I live in Chicago and quite frankly, I’m very surprised to see this in a red state like Texas. I would think that Texas wouldn’t put up with so many people living on the street like the way they are tolerated in blue cities like Chicago or San Francisco or Los Angeles.

These are people who do not want to be housed by the city. They don't want the rules and regulations that come with city provided or organization provided housing. Having to be in at a certain time each night, possible drug testing, etc.

Any Leftist from Chicago or San Francisco would say something like _”Oh honey theeze poor souls! I hope they can get the help they need!”_ … the truth is that Ronald Reagan was right, living on the street is almost always by choice.

Not saying they all don't want to be there because there are some. But my buddy tried to give a joint to a panhandler and he refused, said he doesn't smoke nor drink. Didn't want to be in the shelter anymore for fear of being robbed and assaulted again

I was in the Pollo Asado on Canal St. enjoying a lunch after a very very difficult morning and in walks a beggar asking every patron for a dollar. Once he got a dollar he left. It is so so annoying. I am struggling to pay my bills. That beggar only sees that I am enjoying an $ 18 lunch.

Let the man enjoy his chicken. He proably got off work. He worked for it. I agree is annoying when someone comes up for a dollar when he is perfectly capable of asking everyone for change. If he can walk and talk, he certainly can get a job. Ill be mad too if they come up to me for a dollar. Go get a job and let me eat in peace.

Better hope it doesn't turn more and more into a Los Angeles because if it does that will be one of the only talking points for people not wanting to move here. Everyone has to remember that the policies people asked for in this city are for typically very liberal types which is normal, you go outside the city and that's when you see right-leaning policies more in place and despite being poorer communities have the right leadership in place. Remember, when it comes to creating an environment you want to be in, hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. In this case, when you finally start getting a lot of tax revenue it's easy to let laziness and comfort takeover which allows these corrupt official to sneak and siphon off your labor energy for their own benefit, be vigilant.

I been homeless for the last year and i can't get help anywhere. Won't nobody hire me or anything. Is there anybody out there can help me get a job. I'm forklift certified. IM ALSO SERIOUS.. PLEASE !! Im 29 years old and a great worker its just hard for certain ppl it seems like

Have any of you been to BURNS ORIGINAL BBQ in the Acres Homes neighborhood? They just might have the BEST barbecue in Houston, but sadly are located in a HORRIBLE part of town, with lots of homeless druggies!

Granted there are limits on the mental health issues but how much of it is an excuse just to deny a person the right to work. Under handicap laws. Ect. Same for drug use. If stipulated in the application they. Fail to keep clean there fired its a business that has to assist in it and state to assist in it.
