I love all of your “I don’t want to hear it” remarks. You make me laugh and smile so much. No judgement here. I totally understand the remodel process. Just keep telling yourself that it is temporary and it will all come together some day! You’re doing a GREAT job. 👏👏👏
Totally agree. Two lamps that are not matchy-matchy look curated. As much as I love art (I’m an art curator), I hate when an art piece is chosen “to match a sofa”. I would rather have bare walls for a while than place there an ‘artwork’ from amazon. Art is thoughts and ideas, it’s not craft. You are building a conscious environment where there’s no place for conventional solutions 😉 Looking forward to seeing more updates, and thank you for being you!
With the walls being sooo white you definitely need a large piece of artwork that pulls in the colors and style of the room. While it’s tacky to bring in art that matches your furniture, find a large piece and I mean LARGE, not the little tiny pieces of art you normally seem to use to help bring this room together. You got this. You’ve done a pretty good job bringing in so many different pieces but less is more. Good to see you back. Missed you.
I love the red lamp on the wall. It’s not only a functional lamp, but an art piece. It was great seeing you post. Nothing like a good ol’ Arvin dance break… a throwback to your Homegoods rug show! LOL. Looking forward to more vids soon!
I think the sconce diminishes the height and weight that the floor lamp would otherwise give to the room. I also see your point about softening the shade.
So worth the wait! If the floor lamp is raised a bit, I think both lamps are incredible in the space. How about softening with wall art? Framed fabrics/rugs are a personal favorite. Fingers crossed we will see a skylight in the kitchen 😉
Agree with you on the articulating wall sconce, though I love it. The brass lamp is such a show stopper that it needs something quieter and more subtle on the opposite side. Perhaps the wall sconce in the library? Andrew is such a trouper!
Arvin, I love the way your home is coming together. I agree with you - I love that brass lamp and I like the sconce, but the two of them together isn't working as well as it should. I would change out the sconce for something softer. I love that the sconce is articulated - that will be super-helpful in the space and will allow you to use the light to focus (and refocus) attention on items or tasks as needed. I would definitely try to find a fabric sconce or even a natural fiber shade - something softer and more organic as the brass lamp has always been one of my favorite pieces of yours. You want that lamp to sing.
I love your growth. I started watching when you were running through Target and HomeGoods. Now looking at your home now, I can’t imagine anything from those stores, in your space. I love that funky wall sconce. Before changing it, try adding a textural, neutral art piece. Hi Andrew!
The pure joy you take in what you do is so contagious, Arvin❣️ Wish we could bottle your energy! Love everything you do to create beautiful spaces. You and Andrew are such a wonderful team. 💞
Love what you do! Beautiful pieces of furniture, lamps, rugs, cushions etc. Actually, I saw your lightbrown/beige/butteryellow cushion in your last video, the one on your blue daybed and right away I knew that it was the color I was looking for for my website! Yes, clearly interior design can inspire other areas of creativity! Thanks for the inspo!
That vintage red wall lamp has a lot of character. I love it! I think the red pairs perfectly with the gold and blue upholstery. But I hear what you’re saying about wanting a balance of textures! It’s fun seeing how everything is coming together. It takes time to create a home.
That Stilnovo sconce is just stunning! Everything is coming along so wonderfully. I really don't think of the brass standing lamp and the sconce as matchy-matchy at all, but I can also imagine one of those Domus teak wall lamps with a linen shade there. And I guess you could find another spot for the fab red sconce.
Andrew is just like my husband - an electrician who is laidback and does everything I ask (mostly) and I'm you - squealing over the tiniest thing we build/move/renovate/install that makes me happy 🥰
Nobody asked but I would actually love the articulating MCM sconce in the library 👏👏👏👏👏👏 and big beautiful art in the living room. Love your style and funk Arvin ❤️😉😘✌️
I agree that the sconce is begging to move to the library, as task lighting. The LR, instead, wants an oversized pendant light with fabric shade. Don’t mess up the ceiling with a hardwire fixture, though. Use a plug-in power source (or convert it) and swag the pendant lamp. Then it’s easy to move and reposition. The roasts are a fave feature. I learn so much from them. Keep roasting everyone, yourself and subscribers included. Congrats on your Rugs USA Collection. It’s beautiful. Please pace yourself. It’s good you are so successful, but don’t feel pressured to work to exhaustion. You need a life outside of work, too, or you risk burning out like a comet. No, no, no. You are a star.
Love how your lounge area is coming along, the light looks wonderful. I’m glad you decided to go with the office how you work easy and comfortable & not the conventional setup look.
Ok, nobody asked but I love it all! It just keeps getting better & better! The articulating MCM sconce is beyond words, that said I agree 100% w/ your later observations on placement & etc. It was visually encroaching/competing & somewhat cancelling out all the other carefully curated wonderful pcs. Great score on those vintage finds/gorgeous books! Kudo's x2; 1st. doing it one lamp at a time, imo, this is how truly good design evolves! 2nd; speaking to the naysayers (they're so petty & more often than not, ill informed)! Thank you for sharing & inspiring...
Yes we've noticed was looking for a post and watching older feed when suddenly at 17s You posted...happy you guys are doing Good was getting worried but Love ❤️ the changes and thanks for the Updates 🎉
Love that "wall sconce" but Since I was writing my comment you'd said you'd be changing the fabric on the chaise, so obviously that will seriously change the vibe >>but I'll make my decision now after
@@ArvinOlano beautiful lighting is like jewellery 😍. I love seeing the evolution of your home and your style. By the way you can totally pull off any fashion, that hat included.
It is looking great but I totally agree. My first thought before you said it was, "You need something softer with the wall lamp." I think you are spot on and heading in the right direction but it's a process...trial and error. All part of the fun!
Hey Arvin, you look so happy and full of positive energy. So nice to see you again. I love the space and I think that a small brown painting above the mustard daybed would balance the sconce nicely.
Glad to see you! I like a fabric shade on that type of a sconce. Maybe move that sconce to your library and find a scone with an arm and fabric shade for living area.
Oh Arvin things are coming together so nicely! I love that everything you bring into your home has a story, and the pieces you have are so individually unique. Nothing looks matchy-matchy to me. In the living room I wouldn’t change the red sconce, it’s one-of-a-kind and functional. I LOVE the couch/settee, and its color, but you gotta be in love with the fabric. I feel like with the couch, pillows, blue chairs, and even the florals you have lots of softness, but if you wanted more maybe go for a cool tapestry above the couch 😉 In the new library/office, that bookcase is EVERYTHING, and all it needs is a couple of houseplants ☺️
Hi Arvin! I’ve missed you. If you are going to recover that daybed in one of the colours you showed us, I think you will need the pop of colour the sconce provides to punctuate your space. Your floor lamp is lovely, but it looks marooned. If you keep the sconce, are you putting anything else on the wall over the daybed? My eye is drawn to the significant expanse of dead wall between the two light sources. Perhaps a smaller, horizontal painting hung to the right of centre over the day bed would balance the sconce and floor lamp. You can achieve the softness you are seeking in the art piece, say, a water colour in the creams and beiges of your decor, or even something dark and moody. I would hang it, unframed. Just a thought.
Thanks for sharing your journey, it is not easy and you are doing your best! You still have a life to live, so take it easy! You are a such darling and makes me smile every time look at your video ❤
The brass lamp is divine!!!! I feel like muted/abstract fabric-based art piece (tapestry, or painting in a distressed fabric frame) could bridge the two lamps together and add some softness. The starkness might be from the negative space.
The sconce is awesome. I think what's missing is a fabulous piece of art work on the wall to tie the floor lamp and sconce together so that it tells more of a story.
Love the red sconce with perhaps some artwork and a pop of red on your daybed, love the floor lamp but maybe in another part of the room, you are very inspiring.
You are right on the lamp. When you held up the fabric shade I could see exactly what you were describing. Also, love that navy book stacked with the terracotta colored book paired with the blue velvet on the day bed in your library.
Love the red sconce although I think if you spray paint it the same color as the tables it may tie in a bit better. Amazing job, you’re so talented and your passion 100% shows.
The wall sconce and the metal floor lamp look great together, even if they are both metal! The red sets the two apart plenty. With a piece of artwork over the settee it will bridge the gap and make it all more of a composition.
Aside from the home decor, I am absolutely loving your eyeglasses in this video. I don’t know if they’re new or if I just didn’t notice them before, but they are stunning on you!
Why did I think ‘Pharell William’ when you had that hat on , it really suited you 🥰, I adore your living room sconce 😳🥰, you have great taste , Andrew is so sweet & clearly loves you very much 🙏🏻🇬🇧xxxxx
@@ArvinOlano My friend, you are fine. Let's look at what has happened in your life in just 2yrs....covid, buying a home, renovating a home, getting engaged, you are just human and I for one appreciate it.❤️
Aww just watched the rest of the video-thank you for filling in your RU-vid fam, much support! Ps always love a wild phone filmed blog mash up if that’s in the cards 😉
I love how it's turning up! the sconce looks amazing! but you have such great options with the fabric shade lamp and the bronze lamp, difficult to tell, I'd wait until the rest of the house is organized and settled and then start moving things around. And please, where did you get that writing desk!! what a jewel piece!! Another suggestion: try to use live greenery or fresh flowers in your vases instead of dried ones for feng shui purposes :) you guys are doing a fantastic job!!
Omg that sconce is freakin amazing!! I do see your point about conflict with the other lamp. I'm going to see if I can find a video about how you resolved the situation.
Ok, I may need your striped rug. I’ve been looking for one exactly like that. And I’m so glad you said that about the lamp. I do love it and you’re the one who lives there, so if you love it, keep it. BUT I was thinking you need something to soften it up and then you said it 🎉 Yay!
