Sidecar with this does look nice. - but imagine if the iPad was 22" - Apple give me an external screen as thick as an iPad - it would be so easy to do.
Please make a video after you get the 2021 iPad Pro on the stands you have tested on older versions and if they still work on the 2021 iPad Pro. Please include this one too :)
I bought and am currently using this Hoverbar Duo... and what you do not talk about is the setup is VERY sensitive to touch. It vibrates/shakes with any touch. This stand is not good for touching the iPad, but good for holding up the iPad to read and watch things.
I'm glad you are finally "taking a stand" on what could be your favorite iPad stand ;) I purchased one for my spouse for her birthday two months from now. I'm having a hard time not opening the box. I may need to get one for myself ;) Love the float over screen concept using a laptop! Using this with a keyboard/trackpad/mouse would seem to me to be a perfect combination!
This is great, but what could be improved is the holder itself. It’s spring support which means it puts constant pressure on the ipad - which in the long run would cause problem ( hello bend-gate). So I think a magnetic plate with silicon support on all corners would be ideal. It would be easy for us to charge the pencil. And if it’s possible they can then utilize the smart connectors and the base could have a usb c for charging. Upon ordering, the buyer can just choose the right size, 11 inch or 12.9 inch.
Is looks like there's a lot of wobble when you draw on it? After testing a bunch of stands myself Im finding the "laptop" stands that are thicker and have vertical and angle adjustablity actually work great for ipad since you get eye level and no wobble when using the apple pencil. Especially for artist .
Twelve South is into rebranded product now :/ you can get the Bontend Tablet Stand BS-03 for 1/8 of the price if you dont need the desk clamp. Had mine for a couple years now, got featured on your mac setup series
Most people like to keep the iPad cover (folio) on. I notice that you remove yours when using this stand. The stand’s “grip/clamp” looks a lot like those cheap tripod mount grip/clamps for phones, that grip so tightly that they shred the crap out of the sides. I think it’s ridiculous that the stand does not provide a way for the pen to remain on the iPad charger rim. This means that a person has to continually remove and reinsert the iPad throughout the day. Reviews like this one that highlight the good features and either ignore or quickly gloss over the glaring drawbacks come across as disingenuous and irritating. It makes me think they must have sent it to you as a free sample ... and you don’t have the guts to do an unbiased review.
Thank you so much for this comment. I notice that almost that every reviewer who reviews this stand or any stand will use iPads that are not in a case or not in a case that has a folio. I recently got the stand myself and I am not able to use it with the folio case that I purchased for my iPad. I could buy a case without a folio but I feel that it's stupid. I like the folio case for my iPad because it gives great protection. I don't think it would be wise for me to be taking the iPad out of the case constantly. I noticed that it takes some effort to get the iPad in and out of the case. It defeats the purpose of having the case. I have decided that I will be returning my stand. I do think that the stand is decent but I do think that there could be some improvements.
I currently use a very grippy stand with the folio cover on. So far I have had no issues. Any creases that show up on the folio cover even out on their own.
Indeed the clamp makes this stand less useful. Magnetic is the way to go. Many of the reviews I’ve seen now are mostly rave reviews. Too much rave, not enough real critical views. Somewhere people complained about stability problems with an ipad Pro M1. But sorta lost which review, as I have sen too many now.
@@ComedianHarmonistNL ... I recently bought the MagFit dock/hub stand for my M1 12.9" iPad Pro and a second MagFit stand for my 2018 12.9" iPad Pro (without dock/hub - just the stand). They are wonderful stands, the magnets work great, nice and firm without the need for any clamp (ie: like the one in this video that blocks the Apple Pen from being able to charge). The MagFit stand easily moves up and down and also smoothly rotates both horizontal and vertical. I'm super happy with both of them ... the only down side is that they are expensive, but if a person can afford the price, they are the best iPad Pro stands I've come across so far.
This looks fantastic! This might be the ultimate stand for me. I've been waiting to get a new iPad Pro, but the Magic Keyboard is a little expensive for my tastes. This, coupled with my existing Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, might just be the perfect solution to save a couple hundred bucks and give an even better experience. Thank you for this review!
Although I LOVE the typing experience on a Magic Keyboard, I had to turn down buying one for a few reasons. 1) It is an ergonomic nightmare, and 2) the lack of function keys and illumination. I decided on a modular setup that includes a compact bluetooth keyboard and an Apple trackpad. This type of set up did away with my urge to get the Magic Keyboard and offers plenty of layout flexibility. Most of all, I don’t have to worry about straining my body.
Chris, thanks to you bought one of these. It is very good quality . Definitely improved imaged quality (camera no longer looking up) and being at eye level when I face time with people. Again thank you!
Overall, It's a quality product. I do have a few concerns, however; one of them being the way the iPad is clamped into the stand. Those plastic clamps are probably the biggest stress point in that your constantly taking the iPad in and out which increases the chance of it breaking. If it does break, can it be replaced? The other thing is you mention the price as being justifiable but failed to mention what that price is which tells me that it's expensive. If you're going to hype up a product and get people excited to run out and buy one, it's good to justify the cost so that all the obstacles keeping someone from getting one are greatly diminished. (You actually covered most of them but backpedaled on it a little) Just my thoughts. Otherwise, it's a great review and video.
I don’t know about that one, but I still have one of those clamp stands for iPads tend to break the iPad. For example, the screen of my iPad came off a bit from the pressure exerted by the clamps.I have to admit I used it every day 24/7 for 3 months. Maybe, if you use it for a few hours a day, it won’t cause any damage.
Forget about the stand.... WHAT is that thing in the background that keeps going around? Please let me know... I need one. I am a Hypnotherapist and that would be so cool in my office. Truthfully I do like this video... it helped me a lot... Thank you for sharing this video. Very Helpful.
Hi, I'm a teacher for visually impaired studuents. We purchase iPad Pro 12.9 inch for them to use in class. This stand looks perfect for them and I was wondering, have you tried to use it with a case? We usually supply OtterBox cases and I'm afraid it will be too heavy... Thank you in advance.
I finally got it! This is a real game changer for me. It feels premium. I use it for my 11” with an apple old? separate keyboard w numpad. I use my 12.9 as a completely different workstation with my magic keyboard hover… This stand is well worth a look.
You’ve been able to purchase this for years on Amazon for much cheaper. I have one and the bounce is too much if you plan to touch it long term. I built myself a magnetic case that has a VESA mount. Use some plywood and a magnetic case cover.
You should sell something like it on amazon...a legit commercial product for 11'' and 12.9'' iPad Pros and iPad Air esp for Levo g2 deluxe floor stands so ipads can be easily put and removed magnetically
@@samuelmanny6231 I have built them as one offs for a few people that have found my email and reached out and are willing to pay the price. It’s unlikely I’d get into anything with Amazon though.
The only thing I don’t like about it for reasons that probably have to do with some kind of OCD is that the clamps are too bulky. Like they extend too far beyond the iPad itself and I would prefer some thing that looked even the whole way around. Like if there was someway that the whole thing could hold the iPad somehow with friction instead of actually having clamps it would be better. Like imagine a picture frame that’s made out of rubber that has a few holes in the back so that you can just push the iPad into it and then when you need to pop it back out you stick your fingers through the holes in the back and push it back out. So it would be sort of like an even rubber gasket circulating the whole thing so no matter where you’re looking there would be the same width around the whole iPad. Hard to explain I guess but it would be kind of like having a little bit of a bigger bezel around the whole thing. It’s always weird when something pops out on one or two places but not on the rest of it. It’s kind of like the notch. If the notch was around the whole thing it would suck obviously if you’re thinking about the iPhone but at least it would be even the whole way around. So it kind of reminds me of the same thing when I see two big humps coming off of the sides. It would just be nice if they could come up with a thin rubber gasket that would encircle the whole thing. Obviously the magnetic solutions work but I don’t trust those ones that hold it from the back using magnets unless you have a case with some super strong magnets so you can just have confidence that it’s not gonna fall off. I still haven’t found the perfect solution but this one’s pretty good
Been using it for a day so far, and while I love the use cases it unlocks, the rotating piece does seem to constantly need to be re-adjusted as the weight of the iPad Air brings it down.
After seeing your AirPods Pro accessories video, I noticed that CharJenPro is coming out with a Magnetic iPad Pro called the MagFlott. Looks cool. A different take compared to these recents stands.
Every product your promote is unavailable on Amazon. Is that because so many of your viewers buy the products? If so, is there some way you can give the manufacturers a heads up so they can stock up? Is there some other explanation? It’s quite frustrating.
I noticed his hands was holding down the base as he moved the articulating arm . Can this stand pass the one hand test? Meaning to move the articulating arm without having to hold down the base to prevent from tipping?
It would be so much better if you could disconnect the arm from the base or clamp with a click of a button. I would like to move it back and forth between the desk and in the kitchen without having to bother with an Allen key.
Just got mine this morning, going to unbox it now. Everything you said in your review is what I was hoping for in a stand like this one! Great review! Keep them coming!!!!
It look cool and I m looking for something like this but I'm little worrying that Can I use this with magic keyboard and iPad cover.. Because often removing cover might not good..
Hey! Thank you for this amazing video; I definitely think this is a great investment. I do a lot of writing on a daily basis, but typing on the iPad’s built-in keyboard just isn’t working for me. Do you have a suggestions for a mechanical keyboard?
Hi Chris, fellow coffee junky here, I gotta know what double-walled clear coffee mug/glass you are using in this vid!? Looks way cool. If you answered this already in the past, I definitely missed it.
Because of your review I purchased one and immediately sent I back the same day. It is not a stable unit. It jiggles too much every time you touch the screen. It may be ok to read documents but to do anything the requires a lot of touch screen, like surfing the internet or working on a movie project, the jiggling would drive you crazy. Not a good buy and certainly not for the high price of the unit.
1:54 already, I can see with minimal typing experience on my keyboard, the iPad is going to shake. you just placed ur hand on the table lightly and the iPad shakes
