What a classic song, I'll definitely learn this one after I've gotten your tutorial on Mr. Sandman down! (I'm struggling with the finger stretches in the intro :P )
Hi Chris, another great video. I just wanted to give a video idea for something that I'd love to see. I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on guitar setup for fingerstyle. I moved to a lighter gauge string recently and noticed the playability of my guitar dramatically increased. My thoughts are that perhaps the setup for fingersyle should be a bit different to someone who is always strumming chords. Having an easy to play setup on the guitar seems to make a big difference for me, for example I tend to play fingerstyle songs more smoothly on my electric which is setup with a light gauge and low action but obviously the essence of fingerstyle is missing on the electric guitar! Would be interested to hear how you usually setup your guitars, do you go for a lighter gauge of strings with the action as low as possible or do you just keep it all fairly standard?
Cheers Anthony and thanks for the suggestion. My thoughts on set up are that it's really personal to the individual and therefore worth trying out different ones to find out what works best for you. I tend to find a lower action a lot more comfortable than a higher one and I like medium gauge strings and a slim neck but that's just me. As I say you have to try different things to discover what you like best. Cheers
Ooh, and Jerry Reed's weird jazz-y kinda version! Love that part with the "Watched her go, held by her brother" little waltz sorta part he added, such a jam.
