I used the alcohol treatment because I had no stains just the really strong unbearable smell...It worked.

Can you explain a little about the smell please, I bought a 60's home I can find no visible signs of mold, I'm remodeling too. I see nothing underneath or the attic. About every 3 months a terrible burning must smell fills the entire home, it has old carpet. Its borderline headaches & sore throat. If you're moving around you don't smell it if you sit still it becomes unbearable. It's driving me insane bending down and smelling the carpet I can't smell anything. To me it smells like an extinguished outdoor fire or a gas leak. I have had the house tested for gas leak and that's not it. It seems to be happening with humidity or season changes. Does any of this sound familiar to you. If you directly smelled the carpet could you smell it? Thanks 🙏

you don't show us how you killed the mold. Did you pull up carpet and spray bottom where mold is or did you spray from the top part? I can only see the mold from under the carpet but can smell the bad odor a lot.

That's funny, I googled it and it all suggests vinegar! It's probably better to dry it using a blow dryer or fan though. Letting it air dry could allow extra moisture to stay trapped and, yes, THAT can create more mold. But, if done correctly, that spot should stay mold free. The vinegar left on the carpet actually prevents new mold from growing. Bleach is extremely harmful people! Vinegar can replace almost ALL of your everyday cleaners! I haven't bought cleaners in years!

Hydrogen peroxide works great. if you use vinegar have as Much ventilation as possible since it opens the spores! If you inhale it's very toxic. If you do inhale you can take oregano oil soft gels to assist your body in clearing the fungus from your body. Also Colloidal silver is a natural antibiotic which helps fight any infection. 10-20 drops 3 x daily. for at least 10 Days.

What if it's a dark colored carpet. Would vinegar or alcohol discolor the carpet?

This isn't actually correct. My carpet grew mold because the vinegar I cleaned it with originally didn't dry, the mold grew on the wet vinegar when there was no mold to begin with, so no, vinegar doesn't kill mold. Google it, mold grows on vinegar often, and vinegar should not be used to clean mold.

I think that's why she makes a point (more than once) that you must have a means to make sure it dries. My 2 year old son spilled milk behind the recliner and it went unnoticed until I was cleaning behind it today. I will be trying this, but I do have a carpet cleaner that I will use and in addition, I will be putting a fan over the spot over the weekend.
