The story about the picture is heartbreaking and so wonderful at the same time it left me in tears, the apartment looks amazing and fun!love the Dog so cute!
Katelyn gives a perfect example on how to make a plain apartment space look special. I love the variety of artwork and how she put her rooms together, including the story of her late brother's inspirational art. I like her stories about where and how she and her husband acquired their furnishings. Lou is a perfect NYC dog, so adorable. Thank you, once again, Homeworthy.
Hi katelye you have a truly beautiful house love your great idears soenjoyed this vedeo thank you for the wonderful view truly en joyed it much love from across the pond❤❤😂😊
Yes, as others have said, the story of your little brother and his art just totally touched me. I lost my wife in 2007 and there are things from our life together that will always be displayed prominently in my living space no matter where I am living. Love Raleigh North Carolina, I lived in the area for about 8 years and used to set up at the Fairgrounds and sell antiques and vintage and now I am living just north of Dallas. Great apartment! ❤
I'm sorry for the loss of your brother. How wonderful to keep a beautiful piece of his art in memory of him. So many wonderful design choices and I love the whimsy and pops of color throughout. Truly love it all, but I think the kitchen styling is my favorite.
This is one of my favorite tours I’ve seen! I love color and whimsical decor but I often see people go way over the top with that style and it becomes overwhelming and too childlike. This home had the perfect mix of it, looks like a nice cozy home where some fun adults live!
The artwork by her brother is beautiful. So balanced and with such fluid color. Wonderful that thousands of people are able to see it through this video. / Also, I love thé story of moving to NY is so exciting and romantic.
Happiness is what I felt as I watched her tour! She decorated it well! Her brother's art work, will live forever, and it is beautiful! He'll always be with her! I love her bright apartment because it is home. 🙌❤️🙌
I love the decor. The colors are charming and they just flow. The art is wonderful and the painting by her brother is beautiful. It is nice that he left her this fine gift which she rightfully cherishes. The doggie is a darling. And the vest she is wearing is stylish. I feel that watching this video was time well spent.
Imaginative and creative living space! The collage art in the entryway is wonderful daily remembrance and tribute to Katelyn's brother...what a loving gesture! Thanks for a great NYC video segment!
What a beautiful apartment filled with color and light. Your brother's art is just amazing and I'm so glad that it greets you when you come in the door. Thank you so much for sharing.
This space is really an extension of your vibrant, cheerful personality. Love the color of the dining chairs matching the drapes! What a subtle cohesive impact. And of course the fireplace makes the room. Love the tiled back and colorful stacked books. And the little kitchen window and ledge....... ahhhhhhhh. This is a sanctuary, and I can totally feel the safe and homey vibe you get when you walk through the door. Just spectacular! I also love that your sweater matches the decor! haha
I can't even believe how beautiful and breathtaking this place is...not only is it colorful but, it's very homey and relaxing. Cozy too!!.. I would describe this as eclectic with real class
I enjoyed your tour and is such a happy place. You are doing what you like in the space and your husband is supportive of whatever you do with the girlie design. My husband passed about a year and 1/2 ago (married 33 years) and looking back i realize now even more today what a lucky person I was to be with him. He was involved in every part of bringing up kids even ironing sheets, pillow cases and dish towels almost every weekend not kidding! He was very opinionated about how things should look but for some reason he watched me design and decorate our homes over the years and never was negative about anything I did decorating-wise and I made mistakes trust me. He just was always so positive and encouraging to me. I appreciate it so much now and realize it was a gift from him plus he liked what I did. I am seeing that with you and your husband. He is open to whatever you are doing which is so encouraging and rewarding. I still love decorating but just now wanting to get back into it again.
Beautiful apartment.. well decorated and planned out ! The mention of your brother’s art work at the entrance shows how you value him and love him.. great nyc apartment thanks for sharing
This is one the best house tours from this channel. Loved the story about her brothers art! Loved the renter-friendly details she added to the apartment! Loved the use of color with the white backdrop! My home is similar, and I’ve been considering toning it down or trying to figure out a way to bring more of a sense of calmness to the energetic colors. I think she did a great job with the balance of energy. And FINALLY, don’t be ashamed of your window AC. New Yorkers all have one lol It’s part of aesthetic 🍎
Love the colors in this apartment. Either there is a lot of foreshortening or else the entry sconce is in danger from the door. The brother had a good eye for balance.
Love everything about this apartment! That gallery wall with the TV looks great in coordinating frames! The pill coasters are fantastic! It’s a great layout and the furnishings are perfect for the apartment!
I love all the original DIY creations, the fireplace is amazing! Katelyn, your brother was obviously so special and a very talented artist, I'm so sorry for your loss of him. It's so wonderful that you have honored him and keep his memory alive with his beautiful work of art welcoming people into your home. ♥
What a wonderful picture. 🙏🏼Her brother was very talented and well loved. I know that makes her smile. Every time she looks at it. I enjoyed this video very much and seeing all her creative visions i too am a North Carolina girl. Yes, Raleigh is not boring. 👍🏼🌸💕yes, her apartment makes me SMILE! 🌸
That kitchen, your brother's entrance, the Frenchie smile, the whole smile in the face of the place. Worth the watch and can learn fir my own space. Thank you. Will see the Amazon room some other time. We all have that part.
I love it! I think this works so well because of all of the white. It's very nicely balanced. The colors all have a moment to pop against the white and it doesn't seem like anything is competing. There are clear focal points. Great composition!!
This is one of the best videos I've seen on RU-vid! I love how bright and friendly your place is. You have a wonderful way sharing your apartment story. I'm very sorry about the loss of your brother. It's so nice that you have a piece of his art as a memory of the good times. On a different note, as someone from Charlotte, I'm a tad bit offended, that you don't want us visiting/moving to Raleigh. 🤣🤣🤣
Two thumbs up from this native North Carolinian! Lived in Raleigh for years, now Chapel Hill, and from the coast. I see that ECU shirt! Love that sweet reminder of your brother in your apartment, Katelyn. Enjoy the city!
Lots of good ideas here & i love the colourful touches that really add a happy glam vibe. As she was searching to find a phrase for her design style id suggest “young happy chic”
Someone should make a Home worthy - poor version of creative people's homes who only make like under 50,000 a year - people who do diys and shop at goodwill and secondhand and Facebook marketplace and make it work using their knowledge of art, fashion, textiles, etc. I live in a shitty apartment complex and I make it work! That would be interesting too!
OMGoodness, Emily, where ya been, girl?😁 🤷 They're ALLLL over RU-vid.... Seriously! Just do a search of what you'd like to see! You can find ALL of what you've mention and SOOOOO much more , I promise you!🤷
It's absolutely devastating about her 14-year-old brother. He was so cute and talented. I love his art. What a tragic loss as he had a bright future in the arts ahead of him. I know what it's like to lose family members too young and it forever impacts your life. My heart goes out to Katelyn and her family. Now for the decor: I love it. It's colorful, whimsical and fun and eclectic, and as an artist it's how I decorate. I prefer white walls and cabinets too which is perfect for this kind of style. White walls are like a blank canvas and the decor makes it come alive like a painting. I thought the throw pillows were interesting. I loved the over-sized perfume bottle. I loved everything down to the candles. I thought the contact paper idea was amazing! I'm surprised the landlord wouldn't have allowed Katelyn to paint them as dark cabinets seem a bit dated. I loved the entire place, the art above the sofa, and Lou the dog is adorable too:-)
Such a Happy Feeling in Katelyn’s Apartment, Bravo! Only buy the items that provide you Joy, the true secret of creating your Happy Place. ❤️💕❤️ Thanks for sharing 🎉🎉🎉
So sorry about the loss of your dear brother. His art work is great, such a wonderful way to greet and introduce visitors to your lovely apartment. Beautiful space!❤
Beautiful apartment Katelyn. I love your brother's art the most. I love the contrast that you have in each room. I don't mind the ums because I know being on camera is nerve wracking. Thank you so much for sharing your special home.
The interior design is amazing. Feels very cozy, modern and girlie😊 🎉. This apartment in NYC just makes me feel to move in immediately. Kind regards from Germany.
LOL- Love your NYC apt. I'm in ATX and am counting down to moving to NYC... Oh and great thrifting find with the Il Bacio perfume bottle from Borghese. I remember them on the cosmetics counter for display back in the 90's I worked at the Prescriptives counter next to them. :)
I was so touched by this video. I love seeing creative interior design which is why I watch these videos but seeing the art work in the entry done by her little brother in fifth grade was so very emotional and inspirational. Seeing the adorable photo of him and then the one of him with no hair and his head down just spoke so much of real life and loss…. The hard part of real life. His sweet sister is moving on which she has to and her precious little brother ( who I believe lives on in Heaven) has left a beautiful legacy. Thank you for this video…. It has left a permanent mark on my life and I am sure others. ❤️
Adorable place…why don’t you put a small bookcase inside your fireplace to put your books on…you will love it!! Thankyou for sharing your house with all of us…love your brothers painting….I still have all of my kids artwork up….it’s made with love!!! Thank you again for sharing. Carolyn from Columbus ga
The apartment is colorful and delightful, but I'm stuck on them checking out, moving to NYC during the pandemic and falling in love with it. I wonder how they reacted to the city afterwards with 8 million people in the streets and trying to get a table at their favorite restaurant- ha.
Very talented! Loved the apartment and Katelyn's personality. Got a bit emotional with her brother's art work. Thank you for inviting us into your beautiful home.
