I was making the mistake of shifting gears, but now I know better. Very clear explanation overall.

I still shift gears and have been riding my fluid trainer for years. In order to get harder resistance you must shift, which works along side the fly wheel in the fluid.

i just bought that exact trainer and so far love it,,,i notice that my old fluid trainers would take 15 minutes or so for the fluid to warm up to achieve resistance,,,this new one needs no warm up time

Thanks for this clear explanation ... Any way to maintain these and prevent squeaks if the bearings go out?

Los primeros 5 minutos son gratis, una ves que el rodillo levanta temperatura se empieza a sentir la resistencia, por uso general contiene un aceite ISO VG 46 dentro si es que necesitas cambiarlo alguna ves

very well explained thanks

Thanks for the explanation. I assume the way these work is the reason you don't have resistance level settings like the magnetic type has?

That is correct.

The fluid chamber is basically a wet clutch.

Have you ever pulled one of these apart? I had one fail, and Saris sent me a replacement unit, which was great of them. But I'd like to understand what failed and possibly fix the older unit and am looking for a video if anyone has one.

I have taken one apart and the problem is you cannot refill and properly seal it back up on your own. That's why they send you a new one.

@@ChrisEnockson thanks, I understand that. I am not needing to remove the fluid, so was hoping that there might be some way to fix the unit that did not require draining the fluid or cracking open the fluid holding side. The problem is on the flywheel side: the axel is not secure and it shifts under pressure. It has gouged away a lot of the black plastic and seems as if a bearing was not installed or something... I was hoping to pull the axel out and see but cannot find a way to get the flywheel off, even with the nut removed.

Can you alter the resistance on a fluid trainer to make it harder to pedal to simulate going up hills. I notice the magnetic trainers have a lever to alter resistance, do the fluid trainers have the same?
@ChrisEnockson

No they adjust automatically based on how hard you pedal.

Hello - thank you for your video very informative. Can you share the difference between a CycleOps Fluid2 Bike Trainer and your CycleOps JetFluid trainer? Thanks in advance- Yvonne

How do I connect my bike to it?
@cricketseeker

So it's basically like riding one speed? Can it simulate hills?
@ChrisEnockson
@ChrisEnockson 3 года назад
Not really designed to simulate hills it's just designed to mimic what regular road cycling does.

I guess what I'm wondering is...can you at least stand and peddle for a few seconds without spinning out?

What If you want high Cadence and Power Power ?
@ChrisEnockson

This video strictly discusses how the fluid trainer provides resistance. High cadence workouts can be done on a fluid trainer and there are fluid options available that offer power.
