How does ADHD impact relationships? How can you manage this impact? How can the family cope with the difficult behaviors of the partner with ADHD?
Melissa Orlov provides the resources and tools needed to create relationships that meet the needs of both ADHD and non-ADHD partners so they can improve the dynamics of the whole family.
ADHD and non-ADHD people can be quite different-in physiology, how they are in the world, problem-solving, backgrounds, skill sets, and much more.
Plus, there are ADHD symptoms and non-ADHD reactions to those symptoms. With all these differences it can be hard to feel heard and valued within family relationships.
She’ll answer questions such as: How much accommodation of ADHD is too much? How do you get our own opinions heard when you disagree? How can the family cope with the difficult behaviors of the partner with ADHD? and more.
You can have access to this and many other top-quality masterclasses through Smart Course's ADHD Summit Plus Plan. Go to our website and check it out now!

I have a wife and step son who on my insistence saw specialist and were both diagnosed. I find that they can be extremely thoughtless, self centred, lacking insight and prone to verbal outbursts. I am the one who withdrew not to inflict harm on them but to save my sanity

This was so useful. It's been so difficult navigating ADHD with other adults. Thank you for sharing, and thanks Melissa Orlov for all of these tips!!

Before marriage one should declare ADHD or any neuromotor conditions as it is a type of disability that will impact on the relationship and the partner should have a choice to continue or end the relationship.

More like, before marriage one should declare their ableism so their disabled boyfriend/girlfriend can see it as the red flag it is and dump your ableist ass.

I have inattentive ADHD and my ex actually was the one to withdraw and put communication on hold from getting emotionally overwhelmed, although he was bipolar. I usually wanted to keep talking.

I can relate to this issue SO much! My ex had this same issue, but for different reasons. Combining his issues with trauma with my inattentive ADHD just made the whole process of communication with each other feel like a lost cause at times. I know that hyper-fixation is an issue for me whenever I feel stressed or intensely emotional, and stepping out of that is something that doesn't always come naturally to me.... It's been a slow work in progress to say the least.

My wife hid here ADHD from me for almost 2 years we got married and after our first child she finally told me but I had already noticed some of the signs and I was growing very concerned about her and she would have periods of hyper sexual behavior that was fun for me for a while until it led to an affair and well it wrecked our relationship she could not control all that sexual energy she was on hormone overload and things spun out of control for her now I have to watch her like a hawk and she knows it too monitoring someone like this is very tiring mentally and physically after what happened last time she is fully aware why I have to monitor her every moment and account for her whereabouts and she must answer her phone by the 3rd ring and where is my iPhone must always be on she knows why ☹️

Personally I would say the biggest problem during my relationship with mine ADHD partner is it's kind of hard when your two introverts it is really hard to communicate because it's always awkward silence with us. But for the last two to three months ever since I've been dating her I've been constantly researching how does ADHD working with symptoms I should look out for I felt no resentment to her at first it was very frustrating it was so confusing especially because she had a tendency to lie a lot the not paying attention thing I kind of got over it it didn't really bother me as much as it does for other people.

me and my ADHD partner are on brick of breaking up rn. She tried to break up with me 3x already bec she lost the sparks and she can’t feel it anymore and it happened overnight. Does that mean she doesn’t have genuine feelings for me or is it just her ADHD? Or also because I dont give her the Dopamine hit anymore just like in the early stage of our relationship? Does the feelings come back? I love my girlfriend and I’m really patient and understanding so a little help would be much appropriated

@sicanism5454 keep your options open. Stay busy, less contact and let her come to you. There are a lot of women out here that will value you. Remember that.
