Tuesday is more than a dog, he is his partner. People who think dogs are just animals don't understand the endless understanding and capabilities they have.

This brought both tears and a smile to my face. So happy these two found each other. Tuesday is such an amazing dog.

Unfortunately Luis Carlos passed away December 5, 2016 in El Paso Tx, from a heart condition. He was 43. My Admiration and Respect to him and Tuesday. Thank you all for serving our country.

Dogs are the best people ❤️

I've had many dogs in my life and at present share my life with a wonderful Golden Retriever who looks quite a lot like Tuesday, the dog in this video. There are many fine breeds of dog out there but there is no more loving, sweet-natured and gentle a dog than a Golden Retriever. As therapy or service dogs they are a natural and quite literally the 'Gold Standard' of love and affection. I've never yet seen an aggressive or belligerent member of the breed.

I am so humbled and grateful to our Vets. I am glad that these dogs are there with unconditional love. Luis and Tuesday, thank you and bless you!

I ordered this book from amazon and it arrived in the mail yesterday. I am really enjoying this book. I don't want to put it down! I love the way Luis describes how Tuesday was raised and trained to be a service dog. He is so descriptive. His bond to Tuesday and his love for him is very clear.

I'm all for this 1000%. As long as the dogs needs are met as well. To run...play...socialize. and not treated like a "emotional beast of burden ". I'm sure this is a great relationship it looks like. I just worry about the animal too....they are not an endless well of comfort and relief....they need things too. I sometimes worry that therapy dogs needs aren't being met like they should.

I miss my golden, Dallas, so very much. He might not have been trained and given the title of 'service dog,' but I believe he and all dogs provide their loving owners with spiritual renewal and healing for the disabilities we all have. This video made me think of him and miss him because he had that same loving look Tuesday has, and I can definitely relate to the gratitude this veteran has for his dog. I thank God for these loving animals and hope to see Dallas again someday.

Great Awesome Tuesday Service dogs Helps with disabilities PTSD back in action

I got this book for Christmas last year and it is honestly so amazing. Thank you Luis for sharing Tuesdays' and your story. :)

Thank you for your service and for unselfishly giving of your self. PTSD is a serious illness which effects everyone. Unfortunately a VA counselor hit the nail on the head when he stated the following, "Since the American Revolution, our Government has spent Billions of dollars perfecting how to take a civilian and train them into the perfect soldier. In the course of a few weeks they've managed to take an individual and train them to be vigilant, take orders, be observant, and how to fight. All the years or research and the billions of dollars spent has paid off. America has some of the best service men and women in the world. Unfortunately once they're discharged, they're not retrained and find it difficult to become a civilian again. Coupled with PTSD, and other issues, our returning Veterans are seriously having difficulty, as are their loved ones." Being a Navy Vet myself, I can definitely say having a service dog makes things a bit more bearable. Sharing your story I know is difficult for you. By doing so, you've let Veterans know it's ok to feel again and to be open. Thank you for sharing. Your an amazing individual as is Tuesday. Keep up the good work and thank you for your encouragement.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling sad. However, instead of feeling sad over what might happen in the distant future, perhaps we could focus on the now and the positive things that Tuesday is giving through his love and training.

From personal experience. Being in combat is a rush like you’ve never felt before and it’s addicting. But when that rush is absent it makes you realize what you were doing, and the calm lifestyle conflicts with the life you lead in the military.

I was never a dog person infact I didn't like dogs at all but one day my dad surprised me with a golden and ever since then my whole perspective changed about dogs and other things. My golden makes me laugh and smile like you wouldn't believe. So I can relate to what that guy was saying, goldens are the best dogs alive and mine is unbelievably amazing

Thank you for posting this video. I voluntarily raise future assistance dogs for Paws With a Cause in Michigan. My heart is warmed everytone I see something like this. As the puppy's foster raiser we don't always learn where our little pup ends up, what she was trained to do, or who she is helping.. Your video helped validate what I do, and encourages me to keep raising more of these wonderful dogs. God bless!

Heart warming story!

My story is extraordinarily similar to yours, apart from in the UK, I have found it impossible to find support in formally training Mishka, my Alaskan Malamute who has saved me from distress so many times. She has gave me the reason to live when I have not felt the same way.

This is an excellent video that introduces you to former Capt. Luis C. Montalvan and his service dog Tuesday. Together they have become a dynamic duo in advocacy and education about service dogs and much more. They have written an awesome book entitled “Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him.” Luis and Tuesday are excellent authors and speakers. I think you will love the heart of a warrior that Luis still exhibits and the beautiful countenance of Tuesday that speaks volumes. This book taught me much about PTSD and how to explain it and the effects of trauma. It was helpful to read of Luis’ heart concerning war from a front line warrior's perspective. The book takes you on a journey from war in a desert called Iraq to the deeply agonizing desert of despair and parched hopelessness experienced as a result of PTSD and other invisible disabilities, war, and others' lack of understanding. Although heartbreaking in sections, “Until Tuesday” is delightful, endearing, and humorous. It also eloquently articulates many invaluable lessons such as the devastation of betrayal and discrimination, the transforming power of unconditional love and acceptance and forgiveness, and how service dogs can radically improve the quality of the life of a veteran. The second book they have written is a children’s book entitled “Tuesday Tucks Me In.” It is written with ample sight words, blends, and easy short and long vowel words that can assist teachers and parents in helping their young reader learn to read and enjoy reading. I am a former elementary education teacher and suffer with invisible disabilities myself. I personally find “Tuesday Tucks Me In” very comforting and a gift to our world! I found “Until Tuesday” filled with extraordinary insight to issues that need to be addressed and understood better today. I believe it is changing history in our world!
