I'm so sorry for the family's loss🙏🏼 . This is unacceptable for people to be without power for this amount of time! This is not some poor third-world country, this is America, and the state, governor, power company, or whoever is in charge needs to get it together and be held accountable! The National Guard should've been brought in last week to assist, if not there already.

get storm proof solar panels that are enough to run an AC in the summer, when you have a power outage. texas has more than enough sun...

So you telling me there’s no one in that family that could have taken her to a place with electricity. Nobody has a car or friends or family to take her in. The freeway wasn’t closed

this person has multiple chronic diseases and dementia on top of that. before you are in someone elses shoes it is easy to pass judgement. people have their daily work and taking off time to move to another place and providing sufficient 24 hour care for a dementia patient is tough. the space needs to be safe - e.g. no stepping hazards etc. not so easy - plus her relatives want to visit her regularly and have their own problem after the hurricane.
@ipmanphil5017
@ipmanphil5017 Месяц назад
@@checkanr138 I never said having a disease and illness was easy to live with. My point is!!! Prepare best you can, let your family help you, family should stop being weak and demand what needs to be in place, old folks become senseless that’s why they need power of attorney. Once you reach a certain age normal decisions are complicated. Many options take heed. I know my 6 closest neighbors
@Musicball
@Musicball Месяц назад
It's hard for me to believe that all those folks could have had her moved to their air conditioned residences and yet chose to leave her in the heat. My guess is that they're all dealing with power issues, so it would make no sense to move her from one hot house to another. Plus it looks like she was in hospice care and bedridden. You don't go picking those folks up and putting them in any old car to drive across town. She would have to be transported by someone with the training to do that. Let's consider all scenarios before we start "attacking" the family.

I have to admit I’m surprised that Houston suffered any deaths only because the tropical islands suffered a catagory 4or 5 hurricane. By the time beryl came to Houston Texas it had dropped to a tropical storm or something I really wasn’t expecting to hear any death toll for the people of Houston I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything about any death from those tropical island

As I recall, during Hurricane Ike in 2008 the Dayton TX municipal airport recorded SUSTAINED GROUND LEVEL WINDS OF 83 mph! That is a sustained blowing howling wind, not a gust! Gusts were well in excess of 100mph! Beryl last week was nothing in comparison. Just saying. 😕
@reflect-z3i
@reflect-z3i Месяц назад
Beryl had 120 mile an hrs wind gusts and IKE had 114 mile an hour winds with 140 mile an hr gusts
@checkanr138
@checkanr138 Месяц назад
the problem is not the winds but the flooding because the hurricane brought extensive masses of water in the form of rain with it.

All those family membersnd they couldn't come up with the money to buy a $300 generator and get her a fan at least? Get some battery or rechargable fans. A small generator that will power your fridge and some fans and a light. Doesn't need to be very large. Help yourselves people. It's not that difficult.
@user-lp5ci9bi2j

Those battery fans simply aren't enough. I had 3 and still became incredibly ill from heat. Sure it's better than nothing but would certainly not keep you from death

Oh, you have no idea.. Almost 3 million Houstonians were without power at once. Generators were not $300, more like $900 & THOSE were selling out in 12 minutes, like every shipment that came in. The hotels that DID have power were all occupied for weeks.. So until you’ve experienced nowhere to turn, kindly move on & keep your cold comments to yourself. ☮️
