Captain Montalvan received a number of honors for his time overseas. He received the Combat Action Badge, two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and the Army Commendation Medal of Valor amongst other merits. He was an honorable soldier that was consistently one of the hardest workers in his platoon.
After the war, Montalvan had difficulty readjusting to reality. But after enlisting in a program that paired army veterans with service dogs, Montalvan found a glimpse of hope. From the beginning he developed a special attachment to Tuesday and their relationship continued to grow and grow over the months that followed.
"Until Tuesday" is Luis Carlos Montalvan's New York Times best-selling book about his time in the army and his relationship with the golden retriever that saved him.
