys I on that bed, with Alicent by his side. Half of his face decayed, the white cloth wrapped around his head, his troubled breathing... it was very much like Viserys' last days.
I love how Cole is too stupid to understand that parading a dead dragon on the streets shows their own weakness too, not just their enemies. If one sides’ dragons are not invincible, it obviously goes for the other side as well. Which is what the common people figured out almost immediately, because unlike Cole, they have common sense.
@@Durran196 I’m sorry if you need everything spelled out for you to figure it out. His men are ordered by “someone” to cut off the dragon’s head and parade it through the streets. Aemond is not in the position to give orders to those men, or pretty much anyone, he’s just their nuke with his dragon.
@@NikkiStevenReact Yes, it was him. He seemed uncomfortable because even he managed to understand that people are not very happy about the news that dragons, the beasts that are supposed to win them any war, are not unkillable.
I would have thought some small folk would be happy with meleys' death since she killed so many people at the pit. Otto was so outraged with Aegon losing the support of smallfolk with killing a dozen ratcatchers but the blacks don't really have that
@@sarwatarannya8786 My guess is that there are mixed feelings about it. Some people are probably happy that the other team lost a dragon and especially the one who did that, but its most likely overshadowed by the fact that they realize that their ultimate weapons can end up like this anytime as well.
You can see that Cole expected ppl to cheer when he paraded Meleys' head but instead there were murmurs of displeasure. No Targaryen can disrespect a dragon like that. It's obviously Cole's stupid plan to show strength but instead he has mortolized the dragons in the eyes of the small folk. Now the fear aspect they had of dragons is slowly deteriorating. "I thought the dragons were gods" "It's just meat" Those two statements show the shift in mindset
@@khotunkhan3950 How are they reaching when it's literally the angle the show is going lmao? The Dragons were revered as gods so parading a dead one around the streets is going to shift how the common people view them, likely it will be one the things that leads to the storming of the dragonpit, the common people do not fear them as they did before
@@simplyawful543 him saying Cole wanted people to cheer is absolute bollocks and is coming from that stupid hate train for him because no where was it shown he wanted people to cheer , the whole parade through Kings landing with him , you could see he was still thinking about Rooks rest , the guy looked traumatized and was literally sullen the whole episode And it was probably Aemonds idea to do that and he relayed it to Cole who then gave the command. Cole wouldn't even know where Meleys fell The hate train for Cole is becoming annoying when people pull imaginative bad concepts on him just because they want to still be on the hate train I will never look at this show with bias lenses because the show was meant for people to understand both sides are both right and wrong but these directors have pitted a majority of the fandom against the Greens because they can't direct a neutral perspective for this show and have being biased towards the blacks
While it hasn’t been confirmed, most people think the large dragon scull at Dragonstone is Meraxas. Meraxas was one of the original three Targaryen dragons, along with Balerion and Vhagar. Meraxas was felled in Dorne by a scorpion bolt during the time of Aegon the Conqueror. And the scull of Balerion is the one in the Red Keep in King’s Landing.
I'm beginning to really love Jace and Baela. This was a slower episode but it certainly moved several stories forward. I'm loving the team up of Rhaenya and Mysaria. She's extremely clever and she recognizes loyalty in Rhaenyra. I'm so excited for next week!
What Rhaenyra and Jacaerys talked about in the last scene are called dragon seeds (Targaryen bastards live among the commoners), it's dangerous idea, They don't know them and they're about to hand one of them the second largest dragon alive.
at 35:50 The end of this Episode where they talk of others with the called "Dragon Seed"... may I point at 10:22 and 26:20 who is this low-born with a big strong look, with long white hair, and way is he getting screen time?
Only three dragons have died since the time of Aegons conquest and the start of this show: Balerion - died of old age Meraxes - killed in Dorne during conquest Quicksilver - Killed by Balerion and his rider Maegor the Cruel The skull is most likely Meraxes
Daemon is basically getting years worth of intensive therapy courtesy of The Old Gods. Imagine a therapist that has unfiltered access to your conscious and unconscious mind!!
While daemon with his mom is weird you should know that she died when he was like 3 so he wouldnt recognize her. Even for targaryens a mother and son or father daughter has never happened. So he definitely didnt know it was his mom until she called him son.
Aegon IV possibly fucked his bastard daughter and her mother in a threesome 😭 possibly didn't know she was his daughter but if we're being real he definitely knew
This was the second time we heard a Targaryen Prince whisper longingly for the comfort of his “mummy”. While Rhaenyra answered her child’s plea for maternal reassurance, once again, Aegon was denied. I know that Aegon and his brother are lousy pricks but they got royally shafted in the parental department.
They really did. This is why I find the differences between the "Targtowers" and the Strong boys so interesting. It's like opposite sides of the coin, Aegon and Jace specifically. Both are the firstborn son and are expected by their family to rule at some point. Aegon is a trueborn prince and Jace is a bastard, and yet the former has a shitty life and Jace has everything he could want. Aegon has Alicent and Viserys, Jace has Rhaenyra and Laenor and Harwin (and maybe even a bit of Daemon). Whose life would you rather have? Would you rather know that you are a trueborn prince who "deserves the throne", but have felt no love or acceptance in your life? Or would you rather carry the burden of being a bastard but be supported and loved by your family?
@@korki3581 me too.. aegon seems to want his mothers assurance on the last episode before he flew to rooks rest too. I wonder what rhaenyra would have said to him if she was his mother.
From a book readers perspective it's a slow episode. They stretched about one or two pages into 60 minutes. But the acting is so damn good and production is amazing. So I'm not complainin because sometimes the book actually moves too fast.
I’m more surprised people didn’t expect it I knew it was going to be a slow episode and I knew it wasn’t going to be as good as episode 2 to me it was a filler feeling like episode lol
Well, there was that fella in Kings Landing telling people he was a descendant of the Targaryans, and I dont think they would have had the scene if it wasnt intended to be an easter egg for this whole Seed situation.
I really like that you guys understood the alicent-cole scene. Alicent somehow expects to be named regent when she's done pretty much nothing for the council in terms of action. Her power always came from the men around her, her husband, her father and now her sons. And now, even the dude that was basically her lapdog has become way more powerful than her, thats why she's so surprised by how Cole called her by her name. Everyone thinks thats supposed to be an epic own on Cole. But thats just alicent trying to feel in control.
I don’t know why people don’t realize that Alicent fears Aemond. And I think she expected that Cole would tell her what really happend. But now she realizes that people are really on her side when it’s convenient for them.
Sounds like you didn't understand the scene. It was to show the hypocrisy of Alicent and the sexism of the Greens. Its also to show that Alicent fears Aemond because she knows better than anyone how much of a loose cannon he is and that he will be even worse in power
I'm sure other people have done this already, but here goes. - Dragon riders can only bond with one dragon at a time, and dragons can only bond with one rider at time. (Based on the information we have at the moment at least.) - Balerion (the Black Dread) was the largest dragon ever known in Westeros, larger than Vhagar currently is. He was Aegon the Conqueror's dragon. At the time of the show, he has been dead for 30-40 years. Viserys was Balerion's final rider, but he died when Viserys was a young man. Balerion's skull is currently in the Red Keep, it is the one seen surround by candles in the first episode of the first season, when Viserys is telling Rhaenyra about the Song of Ice & Fire. - The skull seen behind Rhaenyra in this episode, & a couple of other this season, is of Meraxes. She was the dragon of Queen Rheanys, Aegon the Conqueror's wife and younger sister. Both Meraxes and Rheanys were killed in Dorn during Aegon's conquest. - There are currently 5 wild &/or riderless dragons living on Dragonstone. Vermithor and Silverwing used to have riders, while Grey Ghost, The Cannibal, and Sheepstealer have never been ridden. - Vermithor (the Bronze Fury) was the dragon of King Jaehaerys I, the old king who is seen right at the start of the first episode of season one, and the grandfather of Viserys, Daemon, & Rheanys. Vermithor has been riderless since King Jaehaerys died, which is around 20 years at this point. He is the dragon that Daemon sings to at the end of season one. He should be very large, bigger than Ceraxes and Meleys, not as big as Vhagar but more than big enough to pose a real threat. - Silverwing was the dragon of Good Queen Alysanne, the wife and younger sister of King Jaehaerys. She has also been riderless for approximately 20 years at this point in the show. She should also be bigger than Ceraxes and Meleys, though smaller than Vermithor. - Grey Ghost, The Cannibal, and Sheepstealer all live wild out on the island of Dragonstone rather than under the castle like the previous two. They are rarely seen as they avoid human contact as much a possible. It is unknown how old Grey Ghost and Sheepstealer are, so it's difficult to say how large they should be, but they will be no smaller than Syrax. - The Cannibal is the one dragon alive one could possibly rival Vhagar in size. He is rumoured to have lived on Dragonstone since before the Targaryens arrived, making him possibly over 200 years old at this point. As a result he could well be even bigger than Vhagar, as she was hatched on Dragonstone shortly after the Targaryens re-located. He is named the Cannibal as he is the one dragon that will hunt, kill, and eat other dragons. I know that's a lot of information. Hopefully I got it all right & that it helps clear some things up.
Why is Vhagar said to be the biggest if the Cannibal might be bigger? Or why haven’t we heard anything of him at all when talking about dragons that could rival Vhagar
@sirfrancisgaming9438 To my mind, there are a handful of possible reasons why the Cannibal hasn't been mentioned on the show so far. - There is no specific information on exactly how big the Cannibal is. The books only talk about rumours that he was on the isle of Dragonstone before the Targaryens arrived, meaning he would, if that is true, be older than Vhagar. As dragons continue to grow as they age, that would mean that he is bigger than Vhagar. However, if he is younger than her then he would easily be smaller than her, and, in my head-cannon at least, he is smaller than her as that just seems to fit better. - He, like the other wild dragons, is very reculsive and is rarely seen even by the people who live on Dragonstone. The books imply that, even before the war, the "green" side of House Targaryen spent most of their time in King's Landing, while the "black" side remained largely on Dragonstone. As a result, there's a possibility that Team Green don't know he exists. Team Black may just discount him as unlikely to accpet a rider as he's very old and has never had one before. - Jace didn't mention any wild dragons in this episode, and Daemon only briefly mentioned "three wild dragons" in the final episode of season one. It could be that the show writers are choosing not to include the wild dragons in the show, possibly to streamline the number of dragons involved. If they just go with Seasmoke, Vermithor & Silverwing getting new riders then it won't really change much of what follows in the book. **Very minor spoiler alert** In the book, the Cannibal doesn't get a rider, as he kills everyone who tries to bond with/claim him, and plays no part in the war. Any of those could be reasons why we've not heard of the Cannibal as yet in the show, and there my be others. Ultimately, I can only speculate based on the information the books give and what the shows have chosen to do with it so far.
@@GentleBen_86 I really hope The cannibal gets involved in the show somehow, even if he doesn't get a rider i would love to see him, i bet he looks amazing
the price Aemon paid for the throne, killing luke accidently plus his dragon, unleashing the targaryen civil war, the death of nephewJaehaerys , burning aegon (kinslaying) and killing Meleys + Rhaenys. Chaos is a ladder. He creates chaos to turn people against people and takes advantage of their differences to reach his desired destination
During the small council after aemond took over they reported that people was fleeing the city because they feared what rhynera would do after killing rheanys also the people seen parading the dragon head around was a bad omen. So aemond told them to lock the gates and no one is allowed to come or go
I don't think Cole is all messed up by what he saw on the ground, but by what he saw in the air and what he saw Aemond do to Aegon. He is also holding that info back. That is why he's acking the way that he is, and he knows that is what Alicent is trying to get him to say. Just what I think.

Daemon was singing to vermithor in season 1. Vermithor belonged to jaherys and silverwing belonged to his wife. Silverwing is probably either a little bigger than meley if not the same size. There is 6 riderless dragons at dragonstone. Vermithor silverwing and seasmoke amd then the 3 wild dragons sheepstealer grey ghost and the cannibal.
Daemon was actually singing to Vermithor whose the second largest dragon currently. Balerion the Black Dread is the legendary mount of Aegon the Conqueror who was the biggest dragon ever recorded. He's been dead for decades and his skull is the one we see in the Red Keep
the moment where Aegon said Mommy was really heartbreaking, you can say what you want about Cersei but she loved her children to death her look when Myrcella arrived dead in King's Landing at the harbor (where she said to Jamie she was so good, so innocent, she wasn't like me, she was pure love) or to Tommen when he was being manipulated by the High Sparrow she said, I always will Stand by you no matter what, I will burn down cities for you if someone does something to you, and even Joffry loved her, even if he was what he was, she still loved him She wore his ring on her index finger until the end, Alicent really screwed up with hers and she is becoming more and more aware of that.
That doesn't matter, but when he cried for his son, she looked at him and simply walked out instead of comforting him, that's not how a loving mother behaves .
I mean in fairness, Alicent became a mother as a teenager who was the child of Otto, I wouldn't expect her to be that emotionally prepared to raise 4 kids well
I agree but I believe Alicent didn’t even want kids and really doesn’t have any emotional bond to any of the 4, Rhanerya wanted kids and loves her kids more than anything.. I believe Alicent loves her kids but she doesn’t have the emotional capabilities cause she was young teen when she was forced to marry and produce children
I just want to express how much I enjoy your channel and every thing you give back to your members in the form of top quality reactions and great personalities. You have awesome chemistry and are very engaging to watch. Thank you so much!
You guys are getting a few dragon names mixed up. Balerion was aegon the conquerors dragon and is dead. Vhagar is the largest alive right now. The skull was meraxes, one of aegons sisters dragons. Vermithor is the one daemon was singing to, and is currently the second largest dragon (i believe, as the wild dragons sizes are a little shaky in my memory)
One king wanted to help the people, one was too focused on winning the war, and a queen was focused on the future of a dream. The Targaryen siblings United as one would have prevailed and raised the Targaryen house to its greatest
It was Vermithor that Daemon was singing to, and Vermithor is the second biggest dragon. Dragons born in the dragon pit at kings landing tend to be more docile and smaller compared to others. They are still very, very dangerous, but Vermithor is a dragon who is huge and vicious. He is a monster. Great reaction you two! Glad to be coming along for the ride
People have really got too used to the action packed final episodes of GoT and completely forgot some of the better episodes didnt have much action at all
They seem to be showing that guy who had the sick child alot and daemons other child who was sent off... just a wild guess.. I don't even kno them two names
Aegon never wanted to be king. He said so his whole life. See, Otto and Allicent wanted him for a puppet. Allicent beat him and called him names. They never counted on Christon Cole and Aemond. They didn't think he would fire Otto, etc. Allicent's kids are her creations.
@37:07: a dragon rider cannot ride another dragon. It is one bond at a time, usually until either the rider or his/her dragon dies. Daemon was just singing a lullaby to Vermithor, who was old king Jahaerys’ dragon and who was seemingly familiar with said lullaby (you can find the lyrics online). Daemon was seeking to reacquaint him with humans, I guess. Or maybe trying an old Valyrian spell he found in Pentos to enroll him for the Blacks (like Viserys, Daemon is obsessed with Targaryen history). Balerion died of old age when Viserys, his last rider, was young, about 10 years before his reign began.
@@BobbyFlay14 All three dragons consider her as a mother and have a connection with her, but she is only bonded to Drogon as a rider. I think she would not be interested in riding the other 2 as the bond works both ways and she feels uniquely attached to Drogon as a rider.
@@BobbyFlay14 probably not, she can only ride one, That's why Jon was able to claim Rhaegal. I don't think they would KILL her if she tried, since they know her and listen to her to an extent, but she can't ride them, she only had dragon rider bond with Drogon.
The scene with Rhanerya breaking the 4th wall was so cool and chilling. When she looked straight at the camera and said, "It's a mad thought". I felt like she was talking straight to me❤
“I am blood & fire, Driftmark must pass through salt and sea” this is a great line, the authors subtle way of showing us why he wrote (killed off) Rhaenyra’s bastard sons out of the line of succession for Driftmark.. It must pass to true Velaryons (Alyn, Addam).
…who will only be Velaryons if Corlys officially recognizes them as his sons. Rhaenys essentially gave him permission (almost commanded him) to do so at least for Alyn. And what do you mean about Rhaenyra’s sons? Corlys insisted that Luke would inherit Driftmark because he bore the Velaryon name regardless of his parentage. Baela, on the other hand, is Daemon’s daughter, and thereby a Targaryen, not a Velaryon. She is preserving Corlys’ family name as the rulers of Driftmark in this instance.
@@markhamstra1083 the author is using destiny or fate to essentially make sure Driftmark is inherited by true Velaryons, not just by boys who simply bare the name.
@@cereal_killer8773 Whatever. in regards to dragons currently alive, vhagar is the largest at 180 years at this point of the story, the second largest is a male being vermithor at 99 years old, his last rider was King Jaehaerys the 1st which ruled over 60 years of peace. He was the king at the intro season 1 episode 1. The dragon that Daemon was singing to last season was in deed Vermithor & not Balerion the black dread who is long dead at this point
Actually, Vhaegar might’ve been beat, if you notice, the fight between Meleyes and Vhaegar was fairly even. If Sunfyre hadn’t been there, they both would’ve probably died. The show didn’t do Meleyes justice. She was a famous and very well known war dragon.

"Was is worth the price?" has a double meaning indeed. It is a reference to Aemond loosing his eye for a dragon as a child. He said it himself, it was a fair deal. It was worth it. But to sit on the iron throne, was it worth to almost kill his brother ? Helaena Targaryen is special but she is no fool. She knows what Aemonf is capable of. She knows who he is, what he wants. It's even possible she actually knows more, I mean, the future, in a sens. Never forget. Aemond is already called "Kinslayer" ans not just "Aemond one eye" because he killed his half brother Luke. Now Aegon, his brother, the king ? As Rhaenys Targaryen put it two episodes ago : "there's no war so hateful to the gods than a war between kin and no war so bloody as a war between dragons".
That was maraxes skull in dragonstone. The dragon of aegons sister wife rhaenys shot down by the dornish. It was shot in the eye and you can see the broken section of the eye. Balerions skull is in kings landing.
Just to make it simple, Balerion was the largest dragon (long dead). Vhagar is the largest LIVING dragon, then Verimothor is the second largest living dragon. There are lots of other dragons in between that many people have talked about in the comments. But these are the most relevant for right now.

Alicent would be a terrible choice for regent right now, all she would do is write letters to Rhaenyra begging for peace and bringing up their friendship from 20 years ago
@@caibra88 Wow. I just realized Rhaena and Baela are half sisters to Rhaenyra's 2 youngest sons through Daemon. Smh. I need to pay more attention. I guess that's why Rhaenyra sent Rhaena off with her little brothers to the Vale.
The reason the Brackens and other Riverland lords refused to follow Daemon is because he ordered the Blackwoods to basically do whatever they want (grape, pillage, murder) which they did, and yet again like in ep 1 Daemon doesn't think about the consequences.
He also told the Blackwoods "there are things The Crown can not be seen to do" and yet they carried the Targaryen banner while they slaughtered Bracken innocents.
Well, he first told Willem Blackwood to wage a covert war of terror against the Brackens, which Blackwood did by stealing women and children. But even after the Brackens submitted to these kidnapping and terror tactics, the Blackwoods committed further acts of vengeance and grievance against the Brackens. The Blackwoods did this while carrying the Targaryen banner, but it didn’t seem to me that Daemon had ordered or allowed these further acts after the Brackens had bent the knee. Regardless of how surprised Daemon was by the Blackwoods’ further actions, the Brackens have a legitimate grievance that their new liege lord is at least failing to protect them, and maybe he is acting as an overt tyrant against his new vassal.
In the books, Sunfyre didn’t die but was crippled like Aegon I don’t know if the episode is just letting us think he died or the characters are convinced he died at that point but it will be interesting to see how they will adapt that change
