All methods are a little different from each other. I would be really stupid to comment on any other method if I didn’t know exactly how it works. That’s why I remove all comments about right and wrong.
Online lesson are now a possibility on Skillest: skillest.com/a...
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of legends that are often misunderstood.
We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV. Be careful when you watch a golf swing in slow motion. The result isn't always what the golfer is trying to do. Feel and real are seldom the same.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway, Pete Cowen and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

Thanks for saying this Marcus. I´ve been golfing for over 30 years and I´ve never been consistent. The reason is that I kept chasing various forms of the golf swing and it all got confused and contradictory. I have been amazed at golf commentators on TV because sometimes they say just the opposite of what another had said. So, I´ve come to the conclusion that you have to stick with just one method and fortunately yours is the easiest on my body. The "body rotation swing" would have me walking off the practice range with sore hips and sore knees, or worse severe back pain. Your method of swinging eliminates that and I'm glad I've found your channel. Thanks for sharing, I'm sticking with your ideas because I'm 64 years old and I what to play into my 80s.

@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad I am also 64 and have become a lot more consistent since listening to you. I had a bad fade/slice and was in the mid-high 90s. Since I started listening to you this year I'm now playing off 12 and, apart from the odd slip, I'm either drawing or hitting reasonably straight, and managing most of the time to finish the day with the same ball I started with. Many thanks, Marcus.

It's refreshing to have found a YT channel that gives you the feeling that you're in the process of learning something that actually works. I only started golf 5 years ago, have a 12 HCP and have never really been happy with the way I play and the way I was taught golf. Pros focus too much on the “raw model”, but 90% of amateur golfers are not like that. We don't have the body for it, nor do we stand on the range or at the field for 8-10 hours a day because it's not our job. That's why I like your channel so much, because it's simply different and makes me feel like I'm understood - without us knowing each other personally. For me it is a method that gives me the feeling of being able to play golf with my body, adapting the swing to my capabilities and somewhat understanding what I am doing and why I am doing it. Too often, pros have told me that I have to “turn” more, “rotate” more, “shift weight” more, more this and more that, without being able to explain to me why this is so and what it means for me, my body and my physical abilities. Unfortunately, it's quite a long way to Sweden, but I wouldn't hesitate to come to you to immerse myself in your world of the way you teach golf and pick up the essentials for myself. Thanks Marcus!

@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad I've been looking for a long time for someone whose method I can "understand". It's not about your native language, it's simply about whether what you hear resonates with you and you can implement it. This is the case with you and when I think about it while walking, your approach is the right one for me personally - it may be different for others. I always had a strange feeling when I started playing golf. Basically I'm left-handed, but I play golf on my right. I throw and catch balls or play soccer on the left, but tennis and squash on the right. You can imagine what's going on in my brain. I was always too quick with my hips, which always resulted in a slice that slowly became a fade and often ended in a hook. The reasons why this is the case have only become clear to me since I watched your videos and began to understand why this is the case. Since I've been following and trying out your ideas and methods, I've had the feeling that I don't have to think about how and whether I'll hit the ball, but rather my focus is now "in which direction do I want to play the ball". Thank you for your commitment and this channel, which opens my eyes and others' eyes and allows us to have more fun with this great sport. Ultimately, training on the range has become much more satisfying because you can actually take the results with you onto the course.

Great video! I've learned a lot: "Flip the right hand early for great drives. Bend, extend arm. Swing out and up, not to the target, Practice in the sand to improve contact. Swing on one side of your body. Pressure shaft away from you to begin downswing (this one I wish you'd talk about more, especially how to do this and still get right palm to hit down on ball). Practice wrong to do it right. Tee it high." I look forward to continuing to practice these and more, it is not automatic but I'm hoping things come together. Your channel is a hidden treasure! Thanks again!

My friend, I’m 55 and retired, but I spent many years instructing. And, I was pretty damn good. You Sir, however, are the best I’ve ever seen! Excellent presentation on a subject that confuses most every golfer. We’ll all work harder to ‘do’ your swing, mate. Nearly 300 yards with a 5 wood is bloody impressive, but I appreciate you’ve worked hard with speed training.. not in my wheelhouse 😂 240’d be great. Getting there. Thanks for your help so far, and looking forward to 2024. Glad you don’t respond or let keyboard tools get you down. 35+ years and now I finally know what to do. And, just as importantly, why the shot was bad. Your friend, Jacko

Hi Marcus - I have found your style of teaching easy to understand ( not that I found it easy to consistently swing from the inside ) and body friendly. I have played golf since I was a kid ( 50 years ) actually changing my swing over the years to compensate for the many injuries that I have sustained. I just watched a breakdown of the swing of the amazing young amateur Nick Dunlap who just won a PGA event. Sadly my guess is that the enormous side bending that he incorporates will eventually lead to the nemesis of back injuries that most golfers using that style will sustain. I hope not. By pushing and not pulling I have become very consistent and "long enough" for my 74 years. Thanks for all that you do.

I went for some help to my local pro who i know and is a good guy , during my warm up i was flushing my pitching wedge , ball first, fully compressed, on the number one after another . My instructor noticed my hands are little close to my body at address and proceeded to spend an hour trying to get me to address the ball from further away , the best i could manage from that position was a weak toppy hook . No driver swings made , nothing learnt , just fifty quid lighter . I dont give a monkeys uncle what john jacobs says i hit the ball from where i can hit the ball . The only clubs that trouble me are woods and regardless of what jack said it is not the same swing . You have helped me no end marcus and it appreciated , keep doing you .

I'm a mix and match student. I've ascribed to the body swing method for the last few years and believe in it. To me, it establishes a very good foundation for a golf swing. However, that method leaves something to be desired when it comes to use of the hands. The body swing method says the hands will take care of themselves if the lower body is driven and the arms are kept loose - and it does if I'm able to do so mentally on a consistent basis. But the fact of the matter is that most of us who began golfing as adults simply can't turn our hands and arms all the way off most of the time. Which in turn results in inconsistencies in swings even though I feel I'm doing the body swing correctly. This is where Marcus's instruction rounds it out. He teaches and demonstrates that it is beneficial to use the arms and hands. The circle of speed is an absolute revelation to me and helps tremendously. So now, I turn my body as I should but utilize some of Marcus's instruction to deal with my hands. My golf swing is more consistent because I chose what to use from different instructors. Thank you, Marcus.

There’s so many “systems “ out there to move the ball and they all work for some but not for all Unless the golfer takes the time to really work on learning and understanding the method then they will never come to the conclusion that the method they’re trying is the one that fits them It takes time and patience with practice to find out things I’ve enjoyed adding your swing mythology to my system I use and have found out some of it works but not all and that’s ok You do a great job sharing your method that works for you I just wish the keyboard trolls would take the time to understand and really try to find out if it fits them Well said Big Swede 👍⛳️👍

I started playing golf at 35 and didn't know anything about the golf swing. However, I was a decent ball striker and played reasonably well. Then I started learning everything I could from many different instructors. My swing became complicated and very mechanical and my ball striking deteriorated. I'm 65 now and haven't played in 5 years due to a back injury. Marcus, I must say much of your methods are similar to how I used to swing the golf club. I'm going back to play golf again. I'm only hitting wedges at the moment, but your teaching methods feel so natural to me. Many thanks my friend!!

Some time ago I quit playing golf because of arthritis. During that time I watched quite a bit of golf instruction on youtube. I set up an area in my house where I could hit little chip shots. I am sure I hit tens of thousands of chip shots during the year I was not playing golf. For a lot of years before I quit I had slipped into the "hit the ball with body rotation" type of swing. After watching many of your videos my chip shots completely changed. I could tell I had power and accuracy that I had not had for about 15 years even though I was only hitting ten foot chip shots. I played a round of golf about a month ago and played very good golf. Thanks Marcus.

Most of these instructors are what I call the flat bellies,,, I ask them.. we’ll, if you can’t rotate as fast as Them, you don’t have their flexibility, how does that work for you? It just doesn’t. Releasing to early can get you in trouble with irons but not the driver. To make this work we also need to swing from the inside. It's all about finding the pieces we need to complete our puzzle we call swing.

I still watch some other internet instructors, but have noticed a migration towards less aggressive body turn with greater focus on faster arm and hand action. Bottom line is that it is incumbent on the individual to integrate body rotation with arm swing and hand action to create the most efficient golf swing possible. If it isn’t working, I bet Marcus can do an online lesson to help out.

This is wonderful. Very thought provoking. It helped clarify a lot for me. I think that overall your instructions are very clear, complete and consistent. I believe I have gained a good understanding of the intent as well as the method and over the last few weeks I have started to apply them. Gradually for the first time I feel like I am developing a feel for clubface and release control (although still much to be done!). Interestingly, now with this knowledge I can see and appreciate the differences in the approaches of other instructors and furthermore understand the limitations of their methods and in most cases why they will not work for me. Before finding your channel I was of the mindset that everyone was more or less teaching the same thing, although many inconsistencies were evident (even sometimes within the same channel) which confused me greatly. Happily, you have resolved that conflict for me. Many thanks, 😊

I'm 57 years old, 21.6 WHS and played my first holes today. So, I get 24 shots at this course for a full round. Played it once years ago. Due to the weather in the UK only 12 holes were open. Played the 12 and was 10 over gross. I take that as a huge step forward! Thank you for your unique approach.

Mr. Edblad, This is an excellent video. I don't use your golf method because I couldn't get it to work for me. That doesn't mean that I think you are wrong, in fact on the contrary I loved how it felt and wish I could have gotten it to work (mostly failed due to being impatient and hung in a cycle of youtube instruction). After trying your technique and failing I am even more convinced that your method not only works but is a great way to do it. I have been able to get out of the funk a little with just playing more golf. I agree there are lots of ways to do this thing, some work for one and not others. And some of us just don't give it a chance to work.

A very refreshing and honest analysis! I have been trying your method for some time now and I can say it has transformed my driver swing, I've even delofted it and teed higher, thanks to the low point being back. I can't hit it super far but mostly get a high draw that is CONSISTENT. The irons, though, are another matter. Trying to swing from inside and get low point forward just doesn't work, I get all out of balance and fat it, very high and no distance. But I started to swing a little more neutral and that has helped and even compressing some shots. It's pretty straight, so that's good. I'm ashamed to say for me, I had to add a little mix and match!😮

As a 70 year old golfer with limited mobility I appreciate your channel very much. I do have one question. I think it's important to have realistic goals based on your condition, age, etc. Do you agree and what do you think is a realistic driver yardage for a 70 year old player? I'm able to drive it about 215-220 yards. Doesn't make much sense to strive for something unachievable, right? Better off concentrating on the short game maybe. I'd love to drive it further and keep pace with my younger playing partners, but not sure that will ever be in the cards for me.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад
Hi Jim. It's impossible to say how driving and age is related. I have thirty year old boys that can't hit it past 200 and a friend of mine is 77 and he regularly hit it 280. It's mostly about practice history and the condition of the body. I also see that anyone can regain speed and distance regardless of age as long as the body can stay injury free. Just keep going. 💪

I guess the method tally to your characteristics is one thing but where I struggle is understanding what I am really doing compared to what I feel. In my case I have been even really confused by different video and instructors. Watching this channel made me feel I saw the light at the end of the tunnel …I improved and this method gave me a purpose but after few weeks I felt something from my side was not there …the problem is maybe I do not like to take video of myself and rely to much on what I feel ..I went to one of the pro in my club and I explained him what I was trying to do driven by this channel and he had no issue with that but when he looked at me he point out that my main issue is that with in my back swing my hips do not rotate at all and this put me in a position where especially with long clubs it is basically impossible to hit in to out. Actually this make sense to me and if I look at Marcus his hips rotate, it might be a consequence of other thing and not necessarily you push them but long story short I think I need to rotate in such a way the at the top of my back swing my hips have to rotate to create the space for the “circle of speed”. I will work on that and see if I can improve ….
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад
That's why I call it a circle. Don't say it's impossible. Your body is no different but you haven't succeeded in programming your self to do it in the right order. If you stand with a club in your hand you can swing in to out or out to in but when you try to hit the ball you do as you have done thousands of times before. Changing a habit is hard but we can all do it. I spent month trying to do this before I one day just did it over and over and over again. Finally my brain had figured out what to tell my body to get it to move the way I wanted it to move. I think this video is the one you should focus on and really understand: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AeUZj7MobdA.htmlsi=1aWH2qAGgKCy309w

Hello Marcus. I have found you thanks to Chad from Golf Test Dummy. I’ve found your approach to be refreshing and positive and I look forward to beginning my journey with you. A quick equipment question if I may. In one of the weekly videos Chad made reviewing your methodology, he mentioned that you use a Regular Flex in your woods (or at least driver). I also know that during the winter you like to work on your swing speed which is into the triple digits. Normally this would overload a Regular Flex shaft, but obviously it works for you. My question is this. I’m wanting to purchase a new driver and fairway woods. As I embark on this journey of discovery with you, should I look at getting the most flexible shaft possible? My current SS is in the mid-90’s, but I did purchase the Stack System and intend on working with that. Thanks for any insight you may provide and I can’t wait to look over all your old videos and work towards “catching up” to you in the present one day.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад
Chad is telling the truth, I use a regular flex. I have never overloaded any shaft. I use lady flex in my favorite 3-wood. The fastest guy in the world, Kyle Berkshire use a regular flex with a swing speed of 150+ mph. With good timing you can use a more flexible shaft and gain speed.

@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Thank you so much for much for such a prompt reply. I am looking for a swing that is back friendly and I believe that is what yours is, and your answer confirms it. Two more questions if I may (I apologize). What about the shaft weight. Should I pursue the most flex AND the lightest (for example 50+ grams in the driver, and fairway woods). Finally, what should I look for in my irons? Thanks again for your attention.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад

@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad A slice is one thing I’ve never fought. My biggest current swing fault is early extension which leads to flipping that results in pull hooks. Golf is a crazy game and that is why nobody can play the game since instruction is all right and all wrong, at the same time. The body has an incredible amount of limitations when it comes to the golf swing, so everybody has to come to an understanding how their body works best with a golf club; all 14 of them. People do not take the time to understand, so its fun to jump in the cart and lose a lot of balls. I have a group where guys come to fisticuffs because they have not been given a 2 foot putt, its a joke what transpires that does not even involve hitting the ball, its a royal conference of angry men to decide what tee box to play; then when that is decided a guy or 2 will refuse to play the money game, so strokes have to be given to assuage the pain.

Good video that explains a lot of golf instruction that is out there. However, every golfer must swing a golf club that is essentially the same for everybody. That means that if the golfer is going to hit solid golf shots that go at the target there has to be more similarities than differences in how it is done. It is the similarities that we are after. Also, even though golfers can find some way to hit a golf ball and get it going at least somewhat at the target, golfers are always looking for the best way to do that.
