Have you always wondered how a turntable is actually built? Wonder no more. We took a trip to the Rega factory in Southend, where the special edition Record Store Day turntable is made, to see how the company builds the Planar 3 record player. We follow the complete process from start to finish, with many of the steps being done by hand.
What did you think of the Rega turntable factory? Let us know in the comments below!

I still have my Rega Planar 2 from 1986, it still works perfectly, no maintenance required after all these years.

Had my Rega 3 in white 2 years now & it is quality I'm every way, style, sound & quality. I recently had a top dj at my house & he did a double look at the deck & said he was liking that.

To me, if you're buying the P3, do so minus the cartridge, go spend a bit more for a better stylus coz it makes a big big difference when the sound goes through the phono pre amp. Orthophon, Audio Techica's and Sumiko's are generally the norms. I fancy Koetsu for a change. Big difference to if you listen from P3, P6 and the P8. It all depends on your budget. Generally Rega's are not that fussy in terms of amplifiers and speakers but care matching is crucial, hence auditions to listen to all components first would be wise. My Planar 3 from the 80's still works fine, sometimes swapping over with my Linn LP12. The evolution of graphite and carbon fibre has indeed played a significant role, especially for the toearms. Hats off to Rega who continue to churn out their classics!

I bought my first copy of what HiFi in 1978 when it was a serious read with in depth reviews, technical assessments and insightful editorials. Sadly it has become little more than a comic where items are considered 'talented', or presumably 'not talented', whatever that means. All gloss and ad's, little substance. Ah for the good old days ;).

Not impressed with fact you need to take belt off to change speed or dust blocks some cartridges.its good for sound but I won't buy another as I prefer my old ariston q deck

A whole lot of turntable for such little money. If you're not into bullshit audiofool crap an RP1 is the shit.

My p3 has 0.18 of wow after subplatter, spindle and belt upgrade. It was 0.24 before that. I've tested cheap Audio-Technica lp-60 and it had 0.14 out of the box. P3 has too much wow for a turntable of this price and don't wanna know how it got all those good reviews... If you're musician or someone with good ears, stay away and buy something else. You can get same or better sound for half the money.

Interesting but I'll never buy a Rega Turntable!! Seriously,..these horrible looking MDF plinths just look so darned cheap and plasticky and I'll always prefer the 'S' shaped tone arm. Can't wait for Technics to make some more models of their turntables with prices that most of us can afford. Would love their new SL1200GR but its out of my league financially but I'm prepared to wait rather than buy these horrible looking things from the likes of Rega and Pro-Ject. Just my personal thoughts and opinions.
@ENGLISHISBEST
@ENGLISHISBEST Год назад
Yes those dull grey plasticky looking technics that look like they still from the 1970's were good then. Those rega plinths look cool & do a superb job all round obviously research went into its design, just saying with my personal thoughts as I like listening to music & used a Technics but got rid.

My Technics deck has been in my shed for the past 3 years, nowhere near as good as Rega or Linn.
@Stringbean421
@Stringbean421 Год назад
@@tonyjedioftheforest1364 It's all down to personal taste in the end. Personally, I can't stand either Rega or Linn. I've always been a Techics person but as I said, it's all down to personal taste.
@tonyjedioftheforest1364
@tonyjedioftheforest1364 Год назад
@@Stringbean421 of course it is but I can personally say that I much prefer my Linn to anything else that I have heard in the last 50 years. Nothing wrong with Technics as a brand though, I have 3 of their amps, 4 of their cd players, 4 tuners and 2 cassette players. All sound great and have been very reliable but I just prefer the sound of British turntables.
