Johnny hammered and worked the words until they were stretched and found a new deeper, darker, profound meaning. Louder, slower, clearer. Johnny released each word like a butterfly leaving its chrysalis for the first time. He just sweetly embellishes or emphasizes each word. What a great performance and version.

Been listening to Johnny Cash since the late '50s, first time I've heard him sing this, Wow, could understand every word...

That's was the way I felt before I got sober. It was hell and full of darkness. I'm sure glad Johnny Cash got sober and found reconciliation and a relationship with God and Jesus before he died. I'm grateful that many others found God and now have a relationship with God. No human power can relieve me.
