Looking at how a Brass Diverter Valve works in a gas combi boiler. Roy From Viva Training Academy shows us how the diverter valve and hydroblock works in a gas boiler. Understanding how to repair a gas boiler.
This video helped me to understand why my 10year old Potterton Gold HE was banging sometimes. It was when radiator valves closed at certain temperatures. Ordered the motor head using the correct part number but the non- spring loaded type was supplied-This was the source of the problem. Sorted now, thanks for the free advice.
Hi Allen, thank you for this detailed video. Really helped me out! Many of these motors look fairly universal, not sure if you know but would this motor fit a Ariston HE series boiler? They all look extremely similar.
Hi Allen when I write the part no to find flow switch turbine type can't find all bobbing type can you please put link for turbine type to buy one Thank you
Hello, my question is the following: When the boiler is off, where is the three-way valve positioned towards the heating systems or the sanitary water? Thanks
Roy/Allen could I just ask the effects on water flow rates. Lets say if I were to put a larger or smaller plate to plate on a boiler. How would the boiler behave? I've never tried it myself, I'm just curious that's all, thanks 😉.
My boiler is pressurising itselve,I have changed the pressure or expansion vessel and the divert or valve cartridge also cleaned and flushed out the plate exchanger ,the pressure vessel is pumped up to 1 bar with air but the pressure still rises to 3bar and continually releases to via the external pipe. I have also removed the filling loop on the boiler and capped off pleased help before I go mad what do you thing is causing my problem Terry
Can’t believe this video is only 11 months old- thought it must have been from years back with the way you’re describing people as blokes who can’t read instructions etc. I love your content and find it so helpful but the world is changing and it’d be good to see you be more mindful of all the women who work in this industry. And not all the men who do this job are just ‘blokes who don’t read instructions’! Come on Allen and Roy- you’re better than that!!
Again, great video Roy. I may have missed it, but let's say that the hall-effect sensor is faulty/blocked, what might the symptoms be? Would you suggest giving things like these a quick rinse on a service every couple of years?
Hi David, Thanks for the feedback. If the hall effects sensor is blocked, the red led wouldn't light up. Hopefully soon we will do a video on a live boiler and I'll demonstrate what would happen and how to test it.
Roy, my 105 instant diverter valve is letting by in CH and pre heat mode, I overhauled the valve with a kit , but still lets by, any ideas pls, I descaled the Plate h/e and top up expansion vessel.
Hi, after gas safety engineer left the water wasn’t heating he came back and fiddled with some pipes under the boiler and then we had hot water. This happened twice! This year the radiators don’t heat up! They were ok until April and the safety engineer came in August… now it turns in for around 10-15 seconds and the boiler flame light turns off! I wonder if this time he has stopped s valve or something connected to the radiators? I’m a little suspicious that he charges the landlord every time he visits our flat. Please help!
Hi Allen I got Baxi 28E it that mean if my boiler are on then I turn my hot tap on the diverter stop run hot to my radiator? I just noticed the light on the boiler turn over to the hot tap if I run the hot tap.or you should see both light on(hot tap and the radiator light on)? Thank
Hi Yo, Yes when you turn a tap on the diverter moves to hot water and shuts off the central heating, once you turn the tap off if there is still a demand for central heating the diverter valve will move back over. With a combi you can only have hot water or heating on at one time not both together, that is why the radiator light goes off when you run the tap.
