In case you dont know/didnt say in video: oil does not go down the drain. Some places offer "old-oil-bring-in-stations" to...literally bring in your old eg cooking oil. Otherwise use a paper towel to get rid of exess oil on pans etc before washing. It kills your drains and is horrible for the environment (so same goes for oil-based body scrubs etc)
Most grease trap cleaner only spray clean the trap never lay hands inside the trap, these guys clean the trap inside out with hands and tools, respect.
a "fatberg" is when liquified grease and similar chemicals are flushed into a sewer system and clump together and can weigh up to 90 TONS as was discovered in the sewer system in Liverpool England
Thank you to the workers who keep the world running who do jobs like this. Not everyone could do a job like this. I bet it stinks and I bet you go home greasy and smelling it. Not everyone would have the stomach for it.
Would love to know how they treat the grease collected afterwards. I love this kind of satisfying cleaning vid, but always wonder the next step.. after a problem has been handed over to the next party.. what's next
The oil is filtered from the grease. The oil goes into a large bin that gets picked up and recycled. The remaining bits (food, dirt, etc) gets thrown away. I worked at a large stadium and cleaned our fryers every week.
Okay, I would NEVER eat from a restaurant with this much grease, but the sad thing is, most restaurants are super dirty in the kitchen - we just don't see it...
I'm just thankful i don't have to do this or work in catering. I don't know how the grease-catcher works, but i know how a grease-monkey feels. Otherwise any work is good, i just joined the big resignation for now.
And one day if you do it long enough, you'll be so hardcore that you'll able to clean that grease out while snacking on a piece of pizza. I know because I had to clean sink traps once a week and eventually, you just get desensitized to it
Not many places accept grease. Dang. I wonder if they didnt mention using degreasers because its a obcious step taken or of the grease in the greas trappers is trapped in state that is consistently warm enough to just blast, vacuum, and scrub up without the need of degreasers
i just saw a video by drain pros and they didn't even have the courtesy to clean the grease trap, i mean i know it may seem like a redundancy after doing this enough but the customer will feel way better about the price you charged, i suppose it could be separately charged but is like cleaning your toilet but only the seat because it will get shitty again
Damm...what standards do you have in USA? :D :D Grease-trap should be cleaned once every 3 months? :D :D I've been working in few restaurants in the past. Grease-traps and kitchen canopies were cleaned every week...
I have to clean grease traps almost once a week and yes the smell can make you physically sick. Stay in school kids, don’t want to be cleaning grease traps for the rest of your life its foul and no human should have to do it
Someone's gotta do it, same as plumbers. The job can pay really well because no one else is going to the dirty work. Why else do plumbers charge $100+/hr? They absolutely deserve the paycheck.
Having spent many hours with my face in grease traps including 9000 liter ones from a slaughterhouse, it is certainly a funky smell. However my new job has me experience a new level of funky. That being working in a pet crematorium in which we also cremate horses. Having a horse "explode" on you after it has been laying dead in the summer heat in a ditch for a couple of days makes a grease trap smell like christmas and freshly mowed grass in one. Stay in school kids.
