This is exactly my father's voice when he sang. We did a lot of karaoke. He died about 4 years ago. Hearing the vocals start opened me up man. God damn. Miss you old man.
On my wife's family her great-grandfather love Johnny Cash and when I found this video and I played it for her great grandmother. She was moved to tears and she was talking all about how he loved this music and it was an incredible moment of clarity because unfortunately, she has a really bad case of Alzheimer's but this music helped her into a state of clarity so thank you from the bottom of our family's heart. Thank you
There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun It's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new blue jeans My father was a gamblin' man Way down in New Orleans Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and trunk And the only time he feels satisfied Is when he's on a drunk Oh, mothers, tell your children Not to do what I have done Spend your lives in sin and misery In the house of the Rising Sun I've got one foot on the platform And the other foot on the train I'm goin' right back, on down to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one My God, I know I'm one
My father is 85. This is one of his favorite songs, and has been for decades; I sent this link to him a couple days ago, and recommended that he listen to this with headphones on; WOW, HE CANNOT STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW AMAZING THIS IS!!!! 😊 HE like this version better than the original!!!
Man I L O V E when that happens in my life! Nothing like the smile of a loved one when they realize you really were listening and really do love them…a rare moment of bliss (ty God for those little moments where you’re hand is visible🤯🤓)
I'm less than half his age, but not by that much... One of my favorites too... My mother's side gig is being a tailor for extra cash... My dad these days, we can hold a conversation. But it wasn't always that way... Blessings 🙏
What Cash brings to these songs, like hurt, is a lifetime of blood and wretchedness that rubbed his life raw! THAT is the real blues, regardless of color.
Please don’t change a thing! You are reaching the souls of so many. Hang on to your humility young man! People are loving you cuz they can relate! God bless you!
Found this on 12/9/2022. As a big Johnny Cash fan I can't approve of this any harder. Thank you. Johnny Cash lives on. You tell me this isn't really Johnny cash singing, but my ears say you're full of it.
Johnny Cash is simple the most important part of hall of Fame . You Tube simply staffed, has been professional intragatrred in there songs and videos, That folks around the world love to listen to, Very much appreciated 👍
Johnny Cash is the only man that can put the fear of God into a person through song. Edit: I know it isn't the real johnny cash. It doesn't change my point.
Who was this not being Johnny Cash?!?! Some frensh woman song a sing sang on jhonny juma was a rebel he rod on his own Johnny juma was a rebel he rode thru the west ,he fought for his land his rebel land and took'em down by his rebel flag.....well folklorish maybe huh!!!
This song reminds me of my father. A simple and rude man but sensitive to this music. He never studied English and sometimes in his old age he listens to this song repeatedly. 😢
I was wondering why Johnny never had released this on any of his albums, then I read it wasn't him so that explains it all. This version is great and had me thinking it was really Johnny singing it so hats off to Ratcliff and I'd love to here more of the same!!!
By far an excellent cover. I remember listening to Johnny Cash growing up as a kid. This is just powerful. Keep up the good work. I want to hear more from "Johnny", now that I heard that you are out there. Rock On!!!!
I listened to this the other night and thought it was Johnny Cash. I’m just now realizing it isn’t 😳 wow. What talent. And definitely a ghost. Gave me chills.
That voice his voice is still alive I love Johnny cash and it's amazing to hear him sing this song with such a powerful and deep voice the way only Johnny cash can do
OMG! I am so glad youtube gives us that list, to the right, with all this stuff I would NEVER find without it~ This is the first song I learned to play on the guitar by myself... I won't say how old I am, but it was still a hit on the radio...THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE VERSION of a CLASSIC 60'S TUNE!! Thank You!!
It's the song that all of us made learn the guitar back then and it was the first song we played. Nearly 68 by now. This version will go straight into my 'house of the rising sun' playlist.
I closed my eyes and still I cried at this deeply haunting voice but it was just blissful to hear those tones again God is a lucky S.O.B to hear him singing daily!!

My Dad is 68 and he said that this isn’t Johnny Cash’s voice, but a very, very, very, very good imitation of his voice, and He loves it, Johnny Cash lives on.
Stupid Shits… either way it’s Johnnys song. Plain and simple why do you always have to throw shit on everything beautiful. Now it’s your job to comb through RU-vid and find every impersonating piece and do the same . Don’t forget to ask your dad. Hence in the title “ghost” of cash
If I didn’t know beforehand you were an impersonator of Johnny Cash, I could’ve swarm this was a genuine cover from him. Absolutely fantastic stuff Daniel, you’ve just earned yourself a new fan.
Ol Johnny is singing through you from beyond the grave, on behalf of the living I thank you sir, and I'm sure Johnny appreciates 100x more, cash forever may his legacy live on eternally! 🤘🖤
