Quickness means nothing when you're 160 lbs soaking wet and tiny, he won't be able to guard a cone lmao Reed was statistically one of the best shooters in all of college stop it. Last thing this team needs is another ball dominant dribbling mf
@@nocap6000 Anything over 35% from 3s is good. Dillingham is shooting 44% from 3s while Reed, 52%. But we know those stats are not gonna hold once they get in the NBA because the defense is much tighter in the NBA than College basketball. So you can expect their % to come down a couple notches to mid to high 30's %. So, they basically will be good shooters. Where the separation comes in, and according to the needs of the Rockets, Dillingham is a natural PG. He can run point in a half court setting. That's not a strong trait with Reed. He's more like Amen; running point in fast-break sitiations and tramsition baskets. We need a PG that can settle the offense down. Get guys in their set, breakdown a defense and able to shoot and hit 3s. Dillingham make more sense than Reed.
Keep developing the young players that we have. Sengun has help now with Steven Adams in the mix. Let’s get a shooter. I cannot over emphasize this. I’ve watch this team the whole season and shooting is a big problem with this group, especially with the 3 point shot. Please get Reed Sheppard.
@@jihadmuhammad9491 didnt know your last name was stone. U have no idea what they wanna do with that pick. We could very well pick him at 3. Udoka said we needed shooting right???? And sheppard is the best shooter in the draft. So I could see us getting him just off pur need
@derrickgiles5288 I don't think you know the way the NBA works. Nobody is going to pick a guy that's never going to be a starter as a top 3 pick. There's plenty of Reed Shepard in the NBA. Come back here on draft night so I can say I told you so. We just had Gary Matthew's and we traded him.
@@jihadmuhammad9491 we need shooting. Thats exactly what udoka said and we know if udoka wants someone we will get em. But look u could be right. I dont know how the NBA works becuz ive never worked in a front office. Im a fan of the Houston rockets. Thats it. If u look at our roster the thing we are missing is 3 point shooting and rim protection. Thats it. So thats why I said its clingen or sheppard
Guys, this team need shooters. We need a three point specialist. There have been times where this team can’t buy a basket, especially late in games. I would go Reed Sheppard I’m sorry. We just need a 3 point threat in today’s modern NBA and be able to create some space on the floor.
I think Dalton is ready now and solves our number one issue. THREE POINT SHOOTING. He is big enough that you have to stay glued to him unlike Sheppard who you simply close out on. A second unit with Amen, Cam, Dalton, Tari, and Aquaman would be lethal.
We hope Zaccerie Risacher falls because he’s an even better shooter with more size & way more upside. Drafting Dalton at 3 for a team that’s roughly 500 is a no go. He’s already completely developed. We want upside! Sacher, Clingan, Sheppard, Cody Williams. One of these 4 is the guy!
When we look back on this in 10 years Sarr, Salaun, and Dillingham will be the best overall players from this draft imo. Reed, Knecht, Risacher, Clingan, and Ware all provide skillsets that’ll fit immediate needs for the Rockets. I honestly wouldn’t mind if we drafted any of these players. I’m sold on Ime as the coach and the natural growth of talent we have with the core 6. We’re in a great position no matter what, honestly!
I'd go with Ware. Only reason is Clingan is going to be a statue if he ever catches the ball and has to make a play, I remember Harden used to pass it to Capela and he couldn't even hit a wide open cutter. The best teams have 5 players that can all pass, dribble, and shoot and play D.
@@jihadmuhammad9491 good points, but actually Clingan in a good passer out of the pick and roll. He’s not a ball stopper at all. Only issue I have with his game is foot speed defensively and inconsistent shot offensively. It’d be hard for him and Sengun to share the court if any of those don’t improve over time.
@@judarod1 yeah I like the kid a lot…he’s giving me Garland/Maxey/Kyrie vibes. I think he’ll be great scorer from day 1. He’ll just need to get stronger and more consistent on defense.
@@DaRealRRichReed defense is good wtf are you talking about? He’d fit perfectly in udoka defense. Great off ball iq player gets lots of steals in passing lanes
Reed Sheppard is my top desire now bc he fits a need and even though he’s undersized I think he’ll end up being the best player in this draft when it’s all said and done
That’s where I’m heading too I’m not opposed to Clingan but he would be behind Sengun so he wouldn’t get that many minutes. Reed is probably the best fit on our team
Pencil it in - they are taking Reed Shepard. Coaches like Udoka can't resist a gritty guy from a basketball family. The 42 inch vertical and his musculature compensate for his height. He may be short but he is not small. Shooting, hustle, and IQ give him a high floor. He is not a reach at pick 3. Castle is the interesting one - he may be the star in hiding. If I'm the Wizards I take Castle over Risacher. Shepard can come in and take Holiday's minutes by mid-season.
I like the idea of drafting Matas Buzelis. High upside player that averaged 15ppg on 42% in an awful ignite offense, while being a top shot-blocker in the G. He has all the tools to be the best player in this draft at 6'10, 38in. vertical and 3-level scoring, with complimentary court vision. He's had a weak showcase at 3 this season but shot 40%+ in high-school. We should utilize Udoka while we have him on contract to help develop Buzelis into a star.
Please no, 42% is atrocious and 27% from 3 is absolutely disgusting and he's not 6'10 at the combine he was measured 6'8.75. Having Chet Holmgrens frame while being that size doesn't sound too good and he hasn't been shooting good in the combine either
@@nocap6000 He's 6'8 if NBA was played without shoes on. Weight is an exaggerated concern with wings. What player that was dragged for being skinny at 3/4/5 didn't put on weight? I'm not down with drafting guards top 5 back to back especially at 6'3 and the West getting bigger & bigger (shai6'6, wemby 7'4,etc.) I get the whole 'ceiling' thing but if that's the case then just trade down with the Pistons.
@@nocap6000 That’s his height without shoes and they don’t play barefoot. I think he may start making his 3’s considering his history. There are several players I like but none I’m in love with…I personally wouldn’t have a problem if the Rockets drafted him.
Let me see: Donovan Clingan at center, Alperen Sengun at power forward, Jabari Smith at small forward, Jalen Green at a shooting guard, and Amen Thompson assigned as a point guard.
Topic has higher upside in the long run. However, his shooting is his weakness now. I can't imagine 3 players on the floor that can't shoot at the same time (Sengun, Amen & Topic).
If Cam Whitmore would’ve been the number one pick this year, then how about we trade him and the number 3 pick for the number 1 pick and we draft Sarr?
Reed is a 6'2" SG, we already have an undersized backcourt as is with FVV & JG. Topic & castle are picks you can justify taking at #3. Given their size and ceiling as players.
Sengun really needs to work on his ball handling skills. He can be very clumsy at times and very clumsy with the ball. When FVV and Jalen Green are out of the game, we need someone who can continue the shooting and not get too far behind while those guys are resting.
Who in this draft u think that is? I wanna trade the pick and get a scorer that can come off bench. Yes he have cam but if we had one more scorer coming off the bench that would be cool
@@derrickgiles5288 I’m talking about someone who can get buckets consistently when we need them. I’m talking about a 3 point sniper. I like Reed Sheppard. But if you can bring someone in that can do that, I’m for that as well. But we need that shooter that can shoot 3’s on a consistent basis.
This whole draft is full of roll players with maybe just maybe a few that can be close to an all star if things go right. They should just pic whoever they like and live with it and try to develop the player into what they want and need and finish developing who they have.
You said Dillingham was a shooting guard and his skills would be replicated among other guys already on the team but Dillingham is actually listed on most sites as a pg and Reed is actually the shooting guard so if you take into consideration the addition of Steven Adams you probably don't need another "old school" center that can't shoot threes. Look at the teams still playing in the second round. They all have bigs that shoot threes and just so you know, it's not too many mocks that had Castle over Dillingham. I get that Reed shoots lights out from the three but if the guys we already have don't come back as better shooters, this so - called "internal growth" then what the hell is Stone talking about.
Having now watched film, I’d rather draft than trade for a star. I don’t think financially it makes sense to go for a name now when there is so much promise in our current group. If we get Clingan he could learn from Adams for a season and already looks like a great shot blocker. Reed also looks like a good draft with the shooting and could be back up PG as I see Amen taking over the Swiss Army knife role from Tate would should be traded now due to a lack of use.
Greetings, I am a Houston Rockets fan and analysis, Houston must be the right draft pick 3, namely Red Sheppard, he has the genes of a future star, he is a duplicate of Step Curry New or John Stockhon... with a fantastic 3 point shot, this is what Houston needs... Another reason is because Freed Vanvleet is at the end of his 2 year star life, this is a suitable replacement... Don't make the wrong choice, you'll regret it later, if you choose Risacher we're already in Shergun, if you choose, D. Calingan won't be the right duet with Shergun... In fact, it would be better to swap Shergun for Zion Williamson, Houston's team will be wowed... And another good talent is Knecht, I hope Houston is good at taking advantage of opportunities, OK, forward Rockets
Sheppard or Clingan wouldnt be bad. Fred VV aint gonna be here forever so itd be nice to have a solid backup point next to Amen in the future. They're both young and close in age and can grow together as a really solid for the Rockets future. Clingan wouldn't be bad as well. It'd be nice to have "legitamite"size in a young big that can grab boards, defend, and be a knockdown shooter along side ALP. I wish we could snag both prospects
We can go get a mid-level free agent that can probably play as well as any rookie coming out this year so I don’t think we need to search for fit we need to shoot for upside and Maybe plan a player that will be a star in a few years. I’d rather go for Zacc which looks like a 3D player at worst but at best can be Ben Simmons in his prime with a three-point shot.
this is a no brainer ffs. we need a rim protector and please don't say sengun or landale or adams. clingan is the kryptonite to wemby or jokic. (let him play in the g-league to develop) don't just look at offence. look at defensive needs of the team too. hated people always blowing by sengun all season with no fear.
I love reed but he’s tiny. Smaller than dillingham according to people at combine. Caruso seems to be his ceiling so not worth a 3rd pick. Would rather go for a home run swing like risacher/buzelis/topic or trade back
Biggest issues were 3pt shooting and rim protection…. Nikola definitely isn’t the pick. To make it simple… the pick needs to be a shooter or tall AF lol
I would absolutely hate stone if he drafted CLingan.. I don’t like the message it send drafting a Big 3rd.. you don’t take someone 3rd to never try and ;make him a starter your not just planning to draft a bench player at 3 you want someone you expect to start at some point.. now if they want to ruin this and trade Alpi go for it
Houston needs a pf like aaron gordon, do u watch playoff series denver-minnesota?in last game jokic had 35pts 12 asist 5rbnds at 4.Q, and gordon had 13 rebounds meanwhile, Minnesota has beasts gobert, kat, naz reid inside but by the help of gordon, jokic changes all the game but he doesnt care about rebounds as gobert do... Houston doesnt have a pf,amen thompson is the(has to be)best option in there..jabari doesnt play any defence.. jalen green should learn how to share the ball with team and playing pick n rolls,i think jalen green should play the pg to improve his game vision and decisions, amen is a beast defending other teams star player he should play sg and develop 3s, Houston has many wings one will develop in to a decent starting 5 , you need a real pf that supports center like aaron gordon and alpy should get stronger for playing all 4Q efficiently, Houston should believe in j.green as pg thompson as best defender sg alpy as creative center, and one wing jabari cam tari whoever plays decent, missing peace is a real strong pf not like jabari ...
Dear rockets : Draft day is here. Spurs call you: Spurs receive: #3 overall pick Rockets receive: Keldon Johnson and #8 overall pick What do y'all say?
Trade that pick, i will feel so bad for whoever they draft if they keep it as they will struggle to get minutes and probably will be sent to the gleague.
I'm a Spur fan. I hope that Houston doesn't take Knecht. He would destroy the league playing for the Rockets. I was hoping they draft Risacher and that would make them wait longer for him to "grow". He's a 3 to 4 yr project. By that time, Houston would be out of contention. I warned the Spurs already, that they have too many projects. Knecht though is ready. I want him to fall to #4.
Unless nola is willing to do a dillion for zion and thier pick with lettin us keep ours i dontnwna trade it for no one. Ppl are damm passsed out on this draft but its gona come bsck n show all them that reed will be fukking amazing or who ever we get at 3
The Rox have to trade this pick. None of these prospects are better than the core 6 players and what's the point of drafting a player at #3 who most likely wouldn't start.
Please do not draft Reed Sheppard!! For obvious reasons! His ceiling is JJ Reddick and I would not draft Reddick at 3!!!!! Role player at best! Clingan is the best option since Sarr will be #1
Reed Sheppard should go to Kentucky for 4 years. Then try to go pro. He could make a killing and own the state. If he doesn’t go pro later he can still be extremely successful in Kentucky. However, he will go pro now and in 6 years be out of the NBA.
If the rockets will use the no 3 draft. They should draft Zach edey. I don't even know why people don't talk about him more often. They will regret not drafting this kid. I don't like clingan because his body is like will pursue. Nah.. I don't like sheppard because I don't like JJ reddick.I hope the rockets will not draft another guard. It's useless, any guard in this draft will go to the g league.
Are you sure we watch the same donavan clingan? İ think antony edward can turn around him 2 or 3 times until clingan realize where he is ...man clingan is tooo slow zero agility, he cant protect the rim in a real mens league ...its easy to play with little boys..
Rockets have 3 centers under contract, but we need another one? That's a really expensive back up center with the 3rd pick....probably cost 10 million a season. I do not want Clingan at all. He's a great shot blocker and passer, but he is slow, can't shoot with range or free throws, and I've heard he's already having foot issues. Everybody always wants guys off national championship teams, but a lot of the time they don't translate to the NBA game that well.
In 2027 when the Rockets are actually in contention, who will be the Rockets centers? Not Adams one year left on his contract. Not Landale who makes $8 mil a year. If the Rockets get Clingan, he gives Udoka a defensive option opposite Sengun's offense. All the big players have foot problems. Remember Yao Ming. Look at Chet who missed his rookie year.
@greglyon1402 Are you seriously freaking about who your backup center in 2027 will be? We got 3 drafts and free agencies to figure that out....usually don't use a #3 pick on a backup anything. There's a difference between injuring your foot, and having chronic foot problems. Yao's career was ended prematurely because of it....he was maybe around 30 when he retired. Eventhough big guys tend to have foot problems more than smaller players, there's a ton of centers that haven't had chronic foot problems. Big, slow, defensive centers, with no range, are a dime a dozen. We can get a European guy in the 2nd round....problem solved. I think Clingan will be a bust.
Matas Buzelis is gonna be an all star no question.he’s same height with jabari smith jr but better than jabari in all areas except for 3 point shooting & maybe defense. If I were the Rockets org I’ll select him with pick no.3. Buzelis is a better ball handler than Sheppard and he’s a 3 level scorer.Clingan is good but he doesn’t have an all star potential
Buzelis is nowhere near the prospect that Bari is. His game is sloppy & the shot isn’t good nor did it fall for him all year. He’s a decent defender but comparable to Bari with Bari getting the slight edge. There’s a reason Bari was a top 3 pick & was mocked as 1 consistently leading up to the draft in a FAR better draft class. Buzelis is in a weak draft class mocked anywhere from 4-9… Risacher & Sheppard are far better prospects. Clingan is better. Stephon Castle is a better prospect, he’s just not a great fit with guys like Amen & Whitmore. If Risacher slides to 3, he’s the guy no question. Floor spacing, he has the size to be a good defender especially under Udoka. I’d even rather have Cody Williams. At least his shot fell on sample size attempts. Matas falls to Detroit at 5 & ultimately I think we’ll be happy that we didn’t draft him. He is a 3-4 year developmental guy at best.
@@19DAY94 you haven’t watch him bro. He has more upside than Sheppard. in two years he’s gonna be the best player in this draft class, at 6’11 he can put the ball on the floor, dribble, pass, finishes well at the rim, defend and shoot. He has a very high IQ as well. Sheppard is good esp in shooting but undersized.Buzelis is a more rounded player
@@19DAY94 you haven’t watched him bro. @@luckychukwuma3822 brother… I’ve watched plenty of tape on him. When I see him, I see a 6’10 Josh Giddey but more athletic. No doubt he has the potential upside to be a top guy in this draft but there are guys who are guaranteed to be better like Risacher & the other guys I named. I don’t even think Matas is better then Ron Holland
Couldnt u match up with wemby in san Antonio games? İ remember u had a player with 40+ points against wemby and while wemby wasnt doing much in same game, remember??
1、Topic has knee harm problem like Lonzo ball. This problem will comming again and again. And he not good at 3point shot. 2、3th pick maybe is 3000W in the future. Risacher of 3000W better than Tari of 1500W? I don't think so. 3、Donovan Clingan? Come on man, we have 3 big guy. And we can not give 3000W to the defense big guy. Donovan Clingan has twice harm of Achilles tendon. 4、Rob Dillingham? He is great in offense. But his so thin so small. The important is he really bad in defense. Not only body, but also his habbit and mind. So, I suggest: Reed Sheppard, or trade to 5/6/7 choose Dalton Knecht. We can trade some other player too. If Ime want to player has good body , we focus on Dalton Knecht; If Ime want to player has good assist IQ , we focus on Reed Sheppard;
I don't get it with the Reed Shepard, Dalton, and Donovan people. Nobody's using a 3rd overall pick a 6'1 player that can't play the point, 6'5 wing that cannot play D, and a 7' foot center that has worse offensive skills than Clint Capela. They are all good players but not worth the 3rd selection. Rockets need to target players with thae potential to be a Star on at least an upgrade over someone we already have on the roster. Ron Holland, Kel'el Ware, and Zaccharie Risacher are the only players that make sense. I'd take Jamal Shead in the 2nd before wasting a 3rd pick on Reed Shepard.
Rockets immediate need is size and rim protection. Drafting Clingan will be the best pick.. not Reed a 6'1 shooter.. you don't take Reed at 3, you can find bigger Reed's in free agency. 7'2 280, can't teach that.
It really is pretty simple. If the Rockets like someone a lot at three, they keep the pick. If they don't, best to trade back. Most likely with Portland for the 7th and 14th picks and get a backup PG and backup Center. It could be someone else and a future first next year, but since giving up the 3rd pick, then no protections for future first. If the Rockets do draft two this year and one next year, that is their future eight man rotation. Or one this year and two next year. Adams, FVV, and Brooks can hang on after their contracts expire or move on to greener pastures. I bet FVV stays to get another ring. What the Rockets absolutely should not do is trade for a "superstar" that is over 30.
There will be a fight in the locker room if that happens; Easton, Whitmore, Amen and Risacher all fighting for those wing minutes is so terrible for all of those players.
@@4evahodlingdoge226Tari is a 3 and 4, he didn’t fight Jabari right? Amen is a big 1, and why assume dudes can’t get along? Tbh looking at the 4, they can all be on the court at once if need be.
I don't think this is a weak draft, there are a ton of interesting prospects, just nobody like Wemby. It makes me laugh when the experts say they have no consensus on top player and then turn around and call this a weak draft, let's just be honest, they have no clue. I've been watching a lot of highlights and I would be good with either Reed Shepherd or Matas Buzelis. If you held a gun to my head I would go Matas Buzelis right now. His upside is insane. Topic has a knee injury FYI, so his stock will be dropping. Clingan is a big strong guy in college but he's not going to bully folks in the NBA. He could be a solid role player though. Honestly, I think there are a lot of good choices for the Rockets, the French kid could be awesome as well, reminds me of Batum 2.0. Matas Buzelis reminds me of Manu, a great glue guy for a championship team that also blocks shots. Will his shooting come around though?
Great pod guys. Ben you convinced me we should keep the pick. now that don't mean I might not change my mind in the next ten minutes, that's just how I feel after this pod. this pick has put some options on the table that look pretty good. one area I do trust Stone in is the evaluation of talent, he usually finds talent with high 1st round picks. the trade avenue is kinda wait and see. if we go the trade route I dont want some recycled almost washup retread star who doesn't fit our time line. we can sign a free agent or make smaller moves to round out the team in weak areas. there are a few kids in this draft who may not impact us next year but look good and can become depth pieces for us or trade assets in the future. that's what has me leaning pick for the next ten minutes
