The crazy thing is not really. Similar to what the video said, he was a great player but nothing screamed future NBA All-Star or anything, it is crazy cool that he took off so much.@@chromatch704
As a senior, he averaged 22.9 points, 6.2 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.7 blocks per game, leading Oshkosh North to a 26-1 record.@chromatch704
It's unheard of for someone from Oshkosh to reach this level of notoriety. Tyrese has done us proud, the kid is going to go far. Even though he beat my Bucks in the semi of the IST, I wouldn't want anyone else to.
i love that he's doing this in Indy too. A midwestern kid in a midwestern city. (I'm from Iowa btw and live in MN so always cheering for fellow midwesterners!)
He got the best scheme for his career when got trade from kings to pacers, he became the number one in his new team, the leader, got the ball more so the statistics got up. While kings get his big men they need.. A win-win for all
Great video bro! One of the absolute best feel-good stories of the NBA right now. One of the most underdog stories of the NBA we’ve seen in years representing a small market team that seems like a match made in heaven and he’s absolutely exploding. You can’t not love Tyrese!
Thank you so much! And I agree dude. You can just tell from his podcast interviews he’s a genuinely good guy. Love what he’s building in Indy. I see them winning the NBA cup
Telling from this story it looks like he's always had that NBA potential, and playing for Iowa State is actually respectable. Seems like the problem wasn't his talent but he just wasn't really visible and marketed enough until later in college.
I watched all of his games in the 1.5 years at Iowa State and you could tell INSTANTLY that he had freakish wingspan and insane elite court vision. He set the school record for assists in like his 7th game as a freshman which is crazy because Jamaal Tinsley won the Big 12 twice straight and Big 12 POTY as a playground wizard passing himself.
Yes. No one can say that the Kings made a bad decision even after more than a year removed from the trade. Both side won in this trade. But maybe the Kings could have traded De'Aaron Fox instead of Tyrese.
Lamelo is good, but the Hornets are not. They are currently 13th in the east. The Pacers are currently 5th. The East has good guards. The Celtics have Jrue, and the Bucks have Dame. The 76ers have Maxey, who is young, so I could see him battling Haliburton for years to come.
Tyrese is efficiency epitomized. His +/- ratio per 100 possessions has been positive every year he's been in the league and it gets better every year, currently +19. Lamelo's same +/- has been negative every year he's been in the league and he's regressed to a current -9. Winning teams don't have rivalries with losing teams.
Those teams fans are going to say “he wouldn’t have became a star on our team” or “he didn’t fit out team” This is what everybody do now, Everybody Say anything to cope and never admit wrong.
Another thing people don’t say about Ty being drafted by the kings and wanting to stay is that his high school basketball and gym coach actually played for the kings way back in the day. Never heard anyone else talk about that connection
That’s just straight up wrong. Watch the part within the first two minutes of the video where Tyrese himself says he was a 0 star recruit on Paul George’s podcast. ESPN slapped a 3 star label on him after he started in his second game freshman year. Where are you getting your information from?
I'm from the state that he played college in. It was well known he was a future lottery pick prospect before his final year of college. Despite his college team being terrible that year
@@Philly2tall before his final year yes, that was his second season at Iowa st. Which I mentioned in the video. But you said he was a top recruit and lottery pick before stepping foot in college. That’s incorrect lol. He got to play at the u19 Fiba World Cup, which I mentioned in video, and that’s where he started gaining lottery pick buzz, going into his sophomore season.
You can fall just as quickly as you rise and I'm hoping this doesn't happen to Haliburton. It would be so difficult to match or surpass a year like this or even sustain it for the year but so far we're seeing something so damn special and it's awesome.
What he's doing doesn't seem unsustainable. But I do agree. It's hard not to have that feeling that it will all unravel. For a small market like this its the best strategy. Put all the chips in and hope for the best. What is there to lose?
There are lots of talented players in the league. When you get one that seems most interested in winning, over fast cars and strip clubs……this is what you want.
Oshkosh was named for Menominee Chief Oshkosh, whose name meant "claw" (cf. Ojibwe oshkanzh, "the claw"). Although the fur trade attracted the first European settlers to the area as early as 1818
Halliburton is him nothing else to be said about this baller I still like Melo as being this best PG in the league only if his body would let him cook he was on a heater before the ankle injury
sure it was a good trade for both but Pacers got the best player. in hindsight the kings should've kept him and traded Fox instead, they could've gotten more than just Sabonis.
Well him and Fox didn’t click and Fox was ready established and ppl act like Fox isn’t better he’s a better scorer, much better defender and a winner not saying Hali won’t be better in a couple years but Fox was the right choice for them like Hali was the right choice for Indy
Oshkosh is not exactly a hotbed of basketball talent. This is why the European players get sent away to academies to play only the best and brightest. It is also why they make their mark early.
Can’t argue with the kings being the 3 seed last year and breaking the streak. However, Haliburton is on a different level than Sabonis. But I understand why they did it
@@hardwood_ytyeah hali is a better player im not gonna question you at all, BUT do you think both fox and hali would have developed into stars sharing the ball? I personally dont think so
Analytics crazy, computer love; get me some hardware, numbers don't mean a thing without the Ring. Dude has only four years under his belt, this newer generation has very low standards.
I’m from a farm in Iowa and my high school town had 2000. You’re right I don’t even remember saying that lolol 🤣 Oshkosh might as well have been LA to me growing up 🤣
Definitely the best PG in the league… but I prefer pure PGs… like when everybody liked D Rose, steph, or Russ I always considered John wall the best PG in the league or pure PG.. would consider the other guys more of a combo guard being more focused on scoring 🤷🏽♂️ love that Hali does it all and crazy efficiently 💪🔥 wasn’t sure his jumper and scoring would translate so well as quickly as it has… and definitely didn’t expect the playmaking and assists to be this good at all.. thought he’d be like a 6-8 assist per game type of player or get switched to SG if he stayed in SAC and play more off ball
He's a tier below superstar. Superstars must at least have a Championship or a memorable deep playoff run. Right now, Luka/Giannis/LeBron/KD/Steph/Tatum are in that echelon. Haliburton is for sure a franchise cornerstone, nonetheless. His time may come, but I'm not necessarily expecting it. In theory, I'd think of him as a high end complimentary player on a Championship caliber team, not the engine (Number One option) on a Championship caliber team.
@@psmith669 They're a star caliber player away from being a perennial Finals contender. I think that star player, whether they already have that player on their roster or not, will have to be better than Haliburton to win a Championship. Hard to win in this league w/ your PG as your best player. Stephen Curry, Isiah Thomas were the anomalies. & Even Steph could be taken out of that conversation because he's more of a Combo Guard than he is a PG.
You didn’t even watch the first two minutes of the video??? Tyrese himself says he was a zero star and then espn just slapped a 3 star on him once he started in his second game. Go watch him say it :) 1:18
Am I the only one who thinks he's overrated so much? Please don't blame me and hear me out. At first, I would say that he is a good player, like top 15 or 10 in the NBA right now, but everyone hypes him so much, saying he's a point god (actually, I did too at the beginning). Everyone that I talked to praised him so much. I didn't have any grievances, and I think he's very good, but around 80% of people forgot about his teammate. These guys praise him like he's the best point guard with 15 assists and 0 turnovers - that's crazy (it's actually crazy). But some assists didn't come from Haliburton's skill but from his teammate's skill (like some tough shots or clutch shots). I wouldn't say he's the best point guard in the NBA right now because there are Curry and Luka there. Why I think he's overrated is because people give him credit very much and forget how good the Pacers were (this doesn't mean that the Pacers would be good without Haliburton; I just want to say that Haliburton is good, but the Pacers are a good team too, and people give him credit so much and don't give other players credit). You all can give me some of your opinions, and stay positive because this is just my opinion.
Personally don’t think he’s overrated at all, he’s finally getting the fame he should be getting, and he’s just gonna keep getting better, how can you say he’s overrated with 12 assists per game shooting 44 percent from 3 point?
That Fox and Hali couldn’t coexist together and they were never going to both hit their ceilings together. It’s worked out, but I’m taking Tyrese every single time no matter what
