Often seen as the embodiment of the American dream, Will Smith came from the rough and tumble streets of Philly to infiltrate record players, TV screens, and finally, theatres. In doing so, he became almost like a big brother or father figure to millions. Most notably, those who’d been left without that strong male role model whose actions and wisdom can help to sculpt our own behavior. But over time, that illusion has been shattered and in turn, it’s left all of those who once felt that connection now feeling marooned without that guiding light all over again.

Will Smith is the perfect example of somebody that appears to have everything - the fans, the money, and the accolades - on the surface, but he’s still a human being with his faults and insecurities. It’s time we stop worshipping these celebrities as if they’re more superior than us and start seeing them like normal people.

Will Smith has still done so much for the industry and the black community as far as kids looking up to a positive black man for most of his career, and I don't really understand why he's going through the trials right now, but I hope that people eventually leave the man alone. I haven't seen someone crucified like this in the media in quite some time. Why are people always so worried about others' personal lives? I get that maybe he shouldn't have made certain things apparent while in public, but the fallout of that is absolutely absurd!

I think for Will, he can finally be the person he wanted to be for a long time. Himself. Not the picture perfect family friendly man that the media has painted him for so long (also sucking his soul and identity away) it’s sucks to see him go down in such a way. But he’s done enough to millions of people in putting smiles in people’s faces for decades and it’s time for him to really focus on himself and his family (well… the part of family that actually still supports him)
@Hoodeeman
@Hoodeeman 6 месяцев назад
He curated that image for himself. He wanted to be seen in that manner to be able to play the roles in Hollywood big blockster movies. You have to have a squeaky clean family friendly, family oriented man, or at least project that to the public if you want to be in the upper echelons of Hollywood while also being black, especially in the 90s. We don't know this man at all. But we all had an image of him that fell to pieces. He even talked about it in his book (his carefully crafted image).

thank you for commenting this. He is and will ALWAYS be a legend and the reason i say this is cause he's been an actor so many of us have grown up watching. he's made us all laugh and even cry with his amazing acting skills. it clearly comes from a place of deep insecurity that he harboured all the way back when he was 15 and got cheated on. yes, he shouldn't have got on that stage and punched Chris, but at the end of the day, he's never ever done anything like that in the history of his career, and we've forgiven so many other actors and singers who have repeatedly been aggressive or straight up violent. He's forgiven in my book anyway

Will Smith wanted to be different from so many of the fake gangsta rap stars of his day, including Pac. Will was from the hood but decided to present a more positive image and stay away from most hood topics and try to create a better alternative to what so many other rappers had done - in hindsight the gangsta rap personas ended up causing a lot of damage to a lot of communities. Who would’ve guessed a bunch of wannabes and posers selling stuff to kids in the suburbs that honestly never knew a black person and knew little to nothing about other races and cultures could be so harmful. But because of this there were a ton of people who wanted Will to fail; Will wanted to be a positive black role model from the streets, he rose up from poverty and stayed positive and kept working to get ahead, and his mindset and happy attitude probably ate away at so many people who wanted to tear him down.

Whatever has gone on in recent years no one can take away the man’s talent, dedication and work ethic. The Fresh Prince has been shown across the world to several generations and He and Jazzy Jeff are solidified in Hip Hop culture. Unfortunately his reputation has been sullied by those around him putting his private life on blast and why he did that ‘entanglement’ Red Table Talk I’ll never understand but the public are fickle and people will move on. The rumours about his sexuality has been around since he did Six Degrees of Separation. The way his ‘friend’/ex-assistant demeaned him in such a derogatory way referencing the size of his manhood and exactly what him and Duane were supposedly doing has most people side eyeing and questioning the integrity and motives of his so called ‘friend’ more than Will’s sexuality. Personally I think Will has put in the work that he will be able to withstand this latest attempt at humiliation.

Yes, that’s exactly right. I don’t know if you ever watched the video interview of DJ Jazzy Jeff giving his thoughts on the subject, but basically what he said was Will has to protect at all costs! After the situation between the domestic dispute between his parents… he’s been protecting every woman in his life
@EliteBlackSash

Can’t help but thinking what the story would be if Will had a wife like Pauletta Washington. Denzel talks about the ways his wife supported him through the toughest of internal battles. But, more importantly, the way younger actors and actresses speak about their household and how they have supported others when they were living in their car and just struggling to make it. The importance of strong family and a solid unshakeable support system becomes obvious. I see the same in Kanye post- his mother passing. I think Will would be even BIGGER and even MORE successful, and more importantly… much happier.

Agreed, it didn’t the exact opposite! From what I understand, the only thing that ruined his life was that hag that he married. Will Smith didn't 'come from the rough streets of Philly'. He grew up in Wynnefield with an engineer and a school board administrator as parents and also went to a Catholic private school. Not saying that he's had no experience with the streets but he was far removed from the life of those that grow up in the rough streets of Philly. I think people believe that because he plays himself in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air but the story is actually based on the life of Benny Medina who grew up in the rough streets of East L.A. and later moved in with a family in Beverly Hills.

I dont get why this stuff is happening to him from the outside looking at what his career showed us i thought he was happy and a good man. I hope he heals and finds true love and happiness cause though he and jada have there partnership i dont think it is the type of love and affection he needs to be able to heal his aoul and find himself. If they are truely separated that may be for the best. I would lovw for him to become his true self and not have to live up to an image anymore. Jada Smith should be ashamed of herself pointing the finger at the industry for her and Will Smith cancellation, it goes deeper than the reasons why the two were dropped from major studios… my book Enslavem’ was used as the template to Emancipation without my permission which was produced by Will and Jada's production company Westbrook inc. I was not compensated nor credited and told by their peoples I wouldn’t WIN my case because Will was too BIG…no pun intended. The up side is there is something greater for me in the future in terms of creating even better works of art than what was taken from me in the first place, however the only blessing for me is a WIN in the court room!

He took the bag so did it ruin his life. If anything he wouldnt be the celeb he bacame and had the opportunities he had without the show. He ruined his life. Everyone knows what Hollywood is like so celebs should know whats going on.

Will's legacy is solidified. I refuse to let jada or a chris rock slap diminish that.thats not what real ones do because at the end of the day, no one is perfect. Not even a lil bit.

The guidelines have gotten stricter on RU-vid. U can’t say certain words on RU-vid or the channel gets demonetized

I think a lot of yall dont k ow bout six degress or seven degress. A gay role will smith plays. I started watching it simply because i saw he was in the movie. Couldnt see him in the same light after that. Also a heterosexual would never accept a role like that. So im not even suprised at the accusations.
