Great video. How do you bend your pvc pipe? What size pump do you use for your spa jet returns? Is there a way to use one variable speed pump with and plumbing in the spa the way you show in this video?
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy

You can use 1 vs pump and it will work but the Jets won't be quite as strong. Here is my video on bending pipe ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_edkuq8ecMc.html

No.... usually you can install a channel drain if you don't have enough room and it will still be safe. Here is a link hopefully you can copy and paste it. www.aquastarpoolproducts.com/ItemCatalog/32%22-Channel-Drain-Anti-Entrapment--Suction-Outlet-Cover-and-Frame

I saw your comment about the 50amp thing....I am wondering if I have enough power to run a spa? I am just starting to research spas so I don't know anything...but I do appreciate your videos.
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy 4 года назад
With 20 or 40 amps it is difficult enough to have enough power for a house let alone a pool or Spa. They do make spas that run on 20 amps that are above ground. I would suggest getting a few solar panels that would run a spa.
@jessicadanchik3420
@jessicadanchik3420 4 года назад
@@JohnThePoolExpertGuy yes its tough but once you learn what you can can't run its golden ;) haha most folks actually only have 4-8amps.... thats tough. So I want to build an inground spa a DIY hahaha.....If I added the solar panels do you think I could do it? Assuming I can find the right materials here. Also one other question (actually i have a million but I am sure you have a million other comments to reply to) what do you think my biggest size could be for my power situation? And do you know of any specific website i could go to to learn more about all this stuff? As of now I am just browsing everything and reading as much as I can but going from knowing nothing is a little challenging...."But all things are possible..." If I was in the states I could go talk with people at pool stores or something but, we don't have that here. Thanks again!!!

I would like to know where the Lasco jets are located. I removes a return eye ball in my spa and found the removable jet nozzle has somehow fallen off and was stuck in a return eyeball. This is a inground pool spa and I now get no air activity in the spa. I also can see water in the 2" air intake pipe at the pool equipment . What do you think?

lesliespool.com/waterway-gunite-venturi-tee-7-16in.-nozzle/364976.html This is a jet nozzle made by Waterway it should be interchangeable. Some plastic nozzles have 1/4 twist-lock make sure you pull out the original one and look at it before you order one. If all of the jet nozzles are in it should start to work properly. Also if you remove the eyeballs it will work even better.

Great video. Our pool guy didn’t tell us that our spa was his first. We have 8 jets but they are regular pool jets with a 2hp motor. We barely have any pressure coming out of the “jets” and there’s no air connection at all. Can we get a bigger motor? Would that help? Trying to determine if there’s anything we can do short of getting it completely replumbed.

You could put smaller eyeball fittings so you have more pressure at the jets... but without venturi jets you can never get the air bubbles.

Hey John, can spa light be reinstalled if spa light cord is stuck inside the conduit and pretty much done. Conduit is 150' away to junction box so no luck there, many tried. I want to add spa light in different direction with new conduit and separate connections. Partially demolishing spa seat, drill to make a new conduit and then replaster? or other alternatives? Thank you in advance !
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy 4 года назад
If you could get ahold of the original conduit closer to the spa it would be pretty easy to cut it and pull out the light and rerun the conduit closer. If that's not possible then you would have to bust a hole through the step and put everything new.
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy 4 года назад
By the way.....Were you able to pull out the ground wire that goes from the niche to the jbox?
@Spartan_0916
@Spartan_0916 4 года назад
John The Pool Expert bonding wire was pulled out from the spa side couple feet out then got stuck and they tried using 4x4 but it snapped pretty much right by the niche. They used fish tape from the junction box to grab on to the new spa light cord and fish tape also got stuck about 25’ deep. At this point human strength is not enough and nobody has tri pod rodder.. seems like something got mingled inside or sharp corner of conduit.. conduit goes around the pool covered with concrete along the way :/
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy 4 года назад
@@Spartan_0916 What I have found when pulling out old lights solid steady pressure will never do it. It needs to be pulled from the pool or Spa side and it usually needs quick hard jerks to get it to start sliding. Sometimes I will take the cord and wrap it around a sledgehammer and swing it away from the light niche. Sounds like you may be past the point of removal though.
@Spartan_0916
@Spartan_0916 4 года назад
John The Pool Expert yes, we have tried everything at this point. Im just blaming myself for even touching the old spa light cause it was working fine but it was there since 2001. My only option now is plug the old niche and make a new one with its own conduit and separate connection. Im guessing spa seating area can be busted and drilled then re plastered for new hole/niche?

Hey i have a spa that just got built and the plumber put 2 drains in the bottom with only one suction line from the spa, and one suction line from the pool and one and they both are connected with a t jandy valve, the issue im having is the spillway does not have enough power to spill nice unless i completlely close off the spa suction any possible way i can fix this? I can send you a pic of my plumbing it would really help me out brother!!
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy
@JohnThePoolExpertGuy Год назад
That is typically how It works. Normally the Spa suction is off unless in "spa mode" unless you have a completely separate set of equipment for your Spa. So for a decent spillway you need 100% pool suction and 100% spa return. For regular filtration I usually set it for 100% pool suction and 50 - 50 pool and spa return.
@jaxpoolboy
@jaxpoolboy Год назад
A spa main drain line should be closed unless in spa mode, make sure suction is only open to the pool, and then you should also have a Jandy valve that controls water back to the pool, you should be able to split the water between pool and spa. The other thing about spillways is they're often not constructed very great when it comes to efficient water shear. What is the spillway made of?Granite, tile, rocks?

John! Thanks for the video now I know what type of jet I have in my Spa and how it draws air and why it 20" away from the opening of my Spa. Q #1: I just need to buy that Lasco jet insert (jet only) where can I buy them? Not finding them on the internet. Could be looking at poor websites. Q #2: Those jets are made out of plastic. Guess what happened as I tried to remove a few of them, the head broke off. Drilled it out because there was debris behind the jet from a filter grid that came apart. I need now to remove the rest of the threaded part of the jet. By the way, I'm a diesel mechanic by trade so I have mechanic ability. Should I try to easy-out the plastic threaded part? I have tools and a snake camera. How about some advice? I don't want to Jack this up, thanks
