Reading Starter Villain by John Scalzi was like Eating Cake for Dinner, thanks @vintagesf for the analogy. It was good while consuming it, but it left me intellectually malnourished...
So, this is my experience with Starter Villain. It’s a super easy read and a fun, if silly, book.
But, having finished it I was struck with a thought that my time spent reading it was no better than if I scrolled through TicTok for three hours. I guess not every book needs to have a meaningful message that will stay with you, but still, something was lacking here.
Books as pure escapism, and fun but with no literary merit or ideas. What do you think?
