I used Pon in the bottom of my pots and Aroid Mix as my growing medium. Some older plants I repot this method. It works very well🪴 I used self watering pots. I have 12 Syngoniums varieties in a 14 inch pot growing like weeds. It works for my conditions. We all have diff conditions. 👍🏾Videos. It’s Tranquil. I’m June in My Junegle VA 🪴Happy Planting🌿
I'm interested in hydroponics. I've propped a Calathea (saved it's life) in water and am thinking of keeping it that way. Also, I'm not sure why pon is so popular? Seems like a lot less space for air than pumice. Pumice is a lot cheaper too.
How do you like that small Ikea greenhouse? It seems the top is quite narrow, so I have held off on buying it. I would never, ever put my 'tropicals' outside. Here we have earwigs, rolly pollies, centipedes, millipedes, ants, snails, etc, etc, and the earwigs really freak me out. I have plants outside in pots and they always have all those bugs and probably more - bc they're outside.
What a great question. Initially I loved it. But my plants quickly outgrow it. It is really hard to keep the humidity high in there. I’ve even tried weather stripping but there are just some spots you can’t really weather strip. So I end up keeping it open and blowing my humidifier into it. And then I sometimes wonder what’s the point of that. It just takes up extra space and I could fit way more plants in the spot without it there. The bottom line is that it’s pretty and it breaks up the space a bit. So it’s more for aesthetics rather than functionality. I wouldn’t put my dear tropicals outside either. Like my Hoya or baby plants. The big hardy plants that can afford to lose leaves are usually the ones I’d risk putting outside. Thank you for watching and commenting 🪴😊
