How a native plant garden brought wildlife to Karen Rawson's yard 

When the 2020 Derecho hit Karen Rawson's neighborhood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the trees that shaded her yard fell. In the months after the storm, she decided, despite not having a green thumb, she was going to transform her front lawn into a native plant garden.
