I'm currently reading "It Ends with Knight" by Yasmin Angoe which is the third book in a trilogy. It's about an African assassin who be killing folks who threaten The Tribe of African Nations (I think I might've been one in my former life).

A male booktuber! Love this for the booktube community. Such a diverse stack of books. I love it! I really enjoyed Sula and Seven days in June as well. I felt the exact same way about A love song for Ricki Wilde. I gave it 5 stars as well. I need to pick up a S.A. Cosby book immediately.

But happy to hear how much impact it had for you. Re: 1984, I literally feel the same way - that book is SO ANNOYING to read but it is somehow also so good lol. I read quite a lot. I have a long commute and I enjoy reading during my commute. I also have reading as part of my bedtime ritual. I watch RU-vid though and feel like I must not be reading enough. I love that you emphasized that we all read at our own pace and with whatever time we can at our season of life. My TBR isn’t shrinking, but I will beat myself up less if I don’t get to ALL the books.

So often we get caught up in reading challenges, especially when seeing other people who read 100+ books a year. It can lead to feeling like we're not really "readers" if we aren't reading an outrageous number of books. But what's important is reading when it makes sense for you and going at your own pace! 19 books so far is a great place to be ❤

I put S.A. Cosby / Razorblade Tears on my list because of you :) I honestly haven't read a lot of books this year - I've been more able to keep up with audio books. Some recent books I really loved: Kim Jiyoung, born 1982 and the Good Girl's Guide to Murder trilogy (they're pretty popular but maybe you haven't read them yet)

I listened to the audio book of Razorblade Tears and it was impeccable. The voice actor brought the characters to life and I was obsessed with S.A.Cosby after this book.

I heard about S.A. Cosby here first. I’ve read Razorblade, Blacktop and All Sinners Bleed. I read All Sinners Bleed twice. Phenomenal! So glad I took Five’s advice. It is not my genre. What a voice! My Darkest Prayer is on my list.

Great selection of books! I love S.A. Cosby too! He knows how to pull the reader into the story and take them on a wild ride. His writing is raw, gritty, intense, and darkly atmospheric. His characters are good people who do bad things and you can’t help liking them. I recently read that Blacktop Wasteland and Razorblade Tears have been optioned for movies. I would love to see Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson play Ike and Buddy Lee ❤ Happy reading cousin! 🩷📚

I had Blacktop Wasteland in my potential reads but once I saw your review of it, I decided to go ahead to read it... BEST DECISION EVER! That book is so damn good! I felt like I was apart of the story! When I finished, I wanted to go back and start over!

If you want to get into more fantasy, I'd definitely recommend The Ballad of Perilous Graves! Also (not fantasy, but still) I'd also recommend Patsy! I'm not sure if you read any of those yet, but they're two of my personal faves 😊

seven days in june was one of my first 5 star reads 😭😭 you should read love and other words by christina lauren, the characters aren’t skin folk 😂 but it has a similar childhood to adulthood lovers storyline

I enjoyed hearing about the books you love! I teach HS English, and I'm always looking for books to recommend to my kids (11th graders). I'd like to recommend a book I put alongside 1984, but I like it better. Have you read Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451? It's about a world where owning books is illegal. I find Orwell yo be a dry writer, but I think Bradbury's much more engaging in his style. I can't wait to hear what else you read!

Sometimes, it's the person who is new to reading regularly that gives the best reviews. Toni creates atmosphere and causes you to think then you get to the point of what she wanted you to know. That's how I describe her anyway.
