A severe storm with damaging winds and tornado alerts swept through Houston and surrounding areas late Thursday, causing significant destruction. In west Harris County, downed transmission lines were captured by ABC13's cameras, highlighting the storm's intensity. In Katy, damage included a snapped tree and a disrupted Starbucks location. The Cypress Springs retail plaza sign was heavily damaged. In northeast Houston, the Krab Junkie on Kelly Road suffered downed branches and debris. Major damage occurred at the Conejo Malo club on Travis Street, where a brick wall was torn off. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported an uprooted tree in northwest Houston, advising people to avoid roadways.

"In our interconnected world, the notion of equality must extend to all aspects of life, including access to essential resources like home loans. Discrimination based on race not only perpetuates social injustice but can also have far-reaching consequences, resonating beyond human interactions. When individuals are denied opportunities simply because of their race, it creates a ripple effect that disrupts the delicate balance of our shared environment. The prevalence of natural disasters such as tornadoes, earthquakes, cyclones, and the spread of disease may serve as stark reminders of the interconnectedness of all living beings and systems. By fostering inclusivity and fairness in our societies, we not only uphold fundamental human rights but also contribute to a more harmonious coexistence with the world around us. Let us strive for a future where every individual is treated with dignity and respect, where opportunities are accessible to all, and where the fabric of our society is woven from threads of equality and compassion." This statement aims to convey a deep reflection on the interconnectedness of social injustices, environmental issues, and the importance of promoting equality and inclusivity in our interactions and systems.//-

After a storm like that, it's unsafe to walk around buildings as their windows have shattered glass and loosened window frames that are at risk for landing on people below. Awnings, signs, poles, electric wires and other building items are still falling and people below can get killed. Trees also are still toppling from the soaked ground. It is best to stay away from buildings and trees for several days until things are more under control.

I live up north now but it was surreal seeing the west Beltway flooded near I-10 for over 2 weeks after Harvey in 2017. Snow doesn't bother me half as bad as the idea of losing everything I own and maybe even my own life in those crazy storms. RIP to the 4 people reported dead from the tornadoes.

This reminds me of a storm that rolled through Houston I think either 2018 or 2019. Similar situation but without the damaging winds. It looked like it was just going to be one of those heavy rain storms, nothing new. By the time everything was over, parts of our freeways were flooded, people were stranded. People couldn't get out of downtown Houston because of the huge amount of flooding that caught everyone off guard. These seemingly "run of the mill" storms will continue to grow in intensity as the years go on.

I had traveled from a point 100 miles North of Houston yesterday to Waco for deliveries and then returned to Bryan/Collage Station, Texas. Weather Underground indicated several tornadoes North of Waco and then along the Texas coast more so around the Baytown area. BCS received 6 inch's of rain at my home with flooding. No tornadoes were reported in our area. The warm gulf water plays a deadly tug of war with a stationary front which builds moisture laden warm air which can give way and be overcome by cooler air from 300 miles inland. That mix just sat there yesterday and the convection just popped off. I had not seen flooding in BCS at my home since '93. The creek (South Fork of Turkey Creek ) behind my property rose to within six feet of my home with no damage thankfully. It is not daylight as yet. I took measurements to see just how much the creek rose. In the 90's it rose 84". I expect similar but back then we saw 28" in 24 hours.

Radar indicated wind speed at the edge of the Tornado near us was 60-80 mph. Approximately 1/2 mile north of us on Barker Cypress it was showing 104 mph. Our subdivision (Rolling Green) sustained numerous trees down, missing limbs and wood fences missing large sections. Fortunately the newer end of our subdivision maintained power. Friends living north of us may be without power for 3 weeks. Street flooding was the highest we have seen since Hurricane Harvey. Our drainage is good so it did not last long. We road it out in a closet with our dogs. It was a bit scary.

Next time ,will you please get closer to the tornado so we can see how much pressure it provides. Thank you and be sure you wear protection.

I lived in Atlanta. You don’t get close to a tornado you try getting away from one. I watched twin tornados over my house in Decatur coming down and I was on the 10th floor of office building and my car was in parking garage several blocks away and storm too bad to get to garage. When I could finally get home my housekeeper was holding my little girl and in the corner of an inward room and the golf course behind us was a lake all vegetation gone pure water. Took siding off of house. My house keeper went back to her state after that. Sad, that little girl died at 60 this week . Such a beautiful intelligent person she became but her heart stopped while in hospital. Memories come back.

I had just dropped off a passenger into downtown and she told me to use the garage thankfully I did, 119 mph just before hitting dwntn Houston, I was able to look at all the damage thru a window in the garage. Maybe next time we get some sort of notification sooner we all will know just how bad it gets, Be Safe out there Houston!!

I always watch the news and they had no idea it was going to be this bad until it happened. This has been for the last few storms now. The weather has been super unpredictably lately and the meteorologist haven't been able to accurately predict these storms.

Does anyone know what’s going on in Conroe? Is it OK? Is everything flooded out? My son lives there and I can’t get a hold of him and I’m concerned.

Lots of towers out of commission in Houston area since all the flooding started. Not surprised you're having trouble getting through. Try email instead, if nothing else than to ease your worries.

Great video bro 👍🏽 worth my sub 😝 … just busting… I did subscribe however , since the time put into this video certainly shows , and the footage you compiled is awesome 👏🏽 However one thing I noticed , and wasn’t sure if it was intentional ..although certainly guessing it wasn’t , was the brick wall scene and your voice over didn’t match up 🤷‍♂️ Maybe a way to fix this problem on your end with the editing .. thought you might like to know . But otherwise a wonderful video nonetheless thanks for uploading 🙌🏽 I literally had no idea TX just got done like this .. 🤦‍♂️ and I’m on the news cycles like 24/7 😮 So I sincerely thank you for this footage , and may your channel flourish my friend 🙏🏽 🌎 ✌🏽
