love how paige "coincidentally" decides to post a video about housewarming gifts right before she moves to a new house and starts the video by saying "these are housewarming gifts I'd like to recieve" like Paige's friends get the hint
Random oldish lady truth: as I look back on the most soul-crushing, heartbreaking changes in my life, I can tell you this: Everything eventually works out ok. Often for the best, but sometimes just fine. I hope you are feeling great, but fine is ok. 🤗
Yes a nice quality blanket is so nice, I always like a soft blanket gift but definitely prefer quality ones.. you can go for their style or something classic and versatile so that even if if doesn’t go on display it’s still so nice when you have company and can hand them something quality and cozy to use!
The other thing to add with a coffee table book is that you can write a personal note on the inside cover which is nice for the recipient to look back at in the future.
Dish towels are great. I buy linens at thrift stores all the time. My eclectic dish towel collection adds a pop of visual interest in my otherwise generic stainless steel applianced kitchen. All this to say - this 33 year old would LOVE to receive linens.
I guess it depends on the person? My friends and family know that I’m picky enough and obsessive about picking my own decor that they would just give me gift cards to my favorite home decor store lol. Idk though. I feel weird imposing decor pieces to people to actually put in their home, so I wouldn’t gift decor (or clothes for that matter).
A vintage vase or pitcher is a great gift. I also like giving pottery bowls from craft/ art shows. They look beautiful but they are sturdy enough to use regularly.
I’m turning 17 in may… I’m still living at my moms… I’m still going to Highschool… BUT… I would DIEEEE for any of those things!!!!! I’m not sure if I could use linens yet, but I will sometime … You’re really amazing Paige✨✨
Once we can travel again = Tea towels are the best souvenirs. On our last trip to France, tea towels came home for family members = almost no weight or space in the suitcase
I buy tea towels as travel souvenirs all the time! I bought several one with the London tube map on them the last time I was in London and people loved them.
My favorite housewarming gift I have ever gotten is a super cool set of chopsticks! Definitely not something I would think I needed or would have bought for myself but we use them allll the time and they are so pretty.
If Paige gifted me anything I would just trust her judgment and love it even if I didn't think it was my style before because she's the queen of an eclectic cozy home 🏡
Got my son a tiny bathroom art piece for his first home that said "5/5 would poop here again" he laughed so hard when he saw it & ended up putting it in his livingroom!!! 😂 He's young & ridiculous & all his friends think it's great.
These were excellent suggestions! I actually love gifting a cute (sometimes vintage!) butter dish to people. Another thing people don’t often get for themselves but who doesn’t love butter from a pretty wee dish
This was the best list of housewarming gifts I’ve ever found. I’m so inspired to buy friends things and now. Also, I think a fun throw pillow is worth adding to the list. Or a cool basket.
I love all your vintage recommendations! Video idea could be "how to search for vintage" because it is a sort of skill for how to do keywords or utilize eBay/etsy (I collect large brass animals haha)
I feel like dish towels are to home goods what socks are to clothing; we don't really want to splurge on the nice ones for ourselves and they're so common they can get overlooked when shopping for gifts, but everyone appreciates it when they do get high quality ones as a present.
I just found the most beautiful pair of matching hot pink and powder pink flamingo book ends and it’s truly the 1st purchase of mine that’s actually made me feel like i’ve began my collection i’m so excited lol
all i receive as a gift are dishtowels and now i am drowning in dish towels!!!! but i am also not asking for the gifting to stop because dish towels are fun and there are some very unique ones
It’s interesting that many things that appeal to you as a 27-ish year old repels me as a 58 year old! Most things you like that I don’t like are things that take me back to my youth…not an especially happy time for me. 🙋♀️
It works like that. I was a teenager in 2000 and when I see things that were popular back then (and i didnt like them backthen and also was not too happy) that comes back right know and todays teens think that these things are cool and vintage it makes me gag! :d
Great ideas wasselpa, just FYI the olive oil and vinegar containers are called cruets, or cruet set. Those vintage, or any match striker really will need self-igniting matches. Regular matches will not work. Can you do a video on thrifting day in LA?
OMG. YES!! I would LOVE to go thrifting with Paige in L.A. Then I can go to the stores after and get good stuff that she already sourced! Brilliant suggestion!
PAIGE!! I friggin love you! You’re the younger sister I never wanted ! Lol! You and I share the same esthetic and just moved from Florida to Palm Springs California- you need to visit - I’ll be your tour guide for a bonanza of vintage finds at great prices ! My goal is to get on the same level as Kate! Im Pendleton!
I like to give people funky tea towels or nice hand soap. Sometimes plants, I like to hand sew plant pot covers, with makes it more personal. Maybe a cool mug.
Living in a high fire risk area I would never give someone real candles or any vintage lamps with old wiring. I am way too worried about the risk. Candles in a home should have a glass surrounding a few inches above the flame for safety at an event or also I think in a home with pets and kids. I absolutely love the bowl and wild glassware idea and the vintage book ends and tiny art. I got a tiny oil painting on a canvas with magnets on the back of Hawaiian theme and kept it on my desk at work and looked at it every day. It was like 1” x 2”. I loved it and got it from my paint night instructor. 😃 Please do home gifts for people who like horses or sailing.
I would want every single gift you suggested, except art because I think that’s very personal and I feel you need to know the person’s style very well to pull that off.
You should do a video about when you get a bad housewarming gift or home decor gift, what should you do? I always get gifts with lots of words on them from one particular side of my family. I don’t know why they get them for me because nothing in my house really looks like that. They also are not into antiques or art and I am. I love to give people beautiful hand towels as gifts because that’s very useful and it’s nice to have a couple of really nice hand towels for your bathroom. I love to give art to people as well. I usually have it framed so they can just hang it. I’ve definitely made mistakes. I gave my sister in law a handmade bowl and I think she hated it because I never saw it again 😬.
I would appreciate some textured throw pillow covers, pretty lace/embroidered borders to add to stuff, carved wood anything, plants/plant pots, mirrors, baskets...
I absolutely love all your suggestions for housewarming gifts and these could easily translate to general gift ideas. I gifted my SIL some vintage amethyst crystal wine glasses for Christmas this year and she loved them. I really love how you continue to suggest people buy vintage rather than get new items. It’s sustainable, super affordable and you get a much higher quality piece than you would for the same price brand new. How many items manufactured today will last 60 or 70 years? Not very many
This was totally awesome 😎 Thank you Paige! I love all these ideas. Every time I need to give a gift for anyone I’m going to refer to this. Good luck on your new adventures!
Love me some good vintage. I found Moretti giblets at my Goodwill. 99 cents a piece with thirteen on the shelf. Grabbed everyone. My mom used to have a large Treasure Craft astray growing up. Looked like wood on the outside with bright orange glaze on the inside. I have a lot of midcentury glass. I love it isn't mass produced. Glad I'm not the only one with a hangup for a good kitchen towel.
I gifted my neighbour a teatowel! It has line drawings of a cat that looked like her cat. Also gifted art a few times. Twice a vintage travel poster (one of a place my friend hopes to travel & another where the couple went on their honeymoon). My brother said he wants his new condo to be “Mid Century, with pop art” so I got him a small print of the Andy Warhol soup can along with an MCM design book.
I completely agree with you Paige almost every Christmas when my daughter ask me what I want for a Christmas gift I tell her a coffee table book on interior design, photography or rock music book!
YES to all of these, best house warming gift I got was a vintage glass vase from my moms best friend, I've used it so much and people always ask where I got it. It beats that target Mail organizer that says "Welcome" that people usually get!
Great ideas Paige and you look so professional lol. I love the ideas especially the small art and the unique and/or vintage match holder and ashtray! Also love the fun glassware cuz why not?! Glad to see you laugh. Good luck on your move.🌻
I just asked for candle sticks for my new place! It's surprisingly super hard to find cute or unique ones. So, when I get some as a gift I won't feel bad about finally burning the one set of cute candle sticks I have now.
Nice options. I like Etsy for housewarming gifts. Just purchased 3 different pairs of salt & pepper shakers for 3 different people - 2 were handblown glass (one was a set of little pigs!), the third pair was a silver plated apple and pear. I love Etsy for unusual house stuff.
You introduced me to Prop Styling, and ever since I cannot think of anything I'd like to do more than Prop Styling. I just love your videos, I watch them religiously. I wish I had the chance to meet you in person! I fell in love with your videos right away, because we share the same thoughts on many things and we have very much in common, I think! Always excited about your next video!
I love this list! I got that exact match striker as a gift last year, and I absolutely adore it. The only issue I have with it is that you have to buy “strike anywhere” matches, otherwise normal matches don’t work on the striker area. Otherwise it’s beautiful and I wouldn’t mind another for another room! Also, you’re right… you just can’t go wrong with a great coffee table book. Those vintage ashtrays are nice! They’d be for holding things though. even if someone does smoke, it won’t be in my house lol.
👌🏼Even the Thumbnail is eye catching and very professionally designed! No business coat needed! I'm also attracted to vintage ashtrays, especially the colorful glass ones with weird shapes, wish we could use them for candies or olives, but no way! A video about what not to give would be hilarious! 😂
Same recommendation for kids - they have plenty of toys...buy them art! There are so many sweet prints and pieces that would brighten up a room, and can grow with the child. They may not appreciate it immediately, but hopefully someday they will
Please don't stop recommending buying vintage!! That's one of my favorite things about your videos. If people want brand spanking new suggestions they can jump on over to Arvin Olano and Nick Lewis. Love them, mean it. But for those of us that thrift and shop vintage all day long we need your spot on suggestions, 'mkay? Thanks!
