The performance of the POPESHIELD diffuser along with the Sony FE 70-200mm f4 Macro G OSS II Lens on the Sony A7Riii camera has been demonstrated in the video. This field test has been done during a macro walk in natural settings.

The radiant diffuser is an essential tool in macro photography, designed to soften and diffuse harsh light, creating a more even and flattering illumination for close-up subjects. This accessory typically consists of a translucent material stretched over a frame, allowing photographers to introduce a gentle and diffused quality of light to their macro scenes.
The radiant diffuser serves multiple purposes in macro photography. Firstly, it helps eliminate harsh shadows and reduces the intensity of highlights, preventing overexposure in intricate details. This is particularly beneficial when capturing small subjects, such as flowers or insects, where a soft, even light can reveal delicate textures and colors.
Additionally, the diffuser aids in achieving a pleasing and natural look by spreading the light source evenly. This is crucial in macro photography, where subtle nuances in lighting can significantly impact the overall aesthetic of the image. The diffusion of light also contributes to a more gradual transition between highlights and shadows, enhancing the three-dimensional appearance of the subject.
Photographers often position the radiant diffuser between the light source, such as the sun or a flash, and the macro subject. This placement softens the incoming light, reducing the contrast and creating a more forgiving environment for capturing intricate details without harsh reflections or glare.
In summary, the radiant diffuser is an indispensable tool for macro photographers, allowing them to manipulate and control the quality of light, resulting in visually appealing and well-lit close-up images.

Thanks for sharing - I have been curious about the popeshield for some time - as you mention in another comment you prefer your own DIY that is helpful to know, look forward to your analysis video explaining maybe why - I still use a simple pop up diffuser, but should try making a DIY like you showed in your previous videos

Hi, Brian, thanks for your thoughtful comment. You should also try to make a small your won DIY radiant diffuser. It is very simple and easy.

I purchased one of the origin models that came out before the magnetic holder. To make it more workable I purchased a cheap polariser, knocked out the glass and screwed the pope shield into the polariser. I then had something that had a proper thread to mount to the camera, and it was rotatable to try and get in the best position to avoid getting in the way of folage. In the end I found it too wide and stuck out the front a bit to much making it too hard to use in tight spots. Plus it lost a lot of light if you dont have a rear reflector I may cut it down at some stage, but have since moved on to other diffusers. It would probably be good in open situations as the diffuser material is very good.

Mark, thanks for your analytical reply on the popeshield diffuser. I have another magnetic ring of 55 mm to fit on my Sony 50 mm macro lens, but because of its wide size, I could not use it. It is ok with my 70-200 lens because I can take pictures from a long distance, compared with other macro lenses. But in the end, I do prefer my own DIY radiant diffusers.

I just ordered a Popeshield. You are using a huge lens! I would have a hard time manipulating it. Wonder why you aren't using a smaller lense that might not be so intimidating to your subjects.

Mr. Fiedler, thanks for your interest in my video. I have other smaller macro lenses and will be sharing my experiences with Popeshield diffuser very soon.

How did the background of the picture become so black sir?

Hi Mat, nice to here from you again. There are several reasons of black background. Shooting at f8 and above created black background, if the space is empty. And second reason, the items at the background should not have sufficient light to reach into sensor. Finally, shooting at low ambient light situation or at night. finally, you will need little editing in the Lightroom or Photoshop.
