A 29-year-old personal trainer and server living in Long Beach, California with an income of $60,000 shows us what everything in her life costs. Still haven’t subscribed to Glamour on RU-vid? ►► bit.ly/2gYlQqe
Mathematically, this makes absolutely no sense to me. Her expenses are over $5,000 per month. Her lifestyle seems to exceed what she claims she is making.
I was thinking that, but she made it a point to note all the other expenses she and her boyfriend split. I don’t know 🤷♀️. If her and her boyfriend split up, she’s screwed. There is no way she can maintain anything resembling that lifestyle without her boyfriend. That’s really scary to me. I hope their relationship works out.
her "gym" doesnt have much stuff in it. looks like mostly dumbells. im sure the other gym has a lot more amenities and can possibly train clients in those gyms too.
She also said she spends more on clothes for him than her and that it’s important for him to be dressed nicely. Call me frugal but I personally think 3 year olds should be wearing mostly second hand clothing. I mean, they get like 1-2 wears out of most items. The amount she spends on his clothes monthly is insane, he’s 3! I understand he’s a growing boy which is why you probably should find deals and sales if second hand clothing isn’t what someone is into because I understand not everyone is into that thing. I feel like her priorities are backwards and she could be saving so much money by the smallest changes.
But that's the thing, he is a toddler who gets messy and grows out of everything quickly. So seeing a cat&jack logo, let's say she went to target because he needs a new pair of shoes (~$20-30) a couple of new pants (~30-40) a pack of sock ($5) and a few shirts (~$15-25) she's easily spending $100 in just one visit. As a mom of 2, I can attest to how costly these little munchkins are.
Woah. That’s a lot of expenses for that level of income. She really must not be saving much, if anything, but she’s somehow managing to stay afloat! -Akeiva
She's overspending all the time. That's why she has all that credit card debt. I think her boyfriend only splits the rent with her but not the childcare costs.
This doesn’t make sense financially. Unless her boyfriend splits all the bills with her or she doesn’t pay taxes out of her income there is no way she can afford $5k+ in bills a month...do the math.
Anastaciacl18 actually she only said they split rent and gym rent costs. Childcare, food and her monthly’s she never mentioned splitting. But who knows, she is obviously doing ok and I’m sure these videos don’t give you the entire lowdown.
kids grow fast there is no point in spending a lot of money on clothes if they will just grow out of them. She is also a personal trainer(i think that's what it was) and she probably uses those leggings all the time.
Seriously getting my kids clothes at goodwill least for first several years. I got 5 NICE pieces of baby clothes for my friends there for $10! And you can always wash them first before use so why not?
Probably they had private clients at that gym that they service while not being employed by that gym. On the down low. Or maybe it’s a gym that has spin, aerobics, or a pool. Guess only.
She is a personal trainer, the 10 dollar Forever 21 leggings probably won't hold up in the long run. Also getting good pillows makes a big difference when you sleep. I paid 40 bucks for my pillow and I am a college student, working a minimum wage job.
That's actually really good. For those who don't even want a kid, they shouldn't have one. But people usually aren't careful so they get pregnant and neglect their kid -.-" I respect that you know yourself enough to not bring another human into this world just for the sake of it.
I think it's actually selfless, considering that having a kid is the standard, those that don't have kids are not meeting society's standard. So to say "I don't actually want a kid so I'm not going to have one" even if society makes it seem like it gives everybody meaning, is great. (But mostly its selfless because the earth is dying and overpopulation is a thing)
I did the math, 60,000 a year comes to 5000 a month income. all together, including her yearly expenses averaged out every month she spends 6,490 per month. I am having trouble understanding how she is paying off debt while being 1,490 over her means per month...
Just saying, I've lived in LB for 5 years and a lot of people live like her. Dual incomes and almost every penny is going to something. It's a lovely/fun lifestyle but definitely not sustainable. My bf and I had to move away because we just couldn't keep up with our friends
I think I'd like a mix. Maybe reading the list, but just showing us their house without the person in it. Like in this one, I liked seeing the son's room and the kitchen, to get an idea. But I agree with you. Seemed like a commercial or a short docu.
This math doesn’t really add up & im really confused on why she has two different credit cards... one that’s she still owes 8,500 and another she uses regularly every month averaging 2,000 but pays it off every month? Why not focus on paying off the first credit card?? With those 2,000? Assuming she is probably paying the minimum or a little more she’s inquiring more interest & she gonna end of paying more at the end of the day... She probably needs to see an accountant or financial adviser bc I’m sure she’s not saving anything...
no cause usually you always see parents feeding their children junk food and cereal and sugar-infested foods so they stop whining @@savannahcanfield7134
Those numbers don't add up at all, this has to be 60k after taxes and even then with all of those expenses I don't see room for any savings -- she didn't mention any so maybe she is not putting any money away?
This series is sooo great it really helps you to understand money better with a emphasis on balance. I love it theres no stigma surrounding money with these video. Many people are interested in learning more but don't know where to find entertaining resources so this helps with that. It's cute but you also learn something !
I'm sorry, but only $6,000 in student loans??? I'm jealous! Also, she wouldn't be able to afford any of this without a partner. I want to see a girl SLAY her OWN bills making a realistic wage!
"I want to see a girl SLAY her OWN bills making a realistic wage!" - The lifestyle most women aspire to isn't possible without a man supplementing income. This video is an example.
Her expenses are tooo tooo high for her income..i wanted to stop after she said they split rent 50/50..i might n too old school..i couldn't even finish watching
@@marymary4144 so u must have some inside knowledge..otherwise you're making a lot of baseless assumptions since she did not mention parents..baby daddies.or baby daddies parents paying anything...if u think this breakdown is decent u may ALSO be living outside of your means.
Khan Academy has videos like these, but they actually interview people willing to share their salaries, education, budget, goals and how they got into their career.
It depends on how long they go. My daughter's is free but only for 3 hours a day. If I needed what's called "wrap around" it's $105 a week and I live in a very small town in NW Florida. I'm sure extended daycare is insane in southern California.
She is actually getting a bargain on childcare. The kid is only 3 years old, and isn’t going to be getting free schooling for a while. Most places in the Bay Area charge double $800
Although I admire her for following her dreams but let’s be honest here she gonna be 30 soon and that acting career really just doesn’t sound realistic anymore. If she keeps running around Cali trying to chase an acting gig she’s gonna dig herself into major debt
Why are you trashing this women, she works hard, providers for her son and wants to follow her dreams, but she can’t bc she’s 30? I didn’t realize there was a cap on what age people could pursue there dreams!
Brianna Ann not once did I trash her... all I’m saying is that she has a kid now and she needs to start more pursuing more realistic goals I mean she going around throwing money for headshots when he could’ve put it towards her sons saving.
She doesn’t like spending too much money on her clothing but spend a lot of her son’s. But she owns a $110 yoga pants while the son’s t-shirt is $10... the logic
yeah, you realize that buying expensive clothes for your growing kid isn't very economical, right? And who knows, even the clothes that he has now might not even fit him in 3 months
No need to be so judgmental. Her child is going to be growing constantly whereas she would rather buy quality clothing that last longer especially if it’s focused on her career. I wouldn’t want to wear bad quality yoga pants if I was a fitness instructor?
i totally get that. But she shouldn’t say she doesn’t spend a lot of money on her clothing but her son then. Just saying her logic is questionable. Not trying to judge the way she spends money
well she probably does spend a lot of money on each item she buys for herself but doesn't have a lot of things. But for her son his items might be more affordable but she buys him a lot of clothes and often since he's constantly growing. So at the end it makes sense that her spending on her son's clothes ends up being more than her own.
That childcare cost is crazy high. In South Florida, $1000/month pays for fulltime care at a very high quality facility and she is paying $800 for just halftime :O
Her sons expenses are not going to decrease.. growing children require so much more money and it sucks telling your children you can’t afford certain things
I would like to know how much she's able to save each month. I'm glad she's pulled herself up but she can totally do better at paying off her debt and cutting down on her expenses.
Many people claim that 60000 dollars yearly income is on the lower-average end? Is that true? 60000 dollars (not euros) would be considered a bit higher than the average income in Germany. Especially for a 29 year old!
I love these videos! If you want to come to ATL I’ll show you how a low key struggling 28 year old HR assistant (with a masters degree who is looking for a better job BTW ) making a LOWLY $28000 a year spends her money 😭 PS I see kids are super expensive ! Smh I’ll probably be 33 before I have one lol.
That sounds horrible, I never even imagined. Here shops offer you new model of a phone for like 40 £ a month with technically unlimited data. And just sim usually doesn't go over 20£
Yo at 3 i got some new clothes but every if i was lucky three months i ate what my mom cooked as simple as that aint no $50 on my food 😒 i understand she wants the best for her son but she's doing the most
I would love to see a realistic version of these videos. Like people who are actually making ends meet with literally no money left at the end of the month. Or even people who dont come out each month
Maybe alot of this is like paid promotional stuff trying to convince lower income people that it's okay if they spend money on extravagant things... 110.00 leggings and all that honest kids stuff is just excessive... I grew up with my parents making a combined at least 200 k a year and they never splurged on things like that...
She makes 60k and her husband does the same thing she does so I’m assuming it makes around the same maybe about 40-60k so together they rack in 100,000k a year
For her and/or any actor who watches this: 1) If you are serious about your career, you are an ACTRESS. Not an "aspiring actress". Own it! 2) I hope she and every actor knows about the podcast "Audrey Helps Actors". Go. Now. 3) Yeah - confused as to why she pays a gym membership if she owns a gym, but maybe it's her happy place for some alone time.
Good for her. I earn like 8000€ a year. Living with parents, paying money for "rent" buy food and est together, and have like 700€ of savings in total. Because salary low, and price becomes high af
